How is it contrary to what God has already said about the two becoming one in His Spirit as what God has joined together let no man put us asunder. What is a marriage if not the union of two becoming one in the eyes of God. Are we defined by a piece of paper or the word of God. Has it not been indoctrinated by man what they teach and perceive to be a marriage or does truth come by the Spirit of God.

If all of you believe their is fornication between two that God has joined together then Adam and Eve are also guilty of such a sin as all of you perceive it to be and would make God a liar. I'm not trying to justify anything, but trying to show what God has already said about a union of two blest by His Spirit.

Comparing a third marriage to Adam and Eve is a huge leap...

Dont bother with the attempt to throw guilt with the you make a liar line ...

Gen_29:18 And Jacob loved Rachel; and said, I will serve thee seven years for Rachel thy younger daughter.
Gen_29:20 And Jacob served seven years for Rachel; and they seemed unto him but a few days, for the love he had to her.
Gen_29:21 And Jacob said unto Laban, Give me my wife, for my days are fulfilled, that I may go in unto her.
the ceremony mattered

Agreed.
God set the rules for what marriage is.
We're not allowed to make up our own rules.
If we could do that for marriage, we can do it for anything and it would not matter what Jesus taught or what God wants.

We are truly becoming our own gods.

I have a girlfriend that believes homosexual unions are OK because they "really love each other". She's a professed Christian.

So, IOW, I guess as long as we really love the person, anything goes....
Does this sound Godly to those that believe love is all that is necessary?
The rules God has set, especially with the scriptures you gave in post # 101 is that Husbands love your wife as Christ loves His Church, (Body of Christ, not a building), do not deal treacherously with her, wives submit to your husband as you do to the Lord as the husband is the head of the house.

All I read here is wife, husband, union of two becoming one flesh one spirit. Gods word has never been socially acceptable as man perceives what they believe to be truth and deny the truth that is before them. God calls it a union as man calls it marriage and whatever God joins together in union as He did Adam and Eve in the beginning let no man put us asunder as this is what God calls a marriage. I don't care what society thinks or how they perceive marriage to be as I only want to follow what Gods and not man.

There is fornication, adultery, lust of the eye, lust of the heart. These are the sins of man and women as this is not a union of God.

When did I do that? I'm not comparing my first two marriages with Adam and Eve as I already said I married for the wrong reasons now knowing they were not a union of God, but of self. My third relationship with my husband is a union of God from the get go as Adam and Eve's was. I'm not advocating anyone should just live with each other but to know if it is a union from God or a union of lust.

I agree that when you come together with your spouse you should be a virgin. Yes. Does it say "after the wedding ceremony"? No
Courting? What does that even mean in the Bible? It's not in there. You are saying stuff that the church as it stands now says.

I understand that and we ought to be careful not to let the current culture guide us. But the biblical example is often that the parents choose the mate for the child and in many cases you don't meet them until the wedding night!

That said, our current culture surrounding marriage is what it is and we ought to at least consider appearances since we are to be salt and light in the culture. In our culture, having sex outside of a legal marriage doesn't bode well for the name of Christ and His Church. So we ought to avoid that. Living together is a compromise IMO since it's unnecessary. Getting legally married is easy to do and can be done in some places same day. It's worth doing right and it's worth encouraging others to make wise choices when it comes to marriage.

We currently have over 50% divorce rate in this country and that includes the Church. So clearly something is not right. I know many young women who are on 2nd and third marriages. Today we have a term, "starter marriages." That's coming from a lax culture. And the "try before you buy" is rampant in our sexual culture. There's even this stupid notion that a person ought to have sexual experience before getting married so that the first time is one of experience.

Not everyone will have your story of success. Most will not. It's a sad commentary on our culture.

How? I'm betting that when you married the first two times in both cases, you felt it was true and forever. We all do. When we commit to marriage and make the declaration before witnesses and God we are declaring that commitment for life and here on this earth in our society today it is also a commitment to the government and separating becomes even more difficult. Without a recognized marriage by the state, separation leaves each to his/her own. With a recognized marriage there is more at stake, albeit, secular.

Hi iLOVE,
I believe spiritual adultery is when we leave the sacrifice of Christ for our salvation and cliing to other beliefs. For instance, believing one has to also be baptised. Or believing a church saves you if you just belong to it. This would be spiritual adultery.

I don't quite understand what this has to do with marriage...
I do believe that couples that are not married are living outside the grace of God, although I also believe we will be judged by our heart and what we truly believed.

Could you clarify?
God looks at the sacrifice only (Jesus, His beloved Son in whom He is please). The number one reason why marriages are failing is because each spouse sees each other instead of Jesus (Gal. 2:20-21 / Romans 8:2). Spiritual adultery is faith in anything other than Christ and Him Crucified.

In my devotional reading today, I read this from Palm 119 and thought it to be a good reminder.

Blessed are the undefiled in the way, Who walk in the law of the Lord! Blessed are those who keep His testimonies, Who seek Him with the whole heart! They also do no iniquity; They walk in His ways. You have commanded us To keep Your precepts diligently. Oh, that my ways were directed To keep Your statutes! Then I would not be ashamed, When I look into all Your commandments. I will praise You with uprightness of heart, When I learn Your righteous judgments.

How does the Believer walk and seek the Lords commands and precepts?

1 Corinthians 6:15 Know ye not that your bodies are the members of Christ? shall I then take the members of Christ, and make them the members of an harlot? God forbid. 16 What? know ye not that he which is joined to an harlot is one body? for two, saith he, shall be one flesh. 17 But he that is joined unto the Lord is one spirit.

Our bodies were the members of Christ that became one body of Christ as we became one spirit joined together by Christ as this came to be before the bed.
Been thinking about this through dinner.

I had said that I could live without the marriage certificate, but I'd want to be married in a church, before God.

Then I remembered that both churches I attended would not marry a couple unless they had a marriage certificate from the state. Why? Because a marriage is not a personal occasion. It's a communal celebration and is to be shared by family, friends, and society in general.

In the time of Jesus, and in the small town here where I was born, the entire town joins in the celebrations.
Just some thoughts...
