I'm up late tonight...
I got a cheesecake in the oven and I have been working on my cast iron skillet for a tart tatin for tomorrow night at a friend's house.

I have started a long time ago to "WOW" them with any dinner item I bring.

Tomorrow will be no exception.

Cast iron gave me greif though...
It's been a while since I used it last and there were some rust spots on it.
But I seasoned it and baked off some scratch pancakes in it to help season it well.

Anybody else like cast iron skillets?

Whoa wait a minute! You've got a cheesecake in the oven?? Why can't I be over at your house? Lol sorry I stopped reading after that sentence,.. this is all I heard after that. :lol

Now I'm waiting for it to cool down and shrink back into the pan...I filled it really full.

Ya know,.. when I think of a comeback you're going to be in for a world of hurt. :blackeye Lol that's you, because now I believe that you're doing this on purpose. :angry3 (still I'm only fooling around with you but the joke's on you because even though Easter is about the resurrection of Jesus Christ, I bet He still wouldn't reject to the idea of chocolate and I still got a bag full of mine in the snack cupboard so there :tongue) :biggrin2

Oh I love them Robin egg candies...like malted milk balls....crunchy malt with chocolate and a hard candy coating.... yummy.

Love you too lil sister...

Yeah, I'm just basically the forum jester around here, but seriously though. Everybody knows on here that candy isn't what Easter is all about or dying Easter eggs,.. but at the same time, it's still all in good fun. And I bet that you won't find it anywhere in the Bible that "thou shall not have fun" is a commandment. :) Same with Christmas. As long as the children know who's birthday we're celebrating, I say let them enjoy their visit from Santa Claus.

Yes...
Chocolate swirl cheesecake. Gonna have strawberry sauce to go with.
My wife would say you're the devil. :lol Her favorite dessert is cheesecake. And she is currently dieting.
We have a few Lodge cast irons. One good method to stop rust if you store your pans for a period of time is to put paper towel or newspaper between the pans. It stops moisture from setting in and it prevents rust.

Oh yeah, I use cast iron quite a bit.

I have a homemade cheescake in the frige right now. It came out perfect!

What's the matter with your friends? They can't cook?!

The world would be a poorer place without cheesecake.

Someone ought to right a song about that!

I tried a few no bake cheese cakes and they all came out awesome. My wife used to have such trouble with the bake it cheese cakes, so I wanted to try to bake one to see if I could figger what her trouble was with them.

So I did and they came out perfect. I've made them several times since then and they're always good, no cracks or nothing, perfection. I felt pretty good about that because she had trouble, lol. She was a wonderful cook with anything else, just not cheese cakes.

Of course they can cook a little... like most people.
I was a 4 star 5 diamond chef when I was younger...I'm in cookbooks and stuff. (Considered out of date now)
I have thousands of dollars tied up in expensive knives, pans and equipment...and I know how to use them all.
My mandolin doesn't play a single note of music. My chinoise is still fine and strains hot sauces better than anything...I usually don't do more than a couple of quarts but it can do gallons.
My kitchaide mixer holds 2 gallons and has a DC motor...quite a bit bigger and stronger than a standard "professional" one. My other KitchenAid mixer is a standard small one (5 quart)
Then there are tons of different pans for making different things. From 3 dimensional animals to various round sizes...I made my own wedding cake and we did good to get the top tier (out of 4) to stash for our first anniversary because the guests ate it all and left the chocolate cake practically untouched. Then the tart pans and muffin pans in many shapes and sizes. I put chocolate working items back in my kitchen which includes granite slabs (in place of marble) and 11 lb bricks of swiss chocolate and the candy molds. I can temper the chocolate and make anything.

I still like cooking. I can't do it for a living anymore...but I do enough to wow my family and friends. I probably need to "thin the herd" but I haven't a clue where to start.
