I guess in my entire 40 year's on this planet, I have met with hundreds of Christian's. In all that time spent, I can't even remember when one of them has wanted to know me. They were never interested in my hopes or dreams, my thoughts or feelings, my troubles or fears.

They tell me Christianity is about a relationship, but how can you have a relationship with someone without knowing them through & through? How could they have ever loved me, when they never took the time to just be a friend.

My ultimate hope is to overcome believing thing's, something that's difficult to do in a world like this. My one and only dream is for my daughter to forgive me for not being in her life enough. My fear is that I might stop learning & die in misery.
It's never to late to start.
Instead of having this fear over your daughter....
start having a relationship with her now.
Just do the best you can.

I agree with you!
Some are nice and some are not.
I saw a bumpersticker once that said:
Christians are saved...
not perfect.

I guess that says it all.
We can only do our best.

My heart goes out to you, know this keep trusting in the Lord, have faith and the day will come where things will work itself out. I'm looking forward to getting to know you better. :):)

That's really nice for you to say and I agree but that's rather difficult now considering the fact they aren't here anymore. So now who are we going to call when a gigantic Stay Puff marshmallow man starts attacking the forums? Make S'mores I guess. :biggrin2

I don't know if I understand what you mean. You can definitely have a relationship with someone without knowing them through and through. The apostles didn't know everything about Jesus, yet they had a relationship with Him. He even calls them friends at one time.

‘hi, sorry you have hit a tough spot. Christians, me top of the list, are imperfect and we are all trying to be like Christ. But that doesn’t help you at the moment. If you can find a church down where you are that has an assimilation set up where you meet with some other new people as well as few people who are either staff or trained volunteers. Meeting with a small group gives everyone a chance to not only meet other people as well as develop relationships. As time goes by try and find two other faithful people and become a cord of three which is not easily broken. Support each other, do social things and just be to others what you want them to be to you.have patience things take time.

i would like to pray for you.
Lord another of your Lambs wounded by others in your flock. Lord we who are your flock need to take seriously the call for us to shepherd others as we also are shepherded. We need the Heart of the Good Shepherd a heart of the love being poured out by the Good Shepherd and the balm of Gilead soothe you. Someone once said I am glad I met the Lord before I met His people and how said those words if true of any of us please change our hearts that we would edify all you bring into our live. I ask you Lord for you to go before them as you went before Israel and a goodly number come together that we might all be the Body of Christ. in Your Son’s Name we ask you to give the love you have for us that we have your love and care to each other in His holy Name. Amen

That's a wonderful prayer, but just so you know I don't think that this member is on here anymore.

Nothing is hidden from Jesus. It is has been made quite clear that the Fathers will is to believe in the Son. Gods love is not mans love. His faithfulness endures forever. The question is do you want a relationship with Him? Again who you are He knows. Do you want to know Him?

the first thing I found out is that Christian don’t live up to my expectations either it is as true as the day is long. We are still messed up people. Some of the problem can be when we look at them and we see all chronological adults but spiritual speaking we are all shapes and sizes some of us are still babes in Christ and so on. But there is no excuse for anyone to walk out of any gathering place church or secular not feeling connected but what is in society is also in the Church. It is hard for most people to become friends. Loneliness is at epidemic levels. This is not saying this is true for you. It is just a fact of life for most of us.

if you can find one your answer maybe a church that is set up to assimilate new people. They have small groups with people from the Body located at that church who volunteer and run small groups. In these groups you learn out Christ, the church you want to join, how the church works. Plus you attend services. That way when you start venturing on your own there will always be a couple of friendly face when you come and join that Body and you have seeds planted from which to grow into relationships with the church and those who make her a church.

one last thing if we are like a one way street and don’t offer to others what we hope to get in return you will find good hearted people uses that one way to leave you behind.

i offer an apology to you because I don’t think most people who attend church want to exclude anyone. Please don’t give up. God bless.

Maybe you need to revaluate what it is to be a Christian? Anyone in this world can say “I’m a Christian” but to be one is something precious and just to find one is a needle in the haystack When you have to search over 40,000 different Christian dominations known to man. Jesus said broad and spacious is the road leading off into destruction and MANY are heading into it, but narrow is the gate that leads to everlasting life FEW are the ones finding it. One must be humble and lowly to understand what a true Christian is, when asked by the disciples about how will someone know who are true believers jesus said: You will know them by the LOVE that they have amongst themselves. If it’s taken you that long to feel the brotherly love among the Christian congregation then maybe your in wrong denomination? I’m sure you’re familiar with the prophecy scripture Of the end times when people start asking Jesus at his second coming.
Matthew 7:16-23 Not everyone saying to me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ will enter into the Kingdom of the heavens, but only the one doing the will of my Father who is in the heavens will
(Note : what is the Fathers will)
Just because A religion Or person calls himself a Christian doesn’t make them one, you can see in the scriptures that in that Hour when Jesus returns some so-called Christians will be killed because they’re not doing the will of Jesus’s father. Satan has Tainted the meaning of a Christian, so as to confuse to what and who a true Christian is. There are shortcuts to see whether your among true Christians if you wanna know?

Hi Truth is Power and welcome to CF.

I do not believe this member is with us anymore, just wanted to let you know.

On another note what you have written here is so true as many try to find Christ through others only to be let down by them. They search out different religions trying to find where they fit in. I know this as it was myself doing the exact same thing for so many years.

It wasn't until I almost gave up even trying anymore that the Holy Spirit intervened in my life as I kneeled in desperate prayer before the Lord and asked Jesus to reveal Himself to me in a way I had never known before. That day in 1997 He did reveal Himself to me in all His glory as the light of Christ engulfed me in the most warmest and bright light that I had ever seen. There lying on the ground I poured out my heart to Him and there He literally spoke to me, whether by an angel or His own voice I do not know, but that day was the beginning of my personal relationship with Christ Jesus as I thought God had forsaken me, but was by my side from the day I was born, but it took me reaching out to Him to realize that God will never leave us or forsake us.

If we are looking for recognition in man we will never truly find it, but when we look for recognition in Christ there will we see Hid light and that light of Christ shining in us and through us as we let the light of Christ shine out to the nations so that light will lead the way to the Father.

My ultimate hope is to overcome believing thing's, something that's difficult to do in a world like this. My one and only dream is for my daughter to forgive me for not being in her life enough. My fear is that I might stop learning & die in misery.

The simple truth is,unless God has elected you, you will die without Christ and burn for eternity because you are a sinner and deserving of that. If God has elected you, then You will eventually succumb to the calling and turn from your wickedness.

Jesus Came into the world and Died on the cross for the world's sin. There is more literature supporting and agreeing with this statement then anything else in the world.

The reason why I believe is because I have faith. And faith comes by hearing the Word of God. My suggestion to you is to open a bible (With an open mind) at the book of John and read through to jude, taking notes of what stands out to you, prayerfully asking Jesus to reveal Himself to you if He in fact is real. Unless you do this then there is no hope and your mind is closed off and you will die without Christ.

You need Christ to enter heaven, The bible says you must be born again to enter the Kingdom of God.

Look at the world around you, what is the point of all this? There is absolutely no point unless God is the centre of the equation. You live, work, save, retire then die, and someone else gets to plunder your savings and its all vanity. You are better off using drugs and alcohol and enjoying what little time you have until you eventually expire.

However, With God there is purpose! Now you have eternity to look forward to, a Hope! This life now becomes a training ground for you to build that relationship with Jesus, and when you enter into the Kingdom you will have treasure's stored up waiting for you. However you might "feel" about Christianity we don't care. There is only one truth in life, and that's Jesus!

All religions claim to have the truth, but Jesus never claimed to have the truth, He claimed He alone WAS the Truth!

This is a sad reality of the world - That people die without Christ when all the information was right there in front of them... Then it's too late.

If Jesus is not real and you believe, then it does not matter.
But.... If Jesus is real and you don't believe then you're going to hell when you die.

God Bless.

Seamus,

How is that election effected. Is it by God alone and unconditionally or do human beings have the ability to reject God's drawing them?

I already replied to another poster about a few things. But I'll continue by saying how I feel about being pigeonholed into having some world view. In actuality I have a universal view, not a world view. Also, everytime someone categorises me under some belief system, I feel like I'm wasting my time trying to have a relationship with them.
There is truth in both positions.
We are all in a pidgin hole of some sort, and people vary in openness. Openness is two way, so until you meet someone you click with, it will stay needy and rejected.

I thought once I wanted closeness, until I realised only on certain terms.

I got a little close to one guy, nope, not a good move. It takes time to learn this, to open up to the right place and also back off when told.

A very subtle skill that some never learn. And this is irrespective of faith.
