Power is already a problem for California ,to,fast charge an electric its 480v.. Norway's system uses 75 minutes to recharge a car .impractical at times. That's a load.not even. All stadiums use 480,most are 240 demand .

See norway for that idea about how unready they are.

Norway doesn't have significant smog. That's a completely different situation. LA has smog. People are getting sick from it. They have to do something. No choice. People need clean air to breathe. If they want to stay healthy. Bombay is polluted beyond all reason, and they really need to do something. Quickly, if they want to stay healthy.

...double that and labor would be close to a grand at a shop

Yes, that is accurate. That's why areas with little smog don't bother. Its mostly only densely populated smoggy cities that inspect cats.

Yes, electric is far less convenient than ICE. The citizens of smoggy cities will force commuters to use electric or fuel cell. Rural areas with little smog will continue to use ICE.

Different areas of the country and globe have different circumstances to consider. Different vehicles are optimal in different places.

That's because la has no breezes.

One city .la doesn't have a river or above ground river.its really a desert.
Norway ?imagine rolling black outs or power plants ,nuclear or cng,or coal.since we are so adverse choose the poison from cng or coal, hydroelectric is limited as once and flow is hit it can't fire up more turbines.

Unlike cng, coal .the longer you are from your power plant the more power is lost in xmissiom

Yes, they have an inversion layer. Places like that need to be really careful about their air. Lots of cities in India too. There is a place for electric in such localities.
I,don't think, you get the idea of how local power grids interconnect .only,15 power plants exist in my, state.of them 4 are nuke.2 of them actually power Atlanta . all others per state law should that go down be able back it up.

California has rolling brown out risks ,add higher demand and its gonna get worse . you cant build a coal plant or cng without a risk of higher emissions as those do release nox.

North Cali is powered by a hydrogrid in Idaho, its powering most of the north west, all,of Idaho as well.la uses other hydro and buys power from the north grid and Hoover will big doesn't power that though it could but still unless its cng, nuke,or coal .solar nor wind could. Not meet such a demand of a few million electric cars.

My state had a black out where by all plants went down and a 60,year old diesel plant saved the state.fpls slc one and two went down and the power grid in summer couldn't handle it.

Can't ignore that the middle of the state is higher in,Cali, and pollution can be carried over to,la in rain .your idea would suggest a travel ban for gas cars to la.

Can't build a ton of those and not have a grid behind the ability . that said i get your argument but again to presume that where Reba lives in,should be emiission exempt would force her to buy, electric to simply visit those emission free cities. Plenty do commute from the other side of the mountains to la and back .

Yes, they will have to build more things like this for crowded cities with inversion layers to go electric. Wind farms or solar in nearby deserts could supplement hydro. Upgrade the grid to carry additional capacity.

Yes. Casual visitors to LA and such could just rent a car for the trip. People in LA should be able to open their windows without black soot filling their noses. That's not reasonable.

Soot is emitted from diesels.not even carberotirs from the 20s did that

I have worked on old engines from the 70s,flat head 4 in a 4cyl. ,no cat ,Cali allows any car to be druveb there but must meet the emission of the year its made.

Otherwise all those classic cars would be illegal. If a car is missing that bad ,it wouldn't be driveable with a cat or not.
I live in a county who has a lot of pre cat classics ,never saw one kick out soot.I have a co-worker who removed his cat and had s miss and it still, didn't do that.

Yes it is. Diesel won't give LA clean air. Electric or fuel cell will.

Its not enough. Air quality in some crowded cities needs improving.
You might now that the fact red time at times in,my,state, and ga,a.c.,is caused by subharam, sand being carried by,winds .

That said to ignore that and allow pollution from cobalt ,cars make no,sense when soot can be carried for miles.

Cant allow me to burn garbage in the woods by,the lonesome and then think, those particulates won't affect others.this has been found out and we did just that in iraq,Afghanistan

Emissions from cobalt mining is ok,to,kill, pollute the miners and nearby towns but don't we dare tell,la to simply vacate .That's moral isn't it?

Okay. Its a matter of how much pollution is in the air. The stuff from Sahara is not pushing the air in Georgia beyond the EPA limit. Its trivial.

This can be a local factor. Farmers clearing fields in India via this means cause a lot of air pollution in the area, because they have inversion layers similar to LA. India needs to clean up its act. The air in many Indian cities is ridiculous. Some people actually walk around outside with masks on to filter the air.

Emissions from cobalt mining...

Cobalt mining can be done safely. One is starting up in Idaho. Some third world countries have horrifying practices. They need to better protect their workers.

There are a lot of cobalt deposits in the USA. We can mine our own, using proper safety equipment. Jobs for Americans.

I guess that machines have taken over grocery shopping as well. Boy with everything streaming and going virtual I wonder just how much changes in our world that we're going to get. (I say this since we no longer have cable and we basically stream and watch things over the internet now.)

look up piggly wiggly and what he did and this idea was something he wanted to and he was trying to actually have a fully automated grocery store. before they had people who would grab the food from your list and bring it too you and it was costly as it involved you not being able to walk the aisles , they had each person designated for each area grab the items. he changed that and saved a money and made grocery shopping cheaper.

btw the milkman is on his way back. he was something that I grew up on. why? its greener for him to do that and one recycled glass, he would deliver eggs in a carton ,milk in either a gallon jug, or bottle( quarts) and all had to be returned . he would wash and reuse all.nor was it that expensive. my wife and my self have memories of that and we posess a bottle from that time(vero dairy from the 20s) and it was called tripson dairy in our time. the husband of the daughter of the man who founded vero dairy and up to his death lived there. only a relic of the silos and the houses remain (office and where the cows were milked). I went there years later for work and was amazed at all the things left from that.

I'm all for a personal robot bringing my groceries home, and putting them in the refrigerator for me. Then cooking the food when I hungry, and bringing me the plate. Bring on the helper bots.

So no,mundane work ?while many, mundane jobs were eliminated by john Deere tractors .still had mundane jobs in tillimg ,planting and mowing .

.can you imagine churches with robots meeting needs instead of you?no one washing the poor clothes, the sick feed by a person .detached serveanthood.I don't think that is Jesus has in mind .

I could also elaborate how one could simply, listen a robotic created pseudo person preaching as we can akready do this.I'm,not much of a social type but I will, not ignore the blight of what social media has done ,doctors prescribe in the UK homes where you have to cook,no,smart tech at all.why?low stress and fresh air in those historic buildings helps .

Nevermind processed foods etc .

Seriously?? They're bringing back the milkman?? :mouthdrop Sounds like they're Full House fans then. :lol
