Sounds too sweet. I want to find out what the ingredients are, but I can't find it anywhere online. May have to look in store.

Yeah at first the combination sounded a bit weird to me even though I love both sugar cookies and popcorn, but I heard that it's supposed to be really good so I guess it's one of those don't knock it until you try it kind of things. :shrug

Well, seems like people will be looking for it in Walmart stores. I think I will stick to cheesy popcorn =P

I'll stick with my old fashioned popcorn popper. I use coconut oil (looks like lard) and pop it on top of the stove.
It has a flavor that knocks the microwave stuff out of the ball park.
Then I use popcorn salt. It's regular salt that has been ground superfine to where it looks like powder. (Inexpensive)
After that... maybe garlic powder or butter or both.

Huge difference in taste.

Timing is important when doing it on the stove top. Heat the shortening to just below the smoking point...a little smoke is ok...a lot and it's too hot.
Or use the three kernel method.
Throw three kernels into the oil and wait for them to pop.
Then throw the rest of the kernels in...not before. This keeps the number of unpopped kernels down.

When done salt immediately...the cooler it gets the less the salt will stick.

One thing I've perfected is how to cook popcorn!
The only think I would add is that when you put your popcorn in, only fill the base of your pan and the oil should be right at the same level as the oil.
It should start popping very quickly and with the lid on, give it a shake to keep the kernels at the bottom so they can pop.

Once the pot is half full of popped corn, reduce the heat and continue to shake until the pops are a second or so apart and then remove.

Kernels in a lot with coconut oil or avocado oil is also how I cook mine! It is good, as long as I don't burn it lol. It is all in the process.

I don't buy microwave popcorn. Way too many scary chemicals in those bags.

Me, too! It is rare I actually get some lol. I have been craving it.

Now I am as well lol! Two weeks from today I'm going to get movie popcorn though as I'm going to go see Frozen 2 when it comes out. Now John claims he can make it just like they do in theaters and possibly even better, so I would be very interested to see if he's right. Either way, it's sort of a special treat to go to the theaters and to devour all that buttery goodness. :popcorn

It is delicious with butter at home. While movie theater popcorn has an addictive flavor, there is no butter in it at all. They dust the popcorn with Flavacol when it pops to make it look buttery and the liquid "butter" is partially hydrogenated soybean oil (a.k.a. trans fats), beta carotene (a coloring, makes carrots orange), tertiary Butylhydroquinone or TBHQ (synthetic preservative that keeps the color and texture from changing as the product sits), polydimethylsiloxane (silicone based chemical that prevents foaming), and buttery flavoring.

Don't get me wrong, it tastes good, but I know it hurts my stomach, too. The stuff at home when real butter is added is great! It would just be tricky getting it to the theater.

I want to see Frozen II to make sure it is okay for my oldest to see. Not sure if I will get the chance. Movie theaters are a rarity these days. (I did get out to see Maleficent 2, though. First movie theater movie in 3 years). She loves Elsa. I hope there is no super questionable content in it.

Oh yeah I think I remember hearing something about the fact that buttery popcorn isn't really butter at all, but that completely blows my mind because I can't believe that it's not butter. :lol

Oh yeah and I don't want to get too off topic but another thing that completely blows my mind speaking of Frozen is when I sing "the cold never bothered me anyway" I'm sitting here trying to not to shiver even though I'm currently wearing my flannel pajamas. So it's more like "t-t-t-the c-c-c-cold n-n-n-never b-b-bothered me anyway." I never thought that I would contradict myself while singing a song. :rofl2 Or in my case,.. if that's (singing) what you call it anyway. XDD!!! :hysterical

If you make popcorn with coconut oil with good quality popcorn (like the kind used for kettle corn) it IS better than the stuff at movie theatres.
And the use of popcorn salt really makes a difference too.

The stuff at the theatres has a "stale" taste to it that the home made doesn't. Even though both are usually freshly popped...
I don't know why it is...it just is.
