First off, gloves are primarily used to prevent cross-contamination. Which means if you are going to change gloves between every place you go, and everything you touch I wouldn't bother. Now, as for the mask? Yes, you can wear a mask, but really it is used by those who have tested positive to prevent spreading it to those who do not have it, but then those who have tested positive are more than likely quarantined already. So, if you want to wear gloves, that is your choice, but it is basically useless unless you carry a box with you and you keep changing them and washing your hands between each pair. The only practical thing is to wear a mask, but unless your municipality is mandating you wear it, it is basically personal preference.

Take a look at the numbers being reported, then read them with a grain of salt, because they are being inflated. There is a more than 98% chance you will survive it should you even be exposed to it. Don't go Chicken Little because of it, but also respect that it is still a disease that has the mortality rate of the flu.

Perhaps everyone should wear a mask in public during the regular flu season, to protect others from the flu and common cold. That's the habit in the east. Consideration of others.

Preaching to others while wearing a mask during the flu season (to protect them) might be perceived as a sign of love by people being preached to. At least in some cultures.

The present U.S. mortality rate of about 4-5% is much, much greater that of most flu strains. I think that when it's all tabulated, the rate will be about 1-2, or roughly ten times that of the usual flu mortality.

I just found out today that you have to wear a face mask to go into any store that is still open. I live in California. At the grocery store today they would not let me in because I did not have a mask. I was about to cry when the woman behind me said she was a nurse and she had plenty of masks in her purse, each contained in protective plastic. Then she said, "God bless you." Miracles happen everyday even at the grocery store in the middle of an epidemic.

See, I don't think that it should be a necessity to wear one if you're a customer. A worker yes it should be, but not for just shopping around. Even so there are ways to make them at home even if you don't own one. :)

If everybody wears them, sick people won't be embarrassed to wear a mask. In some countries, almost everyone wears a mask during flu season as a courtesy to others.

Plus sometimes people can be sick, and not know it. They spread disease.

Yeah I guess you're right since I'm sort of embarrassed to wear one myself. However, it would also protect you from sick people that you might not even know are sick.

I would like to see the real numbers. Meaning, show the breakdown of people who actually died from the virus directly, as opposed to those who died of other causes but happened to test positive for the virus. There have been numerous reports coming out that lump the latter group into the overall total yet were not actual victims of the virus.

We might not know the exact number for years. Everybody uses a different standard. It will take time for bean counters to sort it all out.

A ball park range is all we have for now. Need a lot more tests. If you are not testing, you are guessing.

No they haven't. They originally lied when they said masks wouldn't help the public. I haven't trusted them since.

The WHO originally encouraged people to travel from plague areas to the USA and elsewhere. I haven't had any confidence in them since.

We could use a complete revamping of our biowarfare defenses. If this had been a zombie virus, the US would be full of zombies right now. Even now with the country locked down people argue and fight instead of cooperating to defeat 19. They have been simply refusing to build government factories to supply our plague warriors with what they need to implement standard outbreak protocol. Individual states have been limited to desperately implementing the dark age technology of quarantining their entire populations.

What a way to run a war.

I forgot to mention earlier that's another reason why I don't wear a mask. I was told that it wasn't really going to do me much good.
This really comes down to common sense. Short of wearing a gas mask everywhere (and even that may not be 100% effective) wearing any kind of nose and mouth covering will be better than nothing. If you are concerned about exposure then any barrier is better than no barrier.

Well that's the thing, I'm not really getting out too much right now anyways.

It would be better if Americans could wear real masks, like they do in other countries, instead of just an old T shirt on their face. They really should manufacture some masks in this country already.

An old T shirt may be better than nothing, but a nice P100 is better than an old T shirt.

They do sell some masks,.. just not an awful lot from my understanding.
