How can you tell the Bible is true, and not a work of fiction such as Harry Potter or The Hunger Games as compared in this deleted by moderator.

Which ones?

I have heard that Harry potter series is ungodly. I haven't read them myself but..
Hunger games is obviously ungodly!
Don't know about the rest.

My point was only that some books are not good.
And some are.
Some might have a bad influence.

Not really.. more in general. But we should be a little bit careful as to what we put in to our minds, and our children..
But not in a religious way, just a little conscious about it..
But otherwise feel free!
I remember growing up with the books of Narnia and I like them. Also Scrooge and The Hobbit story.. ?

Narnia is considered an imitation of the Jesus story. The lion Aslan, sacrifices his life for the others in the name of goodness.

Yeah. And the lion king.. and quite a few stories do similar comparison.
I don't know the intention of the writers always.
So we should listen to the inner voice. It will give us a feeling about the different kinds of influence out there.
We should be a little bit careful is all..
Blessings!

Even today's smartest humans failed to speculate how humans usually get to facts. However this method is clearly recorded in the Bible. Another proof that the Bible is God-breathed.

Hawkins,

The media and culture are admitting what the Oxford English Dictionary defines as 'post-fact': 'Relating to or denoting circumstances in which objective facts are less influential in shaping public opinion than appeals to emotion and personal belief'. This is synonymous with the meaning of 'post-truth'.

For the Christian, there are enormous ramifications if facts/truth are replaced by appeals to emotion in determining decisions - including the evidence for God, Jesus, the Holy Spirit and the entire universe.

The Greek word for truth, aletheia, gives us a window into one of its meanings in the NT:
  1. objectively
    1. what is true in any matter under consideration
      1. truly, in truth, according to truth
      2. of a truth, in reality, in fact, certainly
    2. what is true in things appertaining to God and the duties of man, moral and religious truth
      1. in the greatest latitude
      2. the true notions of God which are open to human reason without his supernatural intervention (source)
So, biblical truth gives an accurate expression of reality. If we want to know the truth about evidence for God, origins of the universe, human beings and sin, how to obtain meaning, moral standards, and eternal destinies - we go to the God-breathed Scripture for the truth.
