The weeks are prophetic, not literal.

Dan 9:27 And he shall confirm the covenant with many for one week: and in the midst of the week he shall cause the sacrifice and the oblation to cease, and for the overspreading of abominations he shall make it desolate, even until the consummation, and that determined shall be poured upon the desolate.

The 70th seven began with Christ baptism in AD 29 and three years later at the end of the first half of the 70th seven sacrifices and offering ceased because Christ hung on the cross. From the giving of the law in 458BC when Ezra went to establish the law, or to rebuild the spiritual city right to the cross where the first 69 sevens. The 70th seven is from the time of the cross until Jesus comes back in the air to call his Bride home and for the overspreading of abominations he will make desolate, or make an end to all who would not believe.

A Day Equals One Year

The 70 week prophecy of Daniel 9:24 establishes a principle related to prophetic time that few completely understand. Virtually everyone acknowledges that the 70 weeks are not literally 70 weeks, but rather 70 weeks of years, or 490 years. The principle is that in Bible prophecy, you must substitute a period of a year in place of a day. This is the day=year principle. This equation is clearly established in scripture-

Numbers 14:34 after the number of the days in which ye searched the land, even forty days, each day for a year, shall ye bear your iniquities, even forty years, and ye shall know my breach of promise.

In this verse, a relationship between day and year is clear, each day will equate to a literal year. For the forty days that Israel spied in Canaan in unbelief, they would be punished by wandering forty years in the desert.

Ezekiel 4:6 and when thou hast accomplished them, lie again on thy right side, and thou shalt bear the iniquity of the house of Judah forty days: I have appointed thee each day for a year.

Here again, the equation is stated quite openly, a prophetic day represents a literal year. So to return to the 70 weeks of Daniel, you must first determine the number of days represented. Seventy weeks is 70 x 7 or 490 days, which will then equate to a literal 490 years in the fulfillment of the prophecy.

What I study comes straight from scripture, history and only those commentaries that I have tested to be true.

I'm not into those bandwagon teachings that began in the 1830's that mislead others as they line their pockets with others hard earned money.

Why is 'prophetic' in contrast with 'literal'?

Just because you place the 70th week at a different time, doesn't mean it isn't a 7 year period. You acknowledge that when you try and use 'literally' the 3 and 1/2 years to Christ's death.

Your configuration is confusing. You say the 70th week begins with Christ's baptism. You then say the 70th week begins with Christ's death. You use 3 and 1/2 years literally to Christ's death. But you then use it to mean however many years to Christ's 2nd Coming.

I agree with the 70 weeks of years or 490 years. That equates to a 'week' remaining after the 69th week. (Dan. 9:26) But, that 70th week begins when antichrist makes a covenant with the Jews. (Dan. 9:27) And that begins the 7 year Tribulation. (Dan. 9:27) And in the middle of that the antichrist sets up the abomination of desolation. (Dan. 9:27)

With your calculation, there is no antichrist making a covenant with the Jews for that last week of 7 years. (Dan. 9:27) There is no abomination of desolation set up in the Temple 3 and 1/2 years later. (Dan. 9:27)

Of course you just study the 'Bible' like everyone else does. You and God, right? What are some of those commentaries you and God deem true?

Correct me if I'm wrong but to have a temple there needs to be a Levite priest. Who in this world can prove they are a Levite?.

That is a good question. The same can be asked of those 144,000 Jews, 12,000 from each tribe of Israel. (Rev. 7:4-8)

At this time I don't believe any can prove which tribe they are from. But, something must occur in order for them to do so. Possibly some sort of DNA testing to compare to.

Thank you.

Therefore we need not look or anticipate the Rapture or the 2nd Coming of Christ because the Church will go through the Tribulation. We need only look for the anti-christ to be revealed, and the Temple is rebuilt. (Matt. 24:15) (Dan. 9:27) (Dan. 12:11)

I would state rev11 is a sign that can't be mistaken.

In regard to the 144,000
They follow Christ Jesus. They are Christians. As far as their heritage they are appointed by God and He knows. As I stated if the offspring of those first believers, children of Abraham, remained in the faith they most likely would be called Christians in this day and age. As far as man they are hidden in the body of Christ but God knows their heritage. And though there are many rebukes in the OT and NT in regard to the people of Israel there is also Gods enduring faithfulness to the promise He made to Abraham.

But, that 70th week begins when antichrist makes a covenant with the Jews.

Agreed. The “prince who is to come” confirms a covenant with many for one week.

I believe “many” refers to the Jews who make up a modern day Sanhedrin.

I also believe the “covenant“ is the Jerusalem Covenant that was made and signed in May 19 1993 by leading religious and political leaders of Israel.

THE JERUSALEM COVENANT

We have gathered together in Zion, national leaders and heads of our communities everywhere, to enter into a covenant with Jerusalem, as was done by the leaders of our nation and all the people of Israel upon Israel's return to its Land from the Babylonian exile; and the people and their leaders will dwell in Jerusalem, the Holy City.

Once again, 'our feet stand within your gates, O Jerusalem - Jerusalem built as a city joined together' which 'unites the people of Israel to one another', and 'links heavenly Jerusalem with earthly Jerusalem.'

We have returned to the place that the Lord vowed to bestow upon the descendants of Abraham, Father of our Nation; to the City of David, King of Israel; where Solomon, son of David, built a Holy Temple; a Capital City which became the Mother of all Israel; a metropolis for justice and righteousness and for the wisdom and insights of the ancient world; where a Second Temple was erected in the days of Ezra and Nehemiah. In this city the prophets of the Lord prophesied; in the City the Sages taught Torah; in this City the Sanhedrin convened in session in its stone chamber. 'For there were the seats of Justice, the Throne of the House of David', 'for out of Zion shall go forth Torah, and the Word of the Lord from Jerusalem.'.

Today, as of old, we hold fast to the truth of the words of the Prophets of Israel, that all the inhabitants of the world shall enter within the gates of Jerusalem: 'And it shall come to pass at the end of days, the mountain of the House of the Lord will be well established at the peak of the mountains and will tower above the hills, and all the nation shall stream towards it.' Each and every nation will live in it by its own faith: 'For all the nation will go forward, each with its own Divine Name; we shall go in the name of the Lord our God forever and ever.' And in this spirit the Knesset of the State of Israel has enacted a law: The places holy to the peoples of all religions shall be protected from any desecration and from any restriction of free access to them..

Jerusalem - peace and tranquility shall reign in the city: 'Pray for the peace of Jerusalem; may those who love you be tranquil. May there be peace within your walls, and tranquility within your palaces.' Out of Jerusalem, a message of peace went forth and shall yet go forth again to all the inhabitants of the earth: 'And they shall beat their swords into plowshares, and their spears into pruning-hooks; nation will not lift up sword against nation, nor shall they learn war anymore.' Our sages, peace be upon them, said. In the future, The Holy One, the Blessed, will comfort Jerusalem only with peace..

From this place, we once again take this vow: "If I forget thee, O Jerusalem, may my right hand lose its strength; may my tongue cleave to my palate if I do not remember you, if I do not raise up Jerusalem at the very height of my rejoicing.'.

And with all these understandings, we enter into this Covenant and write: We shall bind you to us forever; we shall bind you to us with faithfulness, with righteousness and justice, with steadfast love and compassion. We love you, O Jerusalem, with eternal love, with unbounded love, under siege and when liberated from the yoke of oppressors. We have been martyred for you; we have yearned for you, we have clung to you. Our faithfulness to you we shall bequeath to our children after us. Forevermore our home shall be within you.

it's confusing to you as you believe what dispensationalist teach of a seven year tribulation period, but nowhere in scripture does it teach this.

Mat 24:15 When ye therefore shall see the abomination of desolation, spoken of by Daniel the prophet, stand in the holy place, (whoso readeth, let him understand:)
Mat 24:16 Then let them which be in Judaea flee into the mountains:
Mat 24:17 Let him which is on the housetop not come down to take any thing out of his house:
Mat 24:18 Neither let him which is in the field return back to take his clothes.
Mat 24:19 And woe unto them that are with child, and to them that give suck in those days!
Mat 24:20 But pray ye that your flight be not in the winter, neither on the sabbath day:
Mat 24:21 For then shall be great tribulation, such as was not since the beginning of the world to this time, no, nor ever shall be.

Dan 7:25 And he shall speak great words against the most High, and shall wear out the saints of the most High, and think to change times and laws: and they shall be given into his hand until a time and times and the dividing of time.

When you see the abomination of desolation (son of perdition) that Daniel spoke of that will wear out the saints as he stands in the holy place, being the very Temple Mount of God in Jerusalem, and will cause all to bow down to him and take his mark or die a martyr's death like so many of the saints of God before them this will begin the 3 1/2 year reign of the last antichrist/beast out of the earth/son of perdition. It's after these 3 1/2 years, not seven, that Christ returns and by the brightness of His coming destroys the beast and his false prophet casting them alive into the lake of fire, 2 Thessalonians 2:1-12; Rev 19:11-21.

We have to remember that no one knows the day or the hour of Christ return, but it is those who endure until the end that will be saved from the lake of fire on the last day as their names are written in the Lamb's Book of Life.

God speaks to us in scripture of a 3 1/2 year tribulation during the time of the seventh trumpet sounding, not a seven year tribulation, as being time, times and half time which equals 1260 days = 3 ½ years or 3 ½ Times – Hebrew calendar only had 30 days for each month and this is where you get 1260 days or 3 ½ years.
[Scripture reference]
Revelation 12:14; Daniel 7:25; Daniel 12:7
1260 days – Revelation 11:3; Revelation 12:6
42 months – Revelation 11:2; Revelation 13:5

No where in scripture does it mention a seven year tribulation, but only seven trumpets of God's fierce wrath as scripture says we will always have tribulations as the last time will be such as was not since the beginning of the world to this time, no, nor ever shall be, Matthew 24:21; Deut 4:30; 7:19; 29:1-6; 1 Samuel 26:24; Matthew; John 16:33; Romans 12:12; 24:21; James 1:2; 1 Peter 1:6.

It is possible through DNA testing. Tracing my Great Grandmothers maiden name, Marion, found out I am 0.6% Ashkenazi Jewish tracing back to the tribe of Levi.

I would state rev11 is a sign that can't be mistaken.

Doesn't matter. With your and others view of the 2nd Coming, we don't need to look for or anticipate the 2nd Coming at this time. We just need to watch for the antichrist and the Temple being rebuilt and the Tribulation.

No, it's confusing because of your confusing statements, as I showed. (Dan. 9:27) is very clear. You however are very confusing. You had the 70th week starting and ending at different times. Which you ignore.

(Dan. 9:27) has the 70th week beginning with antichrist making a covenant with the Jews. In the middle of that week, 3 and 1/2 years later, he breaks that covenant and sets up the abomination of desolation. That 70th week is the time of the Tribulation. It is the Time of Jacobs Trouble. It pertains to the last 7 years of the 70 year judgement against Israel. Not confusing at all. Unless you want it to be.

The antichrist has not been revealed. The antichrist has not made a covenant with the Jews at this time. No Temple has been rebuilt.

Please answer post #(91) and the many others where I ask you this question.

Where in your time line is the Tribulation?

Quantrill

The great tribulation occurs before the coming of the Lord.

“But in those days, after that tribulation, the sun will be darkened, and the moon will not give its light; the stars of heaven will fall, and the powers in the heavens will be shaken. Then they will see the Son of Man coming in the clouds with great power and glory. And then He will send His angels, and gather together His elect from the four winds, from the farthest part of earth to the farthest part of heaven.
Mark 13:24-27

The coming of the Lord is when He gathers His people at the resurrection and rapture.

For this we say to you by the word of the Lord, that we who are alive and remain until the coming of the Lord will by no means precede those who are asleep. 1 Thessalonians 4:15

Every place in the New Testament that has the coming of the Lord is associated with these three things:

The Resurrection
The Rapture
The destruction of the wicked, including the antichrist.

And then the lawless one will be revealed, whom the Lord will consume with the breath of His mouth and destroy with the brightness of His coming. 2 Thessalonians 2:8

JLB

Are you saying the Rapture occurs after the Tribulation?

Absolutely!

The rapture comes after the resurrection, at the coming of the Lord.

For this we say to you by the word of the Lord, that we who are alive and remain until the coming of the Lord will by no means precede those who are asleep.
1 Thessalonians 4:15

Go study the “coming” of the Lord in the Bible and forget about your commentaries.

The coming of the Lord is the Second Coming of Christ.

This occurs on the last day. The Day of the Lord when Jesus Christ returns to gather together His people at the resurrection and rapture, in which He personally destroys the antichrist by the brightness of His coming; His Second Coming.

You have to begin with Daniel 9:25 in order to understand vs. 27.

Daniel 9:25 Know therefore and understand, that from the going forth of the commandment to restore and to build Jerusalem unto the Messiah the Prince shall be seven weeks, and threescore and two weeks: the street shall be built again, and the wall, even in troublous times.

This was Ezra rebuilding the literal Temple, but also prophetic of the Spiritual Temple making it ready for Messiah to return.

Daniel gives six major events that characterize the 490 years.

1. "To finish the transgression" Israel's rejection of Messiah (Jesus) as Israel is brought to restoration at the time of the second coming.

2. "to put an end to sin" The sins of National Israel will not be forgiven until the deliver comes out of Zion and a new covenant is given to them.

3. "made reconciliation for iniquity" Life, death an Resurrection we are now reconciled through the blood of Christ as the final sacrifice

4. "to bring in everlasting righteousness" This is when the Lord Jesus Christ returns to the earth and set up His kingdom.

5. "seal up the vision and prophecy" This will be the time when all prophecy is fulfilled and the Lord Jesus Christ will be Lord of lords and King of kings.

6. "anoint the Most Holy" The Lord Jesus Christ will be anointed when the temple is cleansed at the end of the 2520 days of punishment when He returns.

Leviticus 26 punish 7 times 360 days x 7 = 2520 Biblical time is 360 days makes a year, Numbers 14:34; Ezekiel 4:6; Daniel 4:30-32

Daniel 8:14 And he said unto me, Unto two thousand and three hundred days; then shall the sanctuary be cleansed. (Full 70 weeks/ 490 years which end with the return of Christ)

God speaks to us in scripture of a 3 1/2 year tribulation period (not a seven year) as being time, times and half time which equals 1260 days = 3 ½ years or 3 ½ Times – Hebrew calendar only had 30 days for each month and this is where you get 1260 days or 3 ½ years. (First half and second half of the 2300 days)

[Scripture reference]
Revelation 12:14; Daniel 7:25; Daniel 12:7
1260 days – Revelation 11:3; Revelation 12:6
42 months – Revelation 11:2; Revelation 13:5
2300 days – Daniel 8:13, 14

The 70th week (490 prophetic years) begins with the commandment to restore and rebuild Jerusalem.

Ezra 1: 2 Thus saith Cyrus king of Persia, The LORD God of heaven hath given me all the kingdoms of the earth; and he hath charged me to build him an house at Jerusalem, which is in Judah.

Messiah is cut-off at the crucifixion which is the 69th week (483 prophetic years). God set aside the wrath that will come in the 70th week (490 prophetic years) and revealed the revelation of the mystery to the apostle John and we will be in that gap between the 69th week and the 70th week until God pours out his wrath upon those who refuse to repent during the seven trumpet and seven vial judgments then will Jesus return and sends His angels out to the four corners of the earth to gather His bride to Him.

God‘s purpose.

He is sending those who refuse to accept Jesus Christ as Messiah, a strong delusion, because they desire their own “messiah”.

A 911 warning —

Do you really think that the Muslims will give the Dome of the Rock that sits in the holy place back to the Jews so they can tear it down to build a third temple, I don't think so. Even now the Dome of the Rock is being renovated for the son of perdition to take his literal seat there.

When this beast out of the earth presents lying signs and wonders claiming he is God, God will send strong delusion to those who will believe these lying wonders as they have no truth found in them.

JLB

Therefore we need not look for Christ's 2nd Coming at this time. We need only look for the antichrist and the covenant with Israel and the Temple being built.

You are proving a 7 year Tribulation just like I said. Just like (Dan. 9:27) says. (Dan. 9:25) is clear that Messiah is cut off in the 69th week. That leaves one more week, 7 years, to fulfill the 70 week prophecy.

And, as you also say, there is a gap at this time. The last 7 years will start again when antichrist is revealed and makes a covenant with Israel. (Dan. 9:27. The first 3 and 1/2 years will be somewhat peaceful. Jews covenant with antichrist is in place and he appears as a friend. The Temple is being rebuilt.

3 and 1/2 years later, antichrist breaks that covenant and sets up an abomination in the Temple. (Dan. 9:27) Then last 3 and 1/2 years make up the 'great Tribulation'. That's why (Dan. 9:27) says "in the midst of the week".

I believe the Rapture will coincide with the antichrist being revealed and making a covenant with Israel. The Tribulation begins. Once the Church is removed, then the Holy Spirit ceases to restrain the march of wickedness, known as the mystery of iniquity. (2 Thess. 2:7) "For the mystery of iniquity doth already work: only he who now letteth will let, until he be taken out of the way."

With this order the Christian can look for Christ at any time. We can know that the Rapture can occur at any time. After the 7 year Tribulation, Christ returns all the way to earth to set up the Millennial kingdom.

One week = 7 years.
In the midst of that week = 3 and 1/2 years.
That remaining 70 week = The Tribulation.

Please read this again as it says nothing of a seven year tribulation period nor a so called pretrib rapture.

Dan 9:24 Seventy weeks are determined upon thy people and upon thy holy city, to finish the transgression, and to make an end of sins, and to make reconciliation for iniquity, and to bring in everlasting righteousness, and to seal up the vision and prophecy, and to anoint the most Holy.
Dan 9:25 Know therefore and understand, that from the going forth of the commandment to restore and to build Jerusalem unto the Messiah the Prince shall be seven weeks, and threescore and two weeks: the street shall be built again, and the wall, even in troublous times.
Dan 9:26 And after threescore and two weeks shall Messiah be cut off, but not for himself: and the people of the prince that shall come shall destroy the city and the sanctuary; and the end thereof shall be with a flood, and unto the end of the war desolations are determined.
Dan 9:27 And he shall confirm the covenant with many for one week: and in the midst of the week he shall cause the sacrifice and the oblation to cease, and for the overspreading of abominations he shall make it desolate, even until the consummation, and that determined shall be poured upon the desolate.

Messiah is cut-off at the crucifixion which is part of the 69th week (483 prophetic years). God set aside the end of days wrath that will come in the 70th week (490 prophetic years) and revealed the revelation of the mystery to the apostle John, but does not say . We will be in that gap between the 69th week and the 70th week until God pours out his wrath beginning with the first trumpet up to the sounding of the seventh trumpet as no one knows how long His wrath will last upon those who refuse to repent. At the sounding of the seventh trumpet the son of perdition will take his seat on his throne on the very Temple Mount of God for 3 1/2 years as he wears out the saints. This last antichrist/false prophet/son of perdition will promise peace and safety to all who will bow down to him and take his mark. Those who refuse to take this mark will then be persecuted to death just like those before them throughout the ages. Then will Jesus return and sends His angels out to the four corners of the earth to gather His bride to Him and we will evermore be with Him for eternity.

The 1260 Days

Returning to the 3 1/2 times, which we now know represents 3 1/2 lunar years of 360 days each, using the same methodology as is used for the 70 weeks of Daniel we calculate it to actually represent 1260 literal years. So, Time, Times and half a Time in prophecy is really 1260 years! To confirm this formula we need only to look to the 12th chapter of the book of Revelation-

Rev 12:6 and the woman fled into the wilderness, where she hath a place prepared of God, that they should feed her there a thousand two hundred and threescore days.

Here the woman represents the faithful church, which flees into the wilderness for 1260 days. Again using the day=year formula, this actually speaks of 1260 years that the church would be persecuted. Now look at this next verse from the same chapter-

Rev 12:14 And to the woman were given two wings of a great eagle, that she might fly into the wilderness, into her place, where she is nourished for a time, and times, and half a time, from the face of the serpent.

Here the exact same time of persecution is referred to as 3 1/2 times, again meaning the same period of 1260 days/years as found in verse 6. In the book of Daniel, this exact same period of persecution in church history is found-

Dan 7:25 And he shall speak great words against the most High, and shall wear out the saints of the most High, and think to change times and laws: and they shall be given into his hand until a time and times and the dividing of time.

This verse in context is referring to a period of time that the little horn or antichrist will persecute the true believers or true church, again for 1260 years. The same is true for this next verse-

Dan 12:7 And I heard the man clothed in linen, which was upon the waters of the river, when he held up his right hand and his left hand unto heaven, and sware by him that liveth for ever that it shall be for a time, times, and an half; and when he shall have accomplished to scatter the power of the holy people, all these things shall be finished.

The 42 Months

This same period of persecution is found in the following verses-

Rev 11:2 But the court which is without the temple leave out, and measure it not; for it is given unto the Gentiles: and the holy city shall they tread under foot forty and two months.

Again as in Rev 12, we have a strong relationship between these 42 months of verse 2 and the 1260 days of Rev 11: 3. Forty two months calculates as 42 x 30 (30 days in a lunar month) which equals 1260 days/years. This verse is saying that the Gentiles or unbelievers would trample the people of God (the holy city) for 1260 years. Again this same time period of 42 months is found in Revelation 13-

Rev 13:5 and there was given unto him a mouth speaking great things and blasphemies; and power was given unto him to continue forty and two months.
Rev 13:6 and he opened his mouth in blasphemy against God, to blaspheme his name, and his tabernacle, and them that dwell in heaven.
Rev 13:7 and it was given unto him to make war with the saints, and to overcome them: and power was given him over all kindreds, and tongues, and nations.

This passage speaks of the great and terrible beast from the sea, which actually is the same as the little horn of Daniel, which is to say the antichrist power that would persecute the people of God for 1260 years.

So, here is a complete listing of the passages that deal with the same 1260 year time period of persecution-

* 3 1/2 Times - Rev 12:14, Dan 7:25, Dan 12:7
* 1260 days - Rev 11:3, Rev 12:6
* 42 Months - Rev 11:2, Rev 13:5

You create much smoke to hide the simple fact of (Dan. 9:26-27). It's not difficult.

In the 69th week Messiah is cut off. (9:26)
One week remains for the 70 week fulfillment. (9:24)
That week begins when antichrist confirms the covenant with Israel. (9:27)
3 and 1/2 years later antichrist breaks the covenant and places the abomination in the Temple. (9:27)

In other words, your 3 1/2 Times, 1260 days, 42 months, is the middle of the week. It is the middle of the Tribulation. Just as Daniel said, (9:27), "midst of the week".

Quantrill

Quantrill
I have read or heard that the 70 weeks is a bit more complicated than we might think.
I don't know a good answer tho.
So I would recommend one who has really studied this and I think is legit in most cases.
Chuck Missler..
God bless anyway!
