This is actually my second testimony to our Lord Jesus Christ, since I fell away from the faith in 2004, and only recently returned to him.
My wife and I left what I call a “high-control” religion (many mistakenly call some of them cults, which is different). My wife’s family and all our friends disowned us, and we became disillusioned with religion and God.
We had no spiritual inclination for many years. Eventually my wife got involved with the Wiccans, and I began to lean toward atheism. We both did what was right in our own eyes. We had many tests and trials over the years. My wife almost left me ( I deserved it). I had two heart attacks between 2013 and 2018. By my second heart attack, I felt sure there was no God, and if there was, I hated him.
Then something happened. The overwhelming filth of the world led my wife to leave the Wiccans when she experienced it firsthand. She began to wonder about God and Jesus again. She suggested we go to a small church in town where we knew the pastor from many years ago, and some people we knew were attending. I agreed to go, but only for my wife, whom I love passionately.
We went the next Sunday. It was awkward. I was ready to go back home almost right after we arrived. Then the pastor delivered the message. The Lord spoke to my heart. The right words at the right time. I had determined I wasn’t going to read the Bible or get involved. Two weeks later I started reading the word again. I couldn’t stop. We began to hunger for the service and fellowship. My relationship with my wife improved dramatically and we drew close again. I started reading the word every day and listening to Christian sermons on the radio. We began attending book study. We have a daily devotional together in the morning now and talk about scripture every day.
Now, I feel that the peace of God is reigning in my life. My worry has decreased dramatically, and I feel joyful most of the time. We feel the power of the Holy Spirit in our lives and it gives us great peace. We are grateful that the Shepherd called us home.
I have another testimony to Jesus and something he has done for me recently, but I’ll tell it in another story. Peace to all.

Nice to see that someone shared similar experiences. I too hated God after being saved and I too have returned to the Sheppard recently...about 3 months or so to be exact. Thanks for the testimony:)

Thanks Tessa. We are so much happier than we’ve ever been. The Lord is faithful, of that I’m now positive, because even when we abandoned Him, He didn’t abandon us.
