I just have one. When I was younger, I considered getting a second piercing, but not anymore.

Hi Ms Corrie; you must know how many holes you really want. :)

I don't think age has much to do with it, though. Teenaged girls (and their moms) were getting extra holes pierced in the late 1970s. Which means that a 19 year old in 1979 would be 53 today, and her mom aged. say, 46 in 1979 would be 80 today.

You must know your own likes and preferences. (But multiple holes do not look unusual on any woman today.)

You are so right about the 70's! That's when I had my ears pierced and a few years later, I had them done again so I have 2 on each ear:)

farouk, we are making a little girl a stuffed pig pillow for a gift. We have decided to give her earrings. She is a pierced ear pig.
I think pierced ears on little ones are so cute, and I think my discernment is pretty strong and I have never felt anything unGodly about them:)

I do have concern for kids I see getting a lot of piercings, because these can be permanent, or leave a scar. I know how much I have changed over the years and well, maybe it is like any other scar we carry, like the ones we can't see. God heals those as well. Sort of needed to type that to see how I felt. I don't think I'll worry about the kids;) I'll just pray they know Jesus, or come to know Him;) denise

Hi Ms celebratejesus :

Interesting what you say; yes, I think at least 2 on each earlobe has kind of become a sort of 'almost expectation', rather than one each side. Some people like to imagine that doing 2nds is a temporary fashion thing that won't continue, supposedly a throwback to the 70s and 80s, but I don't. I think having at least the 2nds done is already kind of timeless, don't you?

Blessings.

Now that you mention it, it seems it is sort of "dating" myself, LOL! I will be 61 this month:) I like my pierced ears, can't imagine wearing those clipons like my mom and grandmother had, oochee, ouchee!!

Well, it's kind of already timeless really, to do doubles, thirds, etc. rather than just the one on each side.

Yes, the previous generations that didn't do it so much, kind of missed out on some rather classy fun, I guess.

(And then when they did do it, it was only one hole each side.)

Blessings.

...

Almost hundreds of millions of Hispanic girls have them done at birth by maternity nurses, anyway, unless the mom opts her out. It's a firm part of the culture, anyhow.

Years ago I was at a dance and my partner laid her hand on my chest then remarked, "Oh! I didn't think you were one of those!"

She had felt something (I don't remember what) in my front shirt pocket and thought that my nipple was pierced. That's probably as close as I'll ever get to an ear piercing? The impression that it made on my dance partner still causes me to wonder what she meant exactly.

Lots of people want to say that it's okay. Others may condemn the practice. Some would say that dancing itself is sin. As far as ear piercing goes? It is much more acceptable to a wider ranged audience than other "holes" that seem to indicate a worldliness or sensuality that is better for me to stay away from.

Cordially,
Sparrow

I had one in each lobe and then one higher up in the 90's.That is what was in in the 90's.I had a couple of older women come up to me once and tell me "Honey, you lost one of your earrings".I no longer have any piercings.

Ms Kathi: Oh so you had a cartilage piercing put in, in the 90s, then. :)

Anyway, sometimes those ones are done with a piercing gun, but it's probably advisable to go to a tattoo/piercing parlor where, for a bit more moeny, they will use a needle.

Blessings.

When I was 16 I wanted my ears pierced. My parents said "no". Well, being the strong willed person I could sometimes be I wanted my own way.My girlfriend took me into her garage and she had a needle,a cork and a piece of ice to try and numb my ear.She pierced my ears.It came out just fine.I did not have any problems with it.Although I did have to hide my ears for awhile :)

A guy at work today said he had taken his 6 year old daughter to get her ears pierced this past weekend. He took her to an upscale nice place.I guess she did well. She was very determined and wanted it done badly.

Ms Kathi:

Well, it sounds like that when you were quite a bit older than 16 you still felt you would get a kick out of ear piercing when you had it done again, further up.

I guess these are all stages and phases that people go through; sometimes the age to do it can vary quite a bit.

Blessings.

Ms Kathi: Kind of a rite of passage, really. These days sons often want to do it, too. (Not just tattoos, but earrings as well.)

Blessings.
