I already explained what John 15 is about. Bearing fruit. Not "how to hold onto your salvation".
Also, if your claim were true, then John 10:28 would have to say something like this:
I give them eternal life, and as long as they continue to abide in Me, they shall never perish.
Or, instead...
You're very welcome!
I was trying to show that 1 John 2:19 could easily be believers who didn't adhere to sound doctrine, as I showed from Acts 15 and the "believers of the Pharisee party". Then I quoted other passages that also indicated believers who weren't 'rightly dividing the word".
I...
I did. A point in time action, usually in the past. There is no time aspect to the aorist.
Here are some helps with Greek tenses:

Of course. But it's sad how many misunderstand so many verses. Which has given rise to a bunch of theological positions, all of which contradict each other.
Correct.
Incorrect. v.27 is a "policy" statement, not a practice statement.
I gave an example of the difference between a policy and...
"as long as"......?? Where is that found in Scripture? Please post any Scripture that addresses the sealing with the Holy Spirit and warns believers of how to "break that seal".
But I know that can't be done as there are no verses that say such a thing.
In fact, those sealed with the Spirit...
My posts are either in answer to a poster, or a response to a poster.
No need to apologize for what God has done. Acts 17:26 - From one man he made all the nations, that they should inhabit the whole earth; and he marked out their appointed times in history and the boundaries of their lands...
No, they can't become lost. If that were true, then John 10:28 cannot be true.
I believe what Scripture says and not what people opine.
I've already answered this question. And proved my answer from a number of Scriptures.
Many who have believed HAVE ceased to believe, which is what Jesus meant in Luke 8:13 about those who "believed for a while".
But, if you mean "lose salvation" by the words "fall away", then YES, I believe that "no matter what", they CANNOT lose their salvation.
Yes, because Jesus said as...
I'm interested in what the Word of God says and means.
Well, they have a huge problem then, because the Bible is clear about God's painful discipline towards those who think they can do nothing wrong, or that there will be no consequences for their willful sin.
I don't let such people bother...
I find this opinion frequently expressed, but I've yet to see anyone support their claim from Scripture; that one must continue to believe in order to continue to be saved.
Thanks.
Interesting opinion, but Jesus said differently. He actually said they "believed for a while". And because they DID believe, He DID give them eternal life, per John 5:24 and 6:47, and repeated in 1 John 5:11 and 13. The result is that they shall never perish, per John 10:28.
What they "fell...
No, I never said that. Please don't force words into my mouth. I believe it's been your claim that John 10:27 must be strictly adhered to in order to "never perish", even though there is no such wording or language to support such a claim.
Are you aware of the difference between policy and...
Well, since I've already proven my point about Rom 2:6-8 from other verses in the same context, there is no point in re-hashing them. One either accepts what the Word of God says, or they don't.
What hasn't been shown (and not even close) is any verse that speaks of having to continue in...
I would respectfully ask that any verse actually says this. I don't believe there are any.
And, if there were, then the Bible would be conflicted and contradictory to itself. Because Jesus was clear about those who believe: they possess eternal life (Jn 5:24, 6:47), and as such, shall never...
The issue is whether "never belonged" refers to unbelievers, or believers who adhere to false doctrines.
The verse usually cited is 1 John 2:19 - They went out from us, but they did not really belong to us. For if they had belonged to us, they would have remained with us; but their going...
Actually, we don't see any such "condition" from v.27. What we do see is a simple description of what Jesus' sheep do.
These are descriptions of what Jesus' sheep do. The language is very clear.
This only combines different contexts and trying to make a point that the Bible never makes...
I encourage you to read further into Romans, to understand what Paul was saying in Rom 2:6-8.
In v.12 he said this: "All who sin apart from the law will also perish apart from the law, and all who sin under the law will be judged by the law."
Then he repeats the point of v.6-8 - "For it is...
Jesus also taught that whoever believes HAS (as in currently possesses) eternal life, from John 5:24 and 6:47. This indicates eternal life is possessed WHEN one believes.
Yet, there are no verses that say anything close to this.
In fact, Jesus was clear about the future of those He gives...
