Well today's the day, it's supposed to be the most romantic day of the year. sigh Unfortunately the man I love and am engaged to marry and want to spend the rest of my life with is currently behind bars for a crime I do not believe that he committed.
Although I am going to see him tomorrow and I was able to send him a card, it still isn't the same as actually spending the day with him. After all, even though you don't need Valentine's Day to say I love you to your special someone, it sort of hurts when it seems like everybody else around you has somebody to celebrate it with except you,.. or is that really the case?
Valentine's Day is just about love isn't it? And even if it's most famous for the romantic kind, when did it become a law that you can't celebrate it with your other loved ones like your friends and family members? For there's all different kinds of love and therefore there should be all different kinds of ways to celebrate it.
For starters, there's the greatest love story of all. The love that God gave to us when He gave us His Son to die for our sins. It was a selfless kind of love that we all are undeserving of. Then there's the love that you have for your family that's the lasting and unconditional kind of love.
Finally, there's the love that we have for our friends that we love them and accept them for who they are despite their flaws and the fact that they aren't perfect. The really good news is that once you know the love of Christ and have it inside your heart, you will find out that it falls into all three of these categories.
Don't get me wrong, I am a hopeless romantic and I do believe that there is absolutely nothing wrong with giving roses and chocolates to your sweetie. (especially chocolates! ) However, that shouldn't be the only way that we celebrate it, and nothing else in the whole wide world can compare or top the kind of love that God has for His children.
