Well today's the day, it's supposed to be the most romantic day of the year. sigh Unfortunately the man I love and am engaged to marry and want to spend the rest of my life with is currently behind bars for a crime I do not believe that he committed. :sad

Although I am going to see him tomorrow and I was able to send him a card, it still isn't the same as actually spending the day with him. After all, even though you don't need Valentine's Day to say I love you to your special someone, it sort of hurts when it seems like everybody else around you has somebody to celebrate it with except you,.. or is that really the case?

Valentine's Day is just about love isn't it? And even if it's most famous for the romantic kind, when did it become a law that you can't celebrate it with your other loved ones like your friends and family members? For there's all different kinds of love and therefore there should be all different kinds of ways to celebrate it.

For starters, there's the greatest love story of all. The love that God gave to us when He gave us His Son to die for our sins. It was a selfless kind of love that we all are undeserving of. Then there's the love that you have for your family that's the lasting and unconditional kind of love.

Finally, there's the love that we have for our friends that we love them and accept them for who they are despite their flaws and the fact that they aren't perfect. The really good news is that once you know the love of Christ and have it inside your heart, you will find out that it falls into all three of these categories. :cross

Don't get me wrong, I am a hopeless romantic and I do believe that there is absolutely nothing wrong with giving roses and chocolates to your sweetie. (especially chocolates! :biggrin) However, that shouldn't be the only way that we celebrate it, and nothing else in the whole wide world can compare or top the kind of love that God has for His children.

I believe Valentine day, should be every day, lol.
I spent mine, baby sitting my grandchildren, while their parents went out to dinner.
Loved it!
Of course spoilt them with gifts, lol.
I have been with my husband 46 years, so missing one, now and then, isn't going to hurt us.

I feel for your current situation with your fiancé, I can only imagine the difficulty making the voyage to the prison and seeing your loved one, knowing that you cannot spend the evening together or simply embrace.
Valentines Day is just a day; love is boundless and doesn't recognise days. In extension of the love for a significant other, we surly do have the love for our friends and family. We can use Valentines Day as a beacon, so we can reflect on our appreciation of our relationships with each other.

I hope you enjoyed the day HeIsRisen2018 and seeing your fiancé on this 'special' day brought you joy.

Thank you very much, I did enjoy my day, but on the contrary we can embrace. We get one hug and one kiss before and after every visit and sit right next to each other and hold hands when we want to. :) I am busy eating right now but I will fill you and some other people in on the details on a different thread later on.

That's wonderful; a lot of prisons in the United Kingdom discourage touching as this is a means of distributing contraband.

Enjoy your meal and speak soon! :)
