I was just wondering, I have spent most the day watching movies and lazing around and I am extremely exhausted. So why is it that your body gets so tired out when you're not actually doing anything?

Watching movies is a lot of activity for your brain. It has to process the images from your eyes and ears, then make sense of them. Your brain uses 20% of your daily calories all by itself, even though it doesn't move.

Yeah, it's funny, I've heard that we only use twenty percent of our brains anyways, so I wonder what that other seventy percent is used for.

That 20% stuff is a myth. Brain scans have shown that no matter what one is doing, all brain areas are always active.

Your brain is working very hard all of the time, and needs its rest at night.

That isn't what they said. They said the brain burns 20% of the calories your body burns.
They weren't saying we only use 20% of our brain.

Hollywood has made a number of movies promoting that myth, so people get confused. They don't realize that everything from Hollywood is pretend.

you need sleep, always. true story. the more natural the sleep you can get, the better. ive found that even sleeping 3, 4 hours and then stuggling thru the next day is better than 0 sleep and getting all giddy and weird the next day...and its also a lot better than "sleep" from any sort of sedative.

I haven't done much today, either...it'll soon snow here in The Southland, so its been slow going, lots of relaxing...but I still plan on sleeping soon, if possible. Its also about overall health and stabilty...maintaining times in which one is active, times in which one is at rest, even if sleep is elusive. some structure to the day, night, etc....always a good thing. :)
