Our son is a huge Fall Out Boy fan. Some songs cross the line, IMO, but he'll be 20 in a few months... He's got Julie and I into some of their songs, so we agreed to take him and our 17-year-old daughter to the FOB concert this weekend.

They gave an almost perfectly clean show at DTE Energy Theater, which is a big outdoor amphitheater near Detroit, but the opening act was a guy, a rapper, named Wiz Khalifa. I've never heard of him before this concert and had no idea what he is all about. I'll tell you what he's all about if you don't know: smoking pot and having sex. The opening scene on the jumbotrons were of sex with full frontal nudity. He came out with a joint in his hand and announced that it was time to burn and get high.

There is a hill above the covered seats, and that's where we were sitting. People, teens and adults, lit up pot both rolled up and in small bongs! He tossed out huge blow-up joints that were about 30 feet long, 10 feet wide, and the crowd bounced them around. His lyrics were ALL about getting high on pot!

Security was everywhere and didn't seem to give a rip as long as it didn't get violent. We took the kids and left the hill to go back in the concession area until FOB came out. They were good, but I couldn't believe all the illicit drugs that were rampant throughout the theater. My eyes were blind to this aspect of society, and I shall not return to DTE Theater.

Has anyone ever seen something like this before aside from stories of the 60's?

nothing new. heard about it from the friends, the scary thing is even if that was busted they wouldn't jail all of them

Hmm. I like Fall Out Boy. I'll be careful about what sorts of concerts I attend. Had no idea.
But hey, I was also surprised to find that it's true that so many of the top songs in the country are about sex. I knew songs like that existed, but I didn't fully believe that they made up such a large portion of the most popular. There are so many other things you can sing about, so I don't get the point.

Fall Out Boy's Patrick Stump and Andy Hurley do not even believe in God. I use to go to Metallica, seen KISS 7 times, Anthrax, so on. I did not go expecting everyone to be praising Jesus, then again I was not saved at the time either.

1Jn_2:15 Love not the world, neither the things that are in the world. If any man love the world, the love of the Father is not in him.
1Jn_2:16 For all that is in the world, the lust of the flesh, and the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life, is not of the Father, but is of the world.

I have lots to say, but will hold back.

The same spirit operating at these concerts is the same spirits in strip clubs and Marilyn Manson concerts.
Did you check in with God before agreeing to take your son and daughter there?

yeah...when I went to a free Flaming Lips concert in Atlanta (sponsored by Southern Comfort, lol), there was open drug use...in centennial park. Actually...Guided by Voices concert, same deal, except in a venue in Charleston.

I think its par for the course these days, honestly. Good of you to look out for your kids.

I just can't believe that, in today's litigious world, a venue like DTE would blindly permit all of that to happen on their watch. One car goes off the road after leaving, and they're in for millions of damages. Worse to me was this snapshot of society that I'm blind to. I rarely have a beer, and no one I know (to my knowledge) does drugs. To see it out in the open with no reserve was stunning.

The good thing that came out of it was a canvas of conversations. Filling our minds with pure things and not letting these seeds take root in our hearts. I'd say this is the decay of society, but in the 60's this was all over society, not just in an amphitheater. Now, I've seen it first hand.

It's never gone away since the 60's. Every major name secular concert I've been to has had open pot smoking with no one stopping it. I'm not of the mindset that I have to stay away from any place I might see someone sinning, so I don't stay away from things like concerts if I like the band. I just take personal responsibility for my own actions. But yeah, pretty much any concert the young folks would be interested in is like that. The full frontal nudity and giant inflatable joints being bounced around might be a little worse than normal, but the actual drug use has always been there.

It's been awhile but yeah. Aerosmith/Pat Travers 1982 Ohio Center, Columbus Ohio. The Men's room was a veritable convenience store for any drug you wanted. I was in it thick at the time. My sac o' weed payed for the entire night and I left with more money than I went with. Not a good scene unless one is one with the world.

I used to think the evilness about the music was in the lyrics. Later I decided it was the drugs. While those both are of the world, it's not the worst part. From what I've been studying on and off recently, the very worst thing about these rock n roll concerts, heavy metal, all that, is...where they tune their instruments on the scale. With rock and roll and heavy metal came a tuning down in frequency. We're vibrational beings and the sound waves do affect us to our core.

The proof is in the atmosphere and the violence displayed at the concerts. This is why you never hear about concert riots at say, a Sarah Brightman concert, but do at a lot of the headbanger concerts.

I went to the House of Blues in Myrtle Beach to see a concert several months ago and ended up walking out the door. Security told me I can't come back in after stepping out, I said I have no intention on it! Their stage is set up like some sort of ecumenical world religion altar now. A lot of the modern day music industry is hijacked by Satan.

Edit: Picture for reference. "Unity in diversity. All are one." Pretty much all of them are like this now.

Where's the cross?

so when we have death metal played in churches, where is the violent believers?

:helmet:lol Well you see, it's because the Holy Spirit is there too, and it's the stronger Spirit so the darkness has to retreat in the presence of such power and holiness. :salute

You said vibrations of the auditory nature.I can look up what the lowest on the human hearing spectrum I bet it's going to be 55khz ac,the train when it's not blowing it's whistle.

I'm not sure what it is exactly but you're prolly close at least. We pick up on those vibrations and it affects us. This is why some music makes us feel good, and other music doesn't. We all have receivers and transmitters for electromagnetic/spiritual energy, and incidentally, the heart is a stronger transmitter than the brain by 4X. Higher frequencies are better for us. God is at a higher frequency, His vibration is Love. So love is a higher frequency. There's loads of vids about this on youboob, lol.

I saw a couple of hobos fighting with each other by the rail yard the other day. I guess the train made them do it?

Maybe. Perhaps that's one of the reasons that we're instructed to meditate on the Word of God? The spiritual vibrations of it. Faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the Word of God. :)

Lord the Internet.just because it's on you tube it most be so.Uhm dog are vulnerable too Much higher freqs then we are.sonic blasts of loud but low freq can kill as ,aka base,as can high pitched sounds. Sonogram aren't detected by our ears but you know they are using sounds. Do yourself a favor stop mixing pagan myths with the bible.chi has vibrations. Swap the word love with that it's same concept.

I also enjoy the fact that God could have used any medium for creation, He could have thought all into existence, blinked into existence, snapped His fingers into existence or whatever, but rather He spoke into existence.

And the Second of the Trinity is God the Word, the Logos.

The power of life and death is in the tongue.

Food for thought on speech/vibration.

So the bible has Astral vibrations?it can talk audibly.the bible is an in ament book.the Holy Spirit is what uses the bible to edify, correct etc
