and might i also remind YOU just because one /you says it is correct ..does NOT make it correct .out of the so called discussion rules i gave you just 2 of my sources.. i also stated that what got question was.. i also gave you barnes commentary which is not a web site lets look at john Gill who studied un spurgeon (spelling)
Verse 8
We are confident, I say, and willing rather,.... We are cheerful in our present state, being assured of future happiness; though we choose rather

to be absent from the body; that is, to die, to depart out of this world. The interval between death, and the resurrection, is a state of absence from the body, during which time the soul is disembodied, and exists in a separate state; not in a state of inactivity and sleep, for that would not be desirable, but of happiness and glory, enjoying the presence of God, and praising of him, believing and waiting for the resurrection of the body, when both will be united together again; and after that there will be no more absence, neither from the body, nor from the Lord:

and to be present with the Lord. This was promised to Christ in the everlasting covenant, that all his spiritual seed and offspring should be with him. This he expected; it was the joy of this which was set before him, that carried him through his sufferings and death with so much cheerfulness; this is the sum of his prayers and intercession, and what all his preparations in heaven are on the account of. It is this which supports and comforts the saints under all their sorrows here, and which makes them meet death with pleasure, which otherwise is formidable and disagreeable to nature; and even desirous of parting with life, to be with Christ, which is far better.
i seldom use him i mainly stick with barnes and clarke this makes 3 sources in agreement .if i search hard enough long enough i could maybe find on in agreement with you.. i go by 2 or 3 sources just like the Bible say by 2 or 3 .. might i add i have used other sources but not going to waste my time posting.. if i aint here->dead and i am saved where am i at ? still in grave in a casket wearing what ever the funeral director put on me.. we have those perished in 9-11 no dead body where are they at absent from the body present with the Lord 1+1=2

Where did I ever say in any of the forum topics, as even in this one, to believe me as I am correct and everyone one else is wrong. I would rather you not believe me, but take all the scriptures I give and study them apart from what man has indoctrinated into your mind.

I'm only using this as an example people so let us not start a debate about pretrib. Look at how many commentaries teach about a pretrib rapture and how many believe in this theory. I use to believe everything that was ever taught to me by preachers, but then started questioning many things they were teaching. It's when I question certain things that just doesn't set well in my spirit as I read the scriptures they use that I start searching all pertaining scriptures they give and extend my search by cross referencing to get the full context. This is why you see me use many scriptures so everyone can go study them for themselves.

I have Spiritual fellowship with the Lord everyday, and am in a physical body that is alive.

When I, (that is to say my body), die, I will be absent from my body.

JLB

It's only when we physically die are we then absent from this fleshly body as our breath/spirit goes back to God who gave it making us a living soul. As being yet alive we will always struggle between flesh and spirit just like Paul did. His desire was to be absent from the body and be present with the Lord, but knew that would only happened when he died. When we are walking in the Spirit we are absent from the flesh having fellowship with the Lord.

It's when we turn back to the flesh is when we break that fellowship like Adam did when he was deceived because flesh is enmity against the spirit. God didn't ask Adam where he was as being literally hidden from God in the bushes as God knew exactly where he was. What God was asking is why did he chose to break that fellowship Adam had with Him.

I love your attitude and overall theme about the walk of the Spirit vs the walk of the flesh.

Amen.

that's why they give you a bible when you get saved that's why you take a bible to church and follow .when given scripture .. search the scriptures you/we should have discernment /unction that you may know all things. we can USE commentaires as a gauge .have i ran on to things i dont agree with you bet i have. . you have said you carried a evang license .
i will assure you that you had to do a study of MAN material . so far all your points of defense does not line up. every preacher at one time another has used commentaries in studies . i HAVE others have used quotes from other ministers .that have far more knowledge than me. your a Big end times/revelation fan..
i will assure you some of your beliefs did not come based on solo scripture.. many interpretations can be made in study... my brother who has been preaching a good 40 years.. is pre trib.. me i am more mid trib . the Church i attend the pastor would totally blow your mind with REV teaching .
i have heard this preacher stuff many times.. this has NOTHING to do with pre trib.. in fact i could care less about the pre mid trib teachings period..

the subject is absent from the Body present with the Lord..

if you would just answer this question ..which is probably a cold trail chase but here it goes. if i am absent from my body physically dead ..then where is my next step? the Bible says it is appointed unto man once to die. after this the Judgment... did i get that scripture right? so going by that scripture my next awakening moment would be in a Grave /casket ? or i would be????????? where

" apart from what man has indoctrinated into your mind. " i do my best to be a loner . see i am ordained Gen Baptist.. but split from many of what they teach. like some of what southern baptist teach.. i even like on the emphasis of worship the pentecostal teaches .. but no my belief has come from study .so i do ask please dont use the indoctrinated by man trump card. i don't play them games.. i used commentaires as a gauge by what your saying even though i already had the answer . so i await your answer or you can raise the white flag to say this is going no place and you will hold to your belief and i will mine.. ball is in your court

I only had an Evangelist license for God's timing and purpose when I was called of God to go into the prisons and teach the inmates the gospels. I had to take a course in teacher training to be state certified. It had nothing to do with learning scriptures. It was about how to be an effective teacher. It was up to the Pastor to know who was Spiritually equipped in the word to take it to the inmates and then I had to pray first to see if that is where God was leading me into.

I will use certain commentaries, but not very often, but only for the purpose of looking up and studying the scriptures they use as some commentaries are spot on and I will quote some things from them as they say it better than I can, but I sure myself before I quote from them.

I have no need to defend myself nor do I have any right to tell others to believe that of what I teach. It's up to each one of us to search out the scriptures and allow the Holy Spirit teach us. As far as my knowledge in Revelations I have blown the mind of many, even some Pastors, but can not share certain things here because of the ToS. All my beliefs come straight from what I study in scripture and the history and culture of that era.

In my OP I am not talking about being physically dead being absent from the body to be present with the Lord. What I am talking about is the battle between the flesh and the spirit within our body. This I believe is what Paul was teaching in 2 Corinthians 5:1-11.

If we are in the flesh we are yet carnal in this body having no fellowship with the Lord. Now, when we have mortified the things of the flesh and are risen with Christ we seek those things which are above, where Christ sitteth on the right hand of God. We set our affection on things above, not on things on the earth for you are dead, and your life is hid with Christ in God. When Christ, who is our life, shall appear, then shall you also appear with him in glory, Colossians 3:1-4.

It was only Paul's desire to be absent from this fleshly body that tormented him as it does all of us, and to rather be with the Lord. Paul also taught about this in Romans 7. If we remain in the flesh seeking the desires of the world we have no fellowship with the Lord. Its only when we are in the Spirit that we walk in the Spirit having fellowship with Him.

Another way of saying this is to be absent from body (carnal flesh) to be present with the Lord (Spiritual renewed inner man).

feel free to hold to that .you have added to beyond what paul is writing that is exactly what paul is saying absent-from the Body is dead present with the Lord is heaven. in my last post underlined in red i asked questions .you keep side stepping them.. the battle of the flesh and our body is spiritual warfare which is out lined in several books of the Bible Galatians 5 i think with out looking it up and Ephesians 6 .

i am rejecting your theory.. as per tos well there worthless. the main rules that needs to be in place no spamming no ugliness rudeness, no obscene gestures . then every thing else based on what we call the golden rule .do unto others as you would have them do unto you.. follow that and all disagreements would be respectful..

but since the flesh likes to use the words false teaching .the Golden rule is broken.. do i reject what your saying about absent from the body present with the Lord ? yes i do i %100 disagree and i stand on that this make the 3rd page to be honest i am tired of it. this is turning unhealthy for my spirit man . i enjoy a good discussion but it is no longer that.. i am done with this your simply to far out there for me and i don't mean knowledge . i could highlight some other things but will refrain..in the the words of christ it is finished
