Is a communist a radical?
My cousin is not a person that has peace!

I'm not going to generalise as every individual is different. Jesus said love your enemies because his core belief was love. If people hate, persecute, or try cencor others because they have a different opinion or belief, then they are not peaceful and have no love in them.

Many claim they are peaceful people and believe in love and equality yet they hate there enemies, that is anyone who disagree with there ideaoloies. There core belief is not love and peace.

I don't know if he believes in love.
He sure does hate a lot of things.
Jesus said He gives us peace...not as the world knows peace...does the world know peace? I don't think so.

Jesus gives people peace because he leads them back to the garden where they walk with God. The Spirit of God is within you.

The world does not know peace because it cannot stop fighting over beliefs, and it's not just "religious" either, whatever religion even means.

Amen.
There's no such thing as equality.
I have a communist cousin.
He told me once that it's unfair that some drive a Fiat and some drive a Mercedes. He said we should all be driving the same car. I informed him that if we did....it wouldn't be the Mercedes (as he hoped) it would be the Fiat!

Should we also be required to wear the same clothing, eat the same foods, etc.?

Right!
I've read sci fi novels like this.
I just hope Jesus comes back before that.
China was like that till not too long ago....
Everyone looked the same...

the idea is to tame the dark side of capitalism (oligarchy, corporate excess, pockets of extreme poverty) by taxing -extremely high- incomes and estates. the -vast- majority of people would only benefit.

I think its also worth noting that this is more about bringing back the New Deal-style taxation policies than it is about introducing anything novel or genuinely new. A quick glance back over American history shows that FDR's New Deal policies helped bring Ameria out of The Great Depression. The post-WWII prosperity years were, in part, a result of New Deal economic policies and social programs.

looking at other nations...in the late 19th century, Germany began implementing disability payments. altruism? hardly. -unregulated- capitalism was creating some serious class warfare, and the socialists were gaining ground. so...disability payments, later other social programs...helped -stabilize capitalism- by reducing inequality, enhancing prosperity for the masses, and averting full on violent class warfare.

personally, im not a communist...i just think the US needs to revisit The New Deal, for the good of the people. ((off soap box)) :)

The whole world could have equality right now if they would love their neighbor as much as they love themselves.
I think if someone has a surplus of resources or money and they decide to give it to someone in need that is wonderful. But when a government system decides what part of my income should go to other people that is where you have trouble because there will never be enough. Its not freedom.
The US was basically founded on outrage over excess taxes (plus no representation) on goods. Now we can't breathe without paying taxes, insurance etc.

I know tax and income are different.
I just think it worth noting that our concepts of fairness and the like might not always be God's.

Fairness is everyone pays the same rate or amount. Just as everyone pays the same fine for the same traffic offence.

If someone earns 100 and they pay 10% tax that is 10 and if someone earns 1000 they pay 10% tax that is 100. The higher income still contributes more and the rate is fair and even. I thought it was about equality so no groups should get labelled and pick on. Everything is full of double standards.

The total opposite of equality is labelling a certain group of people and saying they should pay a higher rate than others.

I find this worlds liberal and equality logic mind blowingly silly.

Why was the tithe 10% for all. Because it was the fairest. Everyone payed the same rate.

The problem is, not everyone did. The heads of state for example didn't live the same lifestyle as the general population. That's the problem. In a true socialist society, everyone and I mean everyone would get the same pay no matter what job, career, or position they had including heads of state. But there are always some that put themselves above the rest.

Don't pick on the rich. They build houses, build boats, buy lots of food in restaurants, they stay in hotels, they build business's, they keep people employed.
Don't tempt me. I have very ,very ,few routes I like on the beach.these here have money but pass laws to use tax money to favor them.

Ocean drive a less traveled road then 14th ave,has been resurfaced twice in a decade.hmm both have business on them.could it be ..nah

How taxes get spent is another situation. I was just talking about tax rate equality and fairness.

Does God have double standards?

I'm not defending the progressive tax base but when millionaires complain about things they spend on.im sure Jesus understands wealth ,but do you think some can live in small homes
We have one home,26 bathrooms, double bedroom with guest house.2 people live there.

I'm sure they needed that house ,badly .I'm hardly a legalist, but one can say ,one should encourage moderation and less status purchases .

That's good. You realize that unless you are rich you are going to have your taxes raised much higher, right? Because the government is going to spend what it spends. If the rich are not taxed at a higher rate and an equal rate has to be arrived at that meets the government's demands, that rate will be much higher for the average person. And are you ok with that higher rate applying to a single mother earning $18,000 a year?
Does she still get food stamps? Or if she does, to be fair, does the rich guy get them too?

I don't think a true socialist country could exist in real life.
I hear Norway is pretty nice from those that live there.
It's very beautiful too....but who could put up with that cold?

I think every system is not good...
but out of all of them, I'd have to say that capitalism is the best.

Socialism takes the motivation out of people.

You can't say this Jason....
They might, and most probably are, helping out the needy a LOT MORE than you or I ever could.

Did you ever consider this?

I was going to say...
How about the govt living within its budget...like families do.

But then services are cut.
But maybe it's because they want to do too much?
A lot of money is wasted on dumb projects.
The government was originally established for the protection of its citizens.

Look where we are today.
