Sabbath is the seventh day as in the numbering of days according to God makes it a Saturday. It is the day God rested after creating everything including man and woman. God sanctified it meaning He set it apart form all the other days as a day He rested from all His work. From the time of Adam to that of Mt. Sinai it was never commanded as being a holy day or that all mankind was to rest on that day. It was a holy day as God being Holy and rested that day as we are commanded to keep that day as a memorial of all that God created was good.

I know it's late and I'm about to go to bed, but just out of curiosity makes you say that it was originally a Saturday?

for_his_glory,
re: "Scripture is not silent with regard to a change from the seventh day to the first. You can find this in Daniel 7:25..."

Oh, come on. You know I meant that scripture doesn't direct a change of observance from the 7th day to the 1st day.

If you deeply and sincerely meditate on the Scriptures you will find the answer. We don't spoon feed.

Psalm 1:1-2 King James Version (KJV)

1 Blessed is the man that walketh not in the counsel of the ungodly, nor standeth in the way of sinners, nor sitteth in the seat of the scornful.

2 But his delight is in the law of the Lord; and in his law doth he meditate day and night.

Amen. Great scripture, one of my favorite.

It would be good to discuss the commandments, under the concept of the the New Covenant.

Jesus is the Mediator of the New Covenant or New Testament, as Moses was the mediator of the Covenant of Sinai, which is why it’s called the law of Moses, as the new is called the law of Christ.

Each covenant is governed by laws and commandments.

Most people today don’t understand that a covenant, especially a blood covenant is a serious matter, and should be entered into with all soberness, and sincerity.

  • Bear one another’s burdens, and so fulfill the law of Christ.

Brethren, if a man is overtaken in any trespass, you who are spiritual restore such a one in a spirit of gentleness, considering yourself lest you also be tempted. Bear one another’s burdens, and so fulfill the law of Christ. Galatians 6:1-2

Do not be deceived, God is not mocked; for whatever a man sows, that he will also reap. For he who sows to his flesh will of the flesh reap corruption, but he who sows to the Spirit will of the Spirit reap everlasting life. Galatians 6:7-8

  • he who sows to the Spirit will of the Spirit reap everlasting life.

Let’s work together to see the body of Christ built up with good doctrine, and encouraged in the faith.

If what you just said was true and that same fact applied to us today, then do tell me what the cross was for.

To be a sacrifice for our sins.

Now, if we should sin, we can confess our sin and be forgiven, as well as cleansed of all unrighteousness.

  • If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.

If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. If we say that we have not sinned, we make Him a liar, and His word is not in us.
My little children, these things I write to you, so that you may not sin. And if anyone sins, we have an Advocate with the Father, Jesus Christ the righteous. And He Himself is the propitiation for our sins, and not for ours only but also for the whole world.
Now by this we know that we know Him, if we keep His commandments. He who says, “I know Him,” and does not keep His commandments, is a liar, and the truth is not in him. But whoever keeps His word, truly the love of God is perfected in him. By this we know that we are in Him. 1 John 1:9-2:5

Elihoenai,
re: "We don't spoon feed."

You're going to need to since none of your comments seem to have anything to do with HeIsRisen2018's question.

"Seem" is the Operative Word. Those requiring Spoon Feeding are lost souls who are brainwashed and exploited in the Fake Christian Churches. Those that are restoring Elohim's/God's True Church exercise due diligence and painstakingly search the Scriptures daily.

Acts 17:11 Young's Literal Translation (YLT)

11 and these were more noble than those in Thessalonica, they received the word with all readiness of mind, every day examining the Writings whether those things were so;

Scripture is not silent with regard to a change from the seventh day to the first. You can find this in Daniel 7:25 if you understand who it is Daniel is speaking about, but I will not say who it is that changed Saturday Sabbath to Sunday, but they do worship the sun god Ra.
I also read your post to me above.

The church at the time changed worship from Saturday to Sunday.
I remember that it was changed to remember the day of Christ's resurrection...the first day of the week (Sunday).

You agree that Saturday is the correct day?
I don't think this will make too much difference since we don't really keep any day as God's anymore; unless one is retired and could do as he pleases.

Some teens are engaged in sport activities and most are centered around Sunday. They would also have to be deprived. And Saturday is not out of the picture.

I don't understand how we could possibly keep the Lord's day as it was kept in the O.T. times. ANY Lord's Day...Sat or Sun.

Amen!

Both the Old and New Covenant is governed by Laws and Commandments. This is a life and death matter.

Are both Covenants governed by the same Laws and Commandments? Is the Old Covenant an absolute must for Salvation?

Matthew 9:16-17 Young's Literal Translation (YLT)

16 `And no one doth put a patch of undressed cloth on an old garment, for its filling up doth take from the garment, and a worse rent is made.

17 `Nor do they put new wine into old skins, and if not -- the skins burst, and the wine doth run out, and the skins are destroyed, but they put new wine into new skins, and both are preserved together.'

The O.C. and the N.C. are governed by different laws.
The O.C. had 613 of them....
The N.C. has only 2.

If we keep those 2 laws....all the laws will be covered.
Mathew 22:37-39

The N.C. does not abolish the 10 commandments, the moral law, but gives us a new way to keep the law. Before it was through legality (thus The Law), but the N.C. is through love for God and help from the Holy Spirit.

Of course the O.C. is not required for salvation...
For if it was sufficient, the N.C. would not have been necessary.

Yes I know and that was my point. I was just simply stating that that proved what Elihoenai said was false about having to earn our way to Heaven because without His sacrifice that would be impossible.

Umm,.. excuse me? I have learning disabilities and I don't comprehend everything that scripture has to offer us so does this mean that you are calling me a fake servant of Christ? I hope not, because I'm seriously insulted right now! In fact, I can't remember the last time where I was this insulted! :mad

Although I don't know whether or not scripture is silent on this altogether or not,.. I must agree with you as I didn't see anything like that in the piece of Scripture offered. :/

Are both Covenants governed by the same Laws and Commandments?

By both, do you mean the law of Moses, or the Abrahamic Covenant?

I understand that you are comparing one of these to the New Covenant.

Which one?

We have the Abrahamic Covenant.

Then we have the Abrahamic Covenant with the law added to it temporarily until the Seed should come.

The we have the law taken out of the way, and the Covenant renewed into the New Covenant.

So it’s really one covenant that has been modified, and has evolved into what we have today.

I don’t see where he said we have to earn our way into heaven.

It may seem like he is implying that, but there also may be something else to what he is saying.

Let’s give him a chance to further explain himself, if he will.

Thanks. JLB

I know it's late and I'm about to go to bed, but just out of curiosity makes you say that it was originally a Saturday?

Sabbath has always been a Saturday being the seventh day of the week. You have to study Exodus 12 in how God actually set up the Luna calendar of months and days.

You said: Maybe, maybe not. Just so it's understood that scripture is silent with regard to a change from the seventh day to the first.

I took that to mean you didn't know how it got changed.

It's all good.

So true.

However, from the Lord’s perspective there is one commandment. All commandments and laws and precepts, statutes and judgements, are all about how to go about keeping or obeying this commandment.

“Now this is the commandment, and these are the statutes and judgments which the Lord your God has commanded to teach you, that you may observe them in the land which you are crossing over to possess, that you may fear the Lord your God, to keep all His statutes and His commandments which I command you, you and your son and your grandson, all the days of your life, and that your days may be prolonged. Therefore hear, O Israel, and be careful to observe it, that it may be well with you, and that you may multiply greatly as the Lord God of your fathers has promised you—a land flowing with milk and honey.’
“Hear, O Israel: The Lord our God, the Lord is one! You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your strength. Deuteronomy 6:1-4

This is the Commandment -

  • You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your strength.

God is love.

His Commandments are about love.

For this is the love of God, that we keep His commandments. And His commandments are not burdensome. 1 John 5:3

The way we obey the commandment to love God, is to Love our neighbor.

If someone says, “I love God,” and hates his brother, he is a liar; for he who does not love his brother whom he has seen, how can he love God whom he has not seen? And this commandment we have from Him: that he who loves God must love his brother also. 1 John 4:20-21

Whoever hates his brother is a murderer, and you know that no murderer has eternal life abiding in him. 1 John 3:15

We would be hard pressed to convince anyone that we love our neighbor if we are stealing from him, or committing adultery with his wife, or coveting his belongings...

Were you not spoon fed as a baby until you learned to feed yourself? It's the same principal with learning the scriptures as all of us started out with very little knowledge other than knowing Jesus died for our sins. From there we grew in knowing when, why and how of Christ birth, death and resurrection as being God's plan of his salvation before the foundation of the world. We grow in faith and the knowledge of God's word as it comes by the Holy Spirit working through others to help teach us. If what is being taught does not line up with scripture then these teachings are that of man and not the Holy Spirit.

Let’s be about teaching the truth to all who are hungry.

Please, let’s be patient with people and take the time to explain and teach from the scriptures.

Of course I agree with you.

If we love God, truly, we will do as He commands.
Very well said, as usual.

The reason I like Mathew 22:37-39 is because Jesus said that we are to love our neighbor AS OURSELVES.

If we don't accept ourself and love ourself,,,it is impossible to love anyone else.

At some point in life, we need to be satisfied with who we are and then we'll be able to love everyone else too.

I like to think that Jesus was the first and the greatest psychologist

So many self-help books on the shelves. If a person would get to know God, it would truly cut down a lot on their problems because if God is for us, who can be against us?

Yes, Saturday is the seventh day of the week. Exodus 20:8-11 is God's instruction on keeping the Saturday Sabbath. It was never part of the seven commandments given to Noah after the flood, but given to Moses after the exodus as the Israelites stayed at MT. Sinai for a year before entering the promised land.

Many things have changed through out the generations from the time of Noah and it was odd that God did not give him the sabbath commandment, but only gave it to Moses in God's laws as God was pretty explicit in how we are to keep it. But, then we read what what is written in Matthew 12:1-13 especially vs. 8 For the Son of man is Lord even of the sabbath day. He that commanded the law of the sabbath could also dispense with it as we can see in the writings of Matthew. Why can Jesus dispense of it, because He is the Lord of the sabbath as Christ is now our sabbath as we rest in Him.

Colossians 2:16 Let no man therefore judge you in meat, or in drink, or in respect of an holyday, or of the new moon, or of the sabbath days: 17 Which are a shadow of things to come; but the body is of Christ.

Christ is greater than the temple and has all the perfections of the divine nature in Him and is equal to God in power and glory, even as a mediator who has all power in heaven and earth that God gave Him. Christ is Lord of the sabbath.
