I let in run for a good 20 minutes and it was still just "preparing"

I don't know if I have shared this on this board, but a few years ago a friend of mine asked me to help clear up some memory on his laptop. Well, I started moving some things onto an external hard drive, but it really wasn't making a dent in the used up space. So, I started looking at the folder sizes and what did I find? The folder for the antivirus software (norton) was HUGE! It was literally taking about 90% of the space on the hard drive. I looked a little deeper and found that the program was doing backups every day, and it had stored backups on that computer since my friend first got it. Over two years.

So, I removed all but the last few backups and pretty much solved his space problem.

my back ups are not on my hard drive I send them to a 1TB expansion hd thats all I use it for

Anything new to report?
yes I looked at my Seagate hd and I am only using 27% of 1 TB so I deleted all back ups
mainly because everything on my computer runs fine. I did not need a back up now.
after deleting all back ups I done a backup and it was successful to my hd so I think all
is well I will do another back up in couple days then I will know for sure.

ok my second back up went fine so there must have been some corruption in the original back ups. all is well thanks for the help
