Is baptism required for salvation?

Great discussion topic.

Here is something to think about.

And having been perfected, He became the author of eternal salvation to all who obey Him, Hebrews 5:9

In my opinion, obeying Him is required for salvation.

JLB

what is your view on eternal salvation to all who obey Him

I may not understand you’re question correctly but here goes...

I believe Salvation begins by obeying the Gospel of Jesus Christ.

JLB

I believe Salvation begins by obeying the Gospel of Jesus Christ.
i agree .but let me go farther in questioning.. to what are we obeying ? i mean the night i got saved God spoke to me and said its now or never ..i had no idea how to be saved. i dont mind helping someone out with words to say. but i do not go along with mass alter call . last easter i attended a community ester service presented by the local 1st baptist enjoyed the evang preached it straight. but at the end he led with prayer for salvation. then had those who said the prayer raise a hand then come down, then designated persons talked in private ( no issue with that part ) but back the line of question obey the gospel. explain your view

but back the line of question obey the gospel. explain your view

For with the heart one believes unto righteousness, and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation. For the Scripture says, “Whoever believes on Him will not be put to shame.” For there is no distinction between Jew and Greek, for the same Lord over all is rich to all who call upon Him. For “whoever calls on the name of the Lord shall be saved.”How then shall they call on Him in whom they have not believed? And how shall they believe in Him of whom they have not heard? And how shall they hear without a preacher? And how shall they preach unless they are sent? As it is written:
“How beautiful are the feet of those who preach the gospel of peace,Who bring glad tidings of good things!”
But they have not all obeyed the gospel. For Isaiah says, “Lord, who has believed our report?” So then faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the word of God. Romans 10:10-17

again

since it is a righteous thing with God to repay with tribulation those who trouble you, and to give you who are troubled rest with us when the Lord Jesus is revealed from heaven with His mighty angels, in flaming fire taking vengeance on those who do not know God, and on those who do not obey the gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ. 2 Thessalonians 1:6-8

again

For the time has come for judgment to begin at the house of God; and if it begins with us first, what will be the end of those who do not obey the gospel of God? 1 Peter 4:17

JLB

For with the heart one believes unto righteousness, and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation. For the Scripture says
if one has not done this and romans 10:10 with the heart man believes. no body is saved . back to my question if i am lost person seeking christ and i see the word obey. what am i to obey . the argument could be by faith through grace . noted most say saved by grace through faith. seldom is heard used obey the gospel of God

if one has not done this and romans 10:10 with the heart man believes. no body is saved .

I don’t understand what this means...

Could you explain a little more what you mean by the statement?

Could you explain a little more what you mean by the statement?
if you have NOT believed from the heart its with the heart man believes with the mouth we only speak .other wise just lip service

if i am lost person seeking christ and i see the word obey. what am i to obey .

The Gospel command to repent.

Repent means to turn to God as our Lord.

To submit to Him as our Lord; to obey Him as Lord, The King of the kingdom of God.

Repent is about changing the lord we are serving, and changing the kingdom we are in.

Repent is about turning from darkness, the domain of darkness ruled by Satan, to the kingdom of God, whereby we are transferred out of the kingdom of darkness, ruled by the Devil, into the kingdom of God; the kingdom of His dear Son.

  • He has delivered us from the power of darkness and conveyed us into the kingdom of the Son of His love. Colossians 1:13

This starts by repenting; turning to God in which we turn away from Satan as our lord.

The way we do this is by confessing Jesus as Lord.

that if you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you will be saved. For with the heart one believes unto righteousness, and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.
Romans 10:9-10

Key Verse:

  • with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.

JLB

if you have NOT believed from the heart its with the heart man believes with the mouth we only speak .other wise just lip service

Yes these two dynamic elements are the catalyst of salvation by faith.

Believe and confess.

These two elements are combined in the word repent.

Repent is how we are forgiven our sins and are conveyed into His kingdom, in which we are sanctified and set apart for Him, as His own people.

JLB

Repent is how we are forgiven our sins
only part i disagree with justification then sanctified declared righteous/ not guilty just as if we have never sinned. then sanctified made holy w become a W.I.P repentance follows and is a continual thing .. its probably more of a wording thing you enphase on obey and its there . where most just use romans 10:9-10 along with the whosoever ( which is those who are truly saved } i don't buy this hold my hand repeat this prayer your saved

to lost person they could say what is submit?

I repent Lord Jesus.

Jesus I confess you as my Lord.

Lord Jesus save me.

Just a few examples.

For “whoever calls on the name of the Lord shall be saved.”
Romans 10:13

Here is one from the Bible.

Then he said to Jesus, “Lord, remember me when You come into Your kingdom.”
And Jesus said to him, “Assuredly, I say to you, today you will be with Me in Paradise.” Luke 23:42-42

JLB

} i don't buy this hold my hand repeat this prayer your saved

I don’t either.

Repent is an eternal commitment to obey Jesus Christ as Lord.

If you keep My commandments, you will abide in My love, just as I have kept My Father’s commandments and abide in His love. John 15:10

JLB

only part i disagree with justification then sanctified declared righteous/ not guilty just as if we have never sinned. then sanctified made holy

When we are forgiven our sins, we at that moment are clean,
sanctified, and holy, and are just as if we had never sinned.

Now we have His Spirit, and the ability to walk according to His Spirit, rather than according to the desires of our flesh.

JLB

this is why i believe in a know so salvation . i also believe that those who are truly saved and fall away will return. .i realize lots thinks judas was saved.. personally i don't
