I thought I could introduce a website in which I am currently the only Administrator on. This site is called Biblicalapedia that is attempting to be more or less a wiki encyclopedia on biblical-history. There is a lot to explain on it, and well I was hoping if any of you were interested post your comments below asking general questions about the site in which I can explain. I will also soon get some links that can be read that explain a bit more. Thanks

Moved this over to the Business Discussions and Plugs forum as I feel it fits better there.

By the way, I find the purpose of this site amazing and would like to see how it is progressing.

Do you have a staff of people working on articles?

Well it not a legal entity of any type right now. In the future someday I hope to create a nonprofit to accommodate that and another site site I am trying to launch (that is if this is what God wants me to do, if not then well God will lead me where he would like). This site is a wiki, so edits and articles come from the community at large. As of now I am the only Administrator, but I am looking for another one, as well (as always of course) looking for users to edit. There is also some issues with the site such as the point of view and scriptural alignment I am a bit unsure on how to handle (this is why on Monday I am having a meeting with a church pastor to discuss this and perhaps getting it linked on the congregation website). I encourage you to edit articles if you would like. We do have some guidelines for editing (those should go under a re-write after I discuss with pastor), and our hosting company has a video series that can you teach you the basics of editing. If you have more questions please let me know.

Sounds like you have definitely laid some ground work, but obviously have some other hurdles to overcome. Out of curiosity what is the url for the site, so those of us who are interested can go check it out?

I do not know why I should've linked it before! My apologies. For those who are interested the link for Biblicalapedia, is http://bible.wikia.com. So make sure to read the guidelines I have linked above before editing and if you have more questions please feel free to ask me.

Oh, wow. I just took a look at the landing page and I have some suggestions.

First, you many want to rethink the look and feel of the site, as at first glance it is rather confusing and disjointed. How much control do you have over the layout and format of the site?

Second, when you scroll down there is one article that is repeated over and over again (the one about Bible Maps Project).

Third, using a black background for some sites may work, but when you use it with white text it can be a bit distracting.

Lastly, have you thought about monetizing the site? You could generate some much needed capital to offset the costs of the overhead of the site.

The layout and format is pretty limited since this is more about hosting. I am completely aware of that repeating blog and I/the Staff of the hosting company are aware and have tried several times to fix it (I might need to try different ways, but a new editing system was rolled out and it was pretty buggy, last week the hosting company made several fixes). The site is hosted for free and the company that host it is a for-profit (we cannot add advertisements or remove theirs according to the terms of use). The Bible Maps project may require some hosting but there are several methods to host it for free.

If you would like sometime next week I can chat to you about the site if you would like.

So you are stuck using a specific website builder? There are other free hosts where you can upload your own website builder onto their servers.

If the content management system they are using is this cumbersome to use, you may want to consider switching now, as things will just get worse as the site grows.

Actually it works very well. This hoster hosts specifically for wikis and it works very well. The new editing system happened to have bugs but it still works pretty well. I think you are confused about a lot of things. How about tomorrow, Saturday or next week we can chat about the site and I can explain some of these things.

Okay can I have your time zone (and I can punch it in my time zone scheduling software) and times you are available and I will edit this post to give you a time that works for both of us? Also do you have moderation tools where you can see my email contact and email me a skype id and/or Google Talk or IRC. For privacy reasons I will only be able to do IM and no phone and/or video chat.

Pacific. I will PM you in the morning on Saturday to let you know when I should be available. The only thing I know we have planned that day is to go over to the next town and go to Costco, otherwise the day is pretty free.

I should not be the only one.
I find it very hard to read anything not on white back ground. Ive seen some with black, blue. red, yellow back grounds all are hard to read.
