Hello everyone. Keeping with the Holy spirits direction to "read to the people" i have started a series of 30 minute segments of me reading the first book of Enoch. There are a couple of hiccups in the reading, but all in all it is OK. Here is the Link. Let me know what you think. There will be several more coming as time allows me to read. I estimate 6 or so more 30 minutes segments. This reading is Chapter 1 - 15. Link to the reading God Bless you all! ( by the way I am doing this as a resource for those who like to study)

Just because the book of Enoch was not accepted into the cannon it doesn't mean it has no relevance for us to learn from. Our Bible says very little about Him, but does say this:

Hebrews 11:5 By faith Enoch was translated that he should not see death; and was not found, because God had translated him: for before his translation he had this testimony, that he pleased God. 6 But without faith it is impossible to please him: for he that cometh to God must believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him.

Genesis 5:21-32
Enoch was 65 when his son Methuselah was born and lived to be 365 years.

Methuselah was 187 when he had Lamech. This would make Enoch 252

Lamech was 182 when he had Noah. This would make Enoch 317 so Noah would have known his Great Grandfather and spent time with him.

I have the book of Enoch online, but never took the time to read it. Will take a listen.

The book is interesting in that it teaches and speaks to commonly held myths. Theologically speaking it's a disaster. But then in it's opening paragraph it describes how it isn't scripture. Most people don't understand what constitutes Old Testament scripture and the 100 various tests the prophets had to pass for their writings to become scripture. Enoch deliberately fails these tests.

But Jesus/God (I really love that phrase) decided to quote a few sentences from the book. Not that He decided that the book was scripture but that the quotes were handy for the point He was making.

Reading the book of Enoch requires discernment and for those not fully grounded in sturdy theological doctrine should not read this book.

When reading any outside texts, we always need to make sure that we keep the Bible as our Canon, which is a fancy way to say that we measure all readings through the lens of the Bible.

For anyone who has really dug in and studied the 613 laws of the Sinai covenant, you will realize that the laws are not as black and white as they seem when one tries to live them out. Does one circumcise on the Sabbath? What about Passover if it falls on the Sabbath? There are many examples, but the most prominent that Christians may know of would be when King David and his men ate the bread, that, according to the letter of the law was meant for the priest. However, discernment of the law allowed David and his men to eat and nobody sinned for eating that which was only authorized for the priest. (see Leviticus 23).

Which brings me to this. Just because we find reference to the book of Enoch within the writings of the New Testament, does not put the book of Enoch on par with the whole of scriptures. Let me explain.

In three places, Paul quotes truth from Pagan sources as recorded in the Bible. Because we find truth from Pagan sources within our Canon, does Paul quoting those truths authorize and ordain the entire document which Paul quotes as truth? Certainly not.

Here is a better example. In reference to our English word Hell, Jesus references it's Jewish word which has deep roots within the Old Testament. However, he also references what the Greeks know as Hades.

A little history on Hades. It is rich in Greek Mythology and each city had it's Patron God. At the top of the pantheon was Zeus whom we all should know about. As Greek mythology goes, Zeus had a brother named Hades who ruled the underworld (The Grave). This underworld was also named Hades. It was believed that everyone went to Hades when they died. In the deepest darkest depths of Hades was Tartarus.

Tartarus was for the most vile of men and was a place of severe torment. Only the most evil of men were sent to Tartarus.

Ironically, the Apostle Paul mentions Tartarus as well.

Here is my point.
Paul quotes pagan sources as truth.
Peter uses pagan sources as truth.
Jesus uses pagan sources as truth.

Are we now to accept all of Greek Mythology as truth just because we have it's use within Holy scripture?

No.

In this same way, portions of the book of Enoch are quoted in Scripture, but this no more authorizes it's unbridled use as Homer's Odyssey would be authorized.

All I'm saying is this. When you read the book of Enoch and it's discussed, use discernment. Angels don't breed with humans... that's a heresy that even the Jews reject and will not be promoted on this site. The topic can be discussed on our site (which I would encourage), but not promoted.

I finally went and read the book of Enoch today and wrote a nutshell of each chapter. As I read the book of Enoch I see Genesis through Revelation written even before the flood of Noah's day. It's not in great detail to what we read in the Bible, but yet it is what Enoch experienced as he was caught up in the whirlwind and translated to all these places and told all of this to his family for them to keep their integrity and to stay in God's righteousness.

Chapter 1-11 Enoch speaks of the order of days, time, latter days and end of days when all things of the earth will perish as God's judgment consumes the wicked. Enoch is shown heaven, the throne of Christ when He comes in all His glory to sit upon His throne to judge the nations. Impiety of fallen angels and the flood that will come upon the earth.

Chapter 12-16 Enoch was concealed as no one knew where he was taken to, but he was in this day caught up to in the whirlwind being engaged with the holy ones and the Watchers (angels). The Watchers called Enoch a scribe as the Lord said he was a scribe of righteousness and then sent him out to reprove the angels who corrupted themselves.

Chapter 17-19 Enoch is taken to the place of the abyss where these angels who left their first estate were now bound for judgment.

Chapter 20- 21 Enoch is given the names of the true Watchers and what they do. He is then taken to another terrific place of suffering which is the abyss/prison of the fallen angels.

Chapter 22-23 Enoch is taken to another place that is delightful where the spirits, the souls of the dead will be collected unto the day of judgment. Enoch inquired of the general judgment and why one is separated from the other as he learned one was for sinners and the other for the righteous. Then he was taken to another place towards the westand sees a blazing fire burning which is the course of the sun that never changes.

Chapter 24 Enoch is taken to another place which is the kingdom of God and the reward for the righteous.

Chapter 25-26 Enoch sees a blessed land. lofty trees and the accursed valley between them. He ask the angel with him what it all meant and the angel told him the valley is the accursed of the accursed for ever being those who speak evil of the Lord.

Chapter 27-35 Enoch was transformed to many beautiful places God wanted to show him. I blessed the Lord of glory, who had made those great and splendid signs, that they might display the magnificence of his works to angels and to the souls of men; and that these might glorify all his works and operations; might see the effect of his power; might glorify the great labour of his hands; and bless him for ever.

Chapter 37 starts a second vision of wisdom. The seven spirts of God are the Spirit of the Lord, wisdom, understanding, counsel, power, knowledge and fear of the Lord.

Chapter 38 is given three parables.

Chapter 39-44 Enoch speaks of his translation placing him at the extremity of the heavens, (plural) as he is given another vision of the holy and elect of God and where they will be and what happens to the unjust.

Chapter 45-50 is the second parable about those who deny the habitation of the holy ones, and of the Lord of spirits. He also writes of the Ancient of Days and judgment.

Chapter 51-55 Enoch is once again caught up in a whirlwind carried off westwards and shown the secrets of heaven by the angel that went with him. This is also the end of the second parable he was given.

Chapter 56-63 begins the third parable concerning the saints and the elect.

Chapter 64-69 Enoch introduces us to Noah being the great grandson of Enoch as he at an early age senses the evil that is in the world and asked his great grandfather Enoch about the destruction of the world. The word of God comes to Noah to assure him he is beloved and upright in the eyes of the Lord and that God will establish his seed for ever and ever. Noah began to grow in knowledge and wisdom of the secret things that Enoch wrote in his book. Noah was given the names of the fallen angels and the judgments against them.

Chapter 70 Noah was in the spirit and was shown the holy angels of God and every secret of mercy and secret of righteousness. Noah was shown the hidden things of the extremities of heaven and kept secret the hidden things of the spirit of Enoch. The Ancient of Days came to Noah and spoke through the angel saying, Thou art the offspring of man, who art born for righteousness, and righteousness has rested on thee. The righteousness of the Ancient of days shall not forsake thee.

Chapter 71-78 Noah is shown an effective way of tracking the counting of days and seasons through the law of God set forth in creation. Noah explains this to Enoch's son Mathusala and then goes on to explain how the days of sinners the years shall be shortened and punishment will come upon all of the sinners as they will be destroyed.

Chapter 80-83 Enoch was given all to write as now his great grandson Noah has been instructed to read it all and explain all that was written in the book to Enoch's son Mathusala, but first Noah was told to rest for a year after he was brought back to his home.

Chapter 84-88 Enoch has a visionary dream before he married Edna and explained it to his son. In his dream he sees a white cow come forth from the earth. He sees two more heifers as one was black and the other one red. He then goes into greater detail of the visions he saw.

Chapter 90-104 Enoch tells his son Mathusala to call his brethren to him and all the children of his mother as a voice calls Enoch and the spirit is poured out on him as he shows them everything which will happen to them for ever. Enoch begins by telling them to be attached to integrity and walk in it as he proceeds to give Godly instruction to all of them.

Chapter 105 ends the vision of Enoch the prophet with the last one being that of Noah and the flood to come upon the earth.

All I'm saying is this. When you read the book of Enoch and it's discussed, use discernment. Angels don't breed with humans... that's a heresy that even the Jews reject and will not be promoted on this site.

That was one part I didn't agree with either as we have discussed this in the forums a few times. The book is hard to understand in parts and it does take discernment to understand some of his visions. Plus some of the chapters are missing. At least where I was reading it online.

Very. Good summary!

I have read it some years ago.
I did go to chapter 7 with you until interrupted by the telephone.

I think it is very interesting!
Goes along with Gen.6 and Jude and other places.
Even though what I believe about the fallen angels, raises a few eyebrows, and some shun me, I really don't care. It is what it is.

Regardless of the book of Enoch, in Gen.6:1-4 reads,
And it came to pass, when men began to multiply on the face of the earth, and daughters were born unto them,
That the sons of God (fallen angels) saw the daughters of men that they were fair, and they took them wives of all which they chose.
...
There were GIANTS in the earth in those days, AND ALSO AFTER THAT, when the sons of God came in unto the daughters of men, they bare children to them, the same became mighty men WHICH WERE OF OLD, MEN OF RENOWN..

Bare children to them. Huh...

Jude 4
For there are certain men crept in unawares, who were BEFORE OF OLD ordained to this condemnation...
Jude 6
And the angels which kept not their first estate, but left their own habitation.....
Jude 13-15
Wandering stars, to whom is reserved the blackness of darkness 4ever.
Enoch also, prophesied of these, saying, behold the Lord cometh with 10 thousands of His saints, to execute judgment upon all.

The GIANTS are called Nephilim, which means fallen ones, from naphal to fall.
This is why the flood was brought upon the ungodly.
But we read of the nephilim again in Num.13:33, there we saw the nephilim, the sons of Anak..
As confirmed in Gen.6:4
There were nephilim in the earth in those days, and also AFTER THAT...
Just like Goliath..
There was another irruption.

These were to be cut off, and driven out, and utterly destroyed, Deut.20:17, Josh.3:10,
But Israel failed in this, Josh.13:13, 15:63, 16:10
Judge.1:19-36

Through these mighty men the explanation of the origin of the Greek mythology. The mythology was no mere invention of the human brain, but it grew out of the traditions, and memories, and legends of the doings of that mighty race of beings.
The fact that there were supernatural in their origin formed to their being demi-gods of the Greeks.

Thus the Babylonian, "creation tablets", the Egyptians "book of the dead" and heathen Cosmogonies, are all the corruption and perversion of primitive truths, distorted in proportion as their origin was forgotten, and their memories faded away.

Only Noah and his family had preserved their pedigree pure from Adam, all the rest had become corrupt.
This irruption of fallen angels was Satan's first attempt to prevent the coming of the Seed of the woman foretold in Gen.3:15.
He attempted many times...

Future irruption,
Matt.24:37-39
But as the days of Noah were, so shall also the coming of the Son be.
For as in the days that were before the flood they were eating and drinking, MARRYING and GIVING IN MARRIAGE, until the day Noah entered into the ark.
And knew not until the flood came , and took them away.....
Just like the next flood...
Re.12:9
Satan and his angels was cast out into the earth..
Rev.12:15-17
And the serpent cast out of his mouth water as a flood, a flood of lies, after the woman...
And the Dragon was wroth with the woman, and went to make war with the remnant of her seed which keep the commandments of God, and have the testimony of Jesus Christ.

Given that no biblical expert accepts the book of enoch as anything but a late fake why are you wasting your time reading it?
It raises the question are you aware of the Spirits leading?

God is truth and has nothing to do with fakes like the book of enoch.

I read it to gain understanding of common myths of the time period that the New Testament happened.

It's good for that.

Enoch is a hard to read in spots and also teachable in other parts. I see no great importance to being part of the Canon, but does give prophecy of coming Messiah.

I'm starting to read through the other books that were left out of the Canon. I've read Enoch and today I read the book of Tobit and why this book was left out I don't know. It's a great teaching about giving alms to the Lord and His blessings being pour out. They should make a movie of this book.

Reading the book of Enoch requires discernment and for those not fully grounded in sturdy theological doctrine should not read this book.
Agreed. Enoch is considered a pseudepigraphical book, meaning that someone other than the actual biblical Enoch took his name and wrote that book. Whether Jude quoted from this book or by divine inspiration regarding what Enoch said would be hard to distinguish, since the quotation is an exact match. What is true is that Enoch, the seventh from Adam, prophesied about the Second Coming of Christ. That is amazing.

JUDE 1:14,15
And Enoch also, the seventh from Adam, prophesied of these, saying, Behold, the Lord cometh with ten thousands of his saints, To execute judgment upon all, and to convince all that are ungodly among them of all their ungodly deeds which they have ungodly committed, and of all their hard speeches which ungodly sinners have spoken against him.

ENOCH 2:1
And behold! He cometh with ten thousands of His holy ones To execute judgment upon all, And to destroy all the ungodly: And to convict all flesh of all the works of their ungodliness which they have ungodly committed, And of all the hard things which ungodly sinners have spoken against Him. If you are interested in 2nd centuary myths yes, not good for 1st centuary facts or myths.

A great idea for the prosperity gospel, that alone makes it worth not reading.

The Book was written around 100 BCE...
And was extremely popular during Jesus ministry. That's why the Essenes made a copy in copper plate. Because it would sell for a fortune. Copying and selling books was one of their main occupations.

Apparently you never read the book of Tobit so you can not judge it. It's about faith, trust and giving alms to God.

Yes it would be kinda hard to explain how the sons of God continued to reproduce Nephilim giants after the flood if they weren’t angels, since all flesh was destroyed in the flood.

There were giants on the earth in those days, and also afterward, when the sons of God came in to the daughters of men and they bore children to them. Those were the mighty men who were of old, men of renown. Genesis 6:4

The New Testament writers (Jews) also taught this as well.

It's man that adds to Genesis 6:2 saying the sons of God are fallen angels as they misinterpret sons of God. Hebrews 1:5 says God never called any angel His son. Jesus is the only begotten Son of the Father.

Hebrews 1:5 For unto which of the angels said he at any time, Thou art my Son, this day have I begotten thee? And again, I will be to him a Father, and he shall be to me a Son?

If you break down Genesis 6:1-8 You can see that those sons of God were not angels as angels are spirit and can not procreate nor are given in marriage, Matthew 22:30; Mark 12:25. 1Corinthians 15:39, 40 states that men are men, animals are animals, fish are fish and angels are angels. There is no scripture which would even remotely lead us to believe angels had sex with women or that Giants were born of them.

It was men who began to multiply on earth, Godly and ungodly men (not angels) and daughters were born unto them. The sons of God, Godly line of Seth, took them wives of the daughters of the ungodly line of Cain and choose wives from them. These daughters were more likely ungodly women being from the line of Cain and not of Seth. This is why God said my spirit shall not always strive with man, for that he also is flesh.

Genesis 6:4 speaks of giants being in the land, but never mentions that they took them wives of the daughters of men, buy says that when the sons of God (Godly line of Seth) came unto the daughters of men (Cain’s ungodly line) they bare children to them. These same children (from the line of Cain) became mighty men (giants) which were of old (before the flood) and men of renown in the sense that they were the ungodly princes, the conquerors, the heroes of those days and also after the flood being born from the line of Ham through his son Canaan, Genesis 9:20-27.

They were called giants in the sense that they were very tall men in stature such as Og in Joshua 12:4 Goliath was a Philistine of great stature (giant) being a descendant of the Anakim, 2 Samuel 21:15-22 Numbers 13:3-33 the spies were sent out and came back with a report which included them seeing the sons of Anak who were Sheshai, Ahiman, and Talmai which come from giants as the spies looked like grasshoppers compared to the size of these men. Anakim are a race of giants descended from Anak. They dwelt in the south of the land of Canaan, near Hebron, Josh. 15:13. According to Genesis 14:5-6 the Rephaims who were giants in whom Og, the King of Bashan, was one of the last survivors of the Rephaim inhabited the region afterwards known as Edom and Moab in the days of Abraham.

First off, there is no flesh womb in heaven. Of course, no marriage or procreate.
Angels have some form of body, as the 2 angels that went into Lot.
The people of Sodom and Gom., Wanted to have sex with them.
The people of Moses ate manna, angels food.
Jesus ate with some of His disciples, after the resurrection.
The Holy Spirit impregnated Mary.
A whole lot of angels protected Elijah, which had to open his servant's spiritual eyes.

Second,
In Job 1:6, Job 2:1
Now there was a day when the SONS OF GOD came to present themselves before the LORD, and Satan came also among them.

Also, Job 38:7
Speaking of the foundations of the world,
When the morning stars sang together, and ALL THE SONS OF GOD shouted for joy...

Who do you think these are?

God created the angels, they are His..
All souls belong to God. Ezek.18:4

Third,
Look up Giant, in the Strong's, # 5303, Hebrew, naphal, from # 5307 , meaning to cast down, fall, lost, throw down...
comes from the word Nephilim, which is giants.

also, I don't think because one is ungodly and the other not, can produce giants.
It would be mutation of the genes.

In Jude 6
And the ANGELS which kept not their first estate, but left their own habitation......
where do you think they went?

I have studied this, and have heard your explanation from others before, thus, has not given me any information that has changed my mind, thus far.

Ps,
Why would God make Israel destroy this line of race, thru war?
Women and children and everything....

That would explain it. Interestingly enough, the areas that they failed to exterminate them all, are the same areas that are still under dispute today in Israel.

Not just "some form of body" but a male human body, appearing to men as men, but also choosing to appear as angels, when directed by God. Angels are not sexless, but since they are all males, there can be no marriages of angels in Heaven. And when the saints are in their glorified bodies, the same principle will apply.
