Why do you believe it to be fiction? Nothing in the Bible says that the story is fiction. And the story is not that unbelievable. Especially compared to other things in the Bible.. I believe this book to be absolutely and completely a real historical event. From the book of Job witch is the oldest book in the Bible (I am told)

There's nothing fictional in the Bible!

Who knows. You might be right. It's not worth getting upset about it. Your view, my view....God doesn't want us to take anything personally.
Sorry if I seem upset. I'm not really upsett. It's more that I am eager to learn and share the real truth of it all.
And just happy to have other believers to talk with.
Please don't feel offended my brother :)

If anything.. I think the story of Noah seems more fictional I my opinion. But I believe that story also to be true.
But I want to add this in my humble opinion: that many of the stories of the Bible might have more than one meaning.
Like it's a real historical event, but at the same time have a message in it. Like you said. It might have more than one layer to it.

Currently I am inclined to think much of what is described in Exodus is fiction. The plagues for instance and the parting of the Red Sea. It doesn't bother me. Spiritual truths are more precious than historical facts. I like symbolism .

Definitely! Real historical event or a parable told to teach us something.
Like Jesus did very often. The important thing is what we can learn from it, and how it can help us.
I believe that the Bible is given to us as to help us with the life you and me are living right now.
I have read the book of Job as one first books I read in the Bible actually. And I do think that many people can relate to Job. And his hardship.
Many scholars believe that it's historical and everything happened over only about 7 month period.
It's good and most importantly that we can agree that there is a message here. And something that we can learn.:)

Job? Job?

What's all this I hear 'bout gutting a job? I'm retired, thank-you.
