BORN AGAIN TO THE HOLY SPIRIT

1 Cor 15:1-3
1 Moreover, brethren, I declare to you the gospel which I preached to you, which also you received and in which you stand,
2 by which also you are saved, if you hold fast that word which I preached to you-- unless you believed in vain.
3 For I delivered to you first of all that which I also received: that Christ died for our sins according to the Scriptures,
Rom 6:8-10
8 Now if we died with Christ, we believe that we shall also live with Him,
9 knowing that Christ, having been raised from the dead, dies no more. Death no longer has dominion over Him.
10 For the death that He died, He died to sin once for all; but the life that He lives, He lives to God.
2 Cor 10:3-5
3 For though we walk in the flesh, we do not war according to the flesh.
4 For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal but mighty in God for pulling down strongholds,
5 casting down arguments and every high thing that exalts itself against the knowledge of God, bringing every thought into captivity to the obedience of Christ,
Heb 5:12-14
12 For though by this time you ought to be teachers, you need someone to teach you again the first principles of the oracles of God; and you have come to need milk and not solid food.
13 For everyone who partakes only of milk is unskilled in the word of righteousness, for he is a babe.
14 But solid food belongs to those who are of full age, that is, those who by reason of use have their senses exercised to discern both good and evil.
Heb 5:8-9
8 though He was a Son, yet He learned obedience by the things which He suffered.
9 And having been perfected, He became the author of eternal salvation to all who obey Him,
John 16:21-22
21 "A woman, when she is in labor, has sorrow because her hour has come; but as soon as she has given birth to the child, she no longer remembers the anguish, for joy that a human being has been born into the world.
22 "Therefore you now have sorrow; but I will see you again and your heart will rejoice, and your joy no one will take from you.
Matt 8:11-12
11 "And I say to you that many will come from east and west, and sit down with Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob in the kingdom of heaven.
12 "But the sons of the kingdom will be cast out into outer darkness. There will be weeping and gnashing of teeth."
James 1:22-25
22 But be doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving yourselves.
23 For if anyone is a hearer of the word and not a doer, he is like a man observing his natural face in a mirror;
24 for he observes himself, goes away, and immediately forgets what kind of man he was.
25 But he who looks into the perfect law of liberty and continues in it, and is not a forgetful hearer but a doer of the work, this one will be blessed in what he does.
II Jn 1:9-11
9 Whoever transgresses and does not abide in the doctrine of Christ does not have God. He who abides in the doctrine of Christ has both the Father and the Son.
10 If anyone comes to you and does not bring this doctrine, do not receive him into your house nor greet him;
11 for he who greets him shares in his evil deeds.
John 15:5-7
5 "I am the vine, you are the branches. He who abides in Me, and I in him, bears much fruit; for without Me you can do nothing.
6 "If anyone does not abide in Me, he is cast out as a branch and is withered; and they gather them and throw them into the fire, and they are burned.
7 "If you abide in Me, and My words abide in you, you will ask what you desire, and it shall be done for you.
I Jn 2:6
6 He who says he abides in Him ought himself also to walk just as He walked.
John 8:29
29 "And He who sent Me is with Me. The Father has not left Me alone, for I always do those things that please Him."
John 7:38-39
38 "He who believes in Me, as the Scripture has said, out of his heart will flow rivers of living water."
39 But this He spoke concerning the Spirit, whom those believing in Him would receive; for the Holy Spirit was not yet given, because Jesus was not yet glorified.
John 8:28
28 Then Jesus said to them, "When you lift up the Son of Man, then you will know that I am He, and that I do nothing of Myself; but as My Father taught Me, I speak these things.
John 16:5
5 "But now I go away to Him who sent Me, and none of you asks Me, 'Where are You going?'
John 16:7
7 "Nevertheless I tell you the truth. It is to your advantage that I go away; for if I do not go away, the Helper will not come to you; but if I depart, I will send Him to you.
John 14:26
26 "But the Helper, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in My name, He will teach you all things, and bring to your remembrance all things that I said to you.
Gal 5:24-25
24 And those who are Christ's have crucified the flesh with its passions and desires.
25 If we live in the Spirit, let us also walk in the Spirit.
2 Cor 10:4-5
4 For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal but mighty in God for pulling down strongholds,
5 casting down arguments and every high thing that exalts itself against the knowledge of God, bringing every thought into captivity to the obedience of Christ,
John 3:3
3 Jesus answered and said to him, "Most assuredly, I say to you, unless one is born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God."
John 3:5-7
5 Jesus answered, "Most assuredly, I say to you, unless one is born of water and the Spirit, he cannot enter the kingdom of God.
6 "That which is born of the flesh is flesh, and that which is born of the Spirit is spirit.
7 "Do not marvel that I said to you, 'You must be born again.'
Matt 12:34
34 "Brood of vipers! How can you, being evil, speak good things? For out of the abundance of the heart the mouth speaks.
Matt 12:36-37
36 "But I say to you that for every idle word men may speak, they will give account of it in the day of judgment.
37 "For by your words you will be justified, and by your words you will be condemned."
John 3:34
34 "For He whom God has sent speaks the words of God, for God does not give the Spirit by measure.
John 3:33
33 "He who has received His testimony has certified that God is true.
Heb 12:24-25
24 to Jesus the Mediator of the new covenant, and to the blood of sprinkling that speaks better things than that of Abel.
25 See that you do not refuse Him who speaks. For if they did not escape who refused Him who spoke on earth, much more shall we not escape if we turn away from Him who speaks from heaven,
Heb 7:22
22 by so much more Jesus has become a surety of a better covenant.
Heb 8:13
13 In that He says, "A new covenant," He has made the first obsolete. Now what is becoming obsolete and growing old is ready to vanish away.
(NKJ)
xxxx Born again means to die first to something. And that something is the carnality. And be born again to something else. And that something else is the Holy Spirit that only quotes new testament verses. Which are the revelations of Jesus Christ. Which I am showing the revelations I received.

John 1:12-13
12 But as many as received Him, to them He gave the right to become children of God, to those who believe in His name:
13 who were born, not of blood, nor of the will of the flesh, nor of the will of man, but of God.
(NKJ)

Squeakybro,

That which is born of the FLESH is FLESH.
That which is born of the SPIRIT is SPIRIT -- John 3:6.

We are still very much FLESH and blood.

IMO, we are not YET born again ------ not till we come up out of the grave as a spirit being, immortal (1 Cor. 15: 42-45).

I understand and respect the fact that people use this term to describe an emotional experience, a spiritual conversion in themselves.

But is that what Jesus was talking about, or was HE talking about literally being BORN again - as a spirit being - who can literally come and go like the invisible wind (John 3: 8).

you said
But is that what Jesus was talking about, or was HE talking about literally being BORN again - as a spirit being - who can literally come and go like the invisible wind (John 3: 8).

I said
Jesus was talking about being born again while we are still here on earth. The Spirit its talking about is the Holy Spirit not your spirit.

"The wind blows where it chooses, and you hear the sound of it, but you do not know where it comes from or where it goes. So it is with everyone who is born of the Spirit" -- John 3:8, New Revised Standard Version.

IMO, we aren't there yet.

You must go through the three years of the milk and the eleven years of the meat just to crucify your emotions and feelings. Then you start receiving the revelations of Jesus Christ that Paul spoke of. Then you are born again.

SB,

Did you miss my post on the "3" and "11" year thing you keep posting about? It's not in this thread...forget where.

Are you talking about this thing?

Disciple
Gal 1:18
18 Then after three years I went up to Jerusalem to see Peter, and remained with him fifteen days.
(NKJ)

Apostle
Gal 2:1

1 Then after fourteen years I went up again to Jerusalem with Barnabas, and also took Titus with me.
(NKJ)

Revelations of Jesus Christ.
Gal 2:2
2 And I went up by revelation, and communicated to them that gospel which I preach among the Gentiles, but privately to those who were of reputation, lest by any means I might run, or had run, in vain.
(NKJ)

SB,

I posted this in Intellectual Idiots, but you must have over looked it:

The 3 and 14 year time periods that Paul mentions are just to put into context his receiving of the revelation of the gospel which he preached. These time periods are by no means a timeline which is to be followed by any other believer. They simply describe Paul's journey after Christ revealed himself to him.

Free that is only your opinion, and your opinion is not scripture. Or dont you know that.
I went through the very same time line. So I do agree with it, not only because I went through it but because it is in the Word of God. Now it is a minnimum time line. There are those that abide in the milk their whole lives. I'm just having trouble trying to find out if your even in the milk yet. You ask alot of questions, but you dont answer any.

Heb 5:13-6:1
13 For everyone who partakes only of milk is unskilled in the word of righteousness, for he is a babe.
14 But solid food belongs to those who are of full age, that is, those who by reason of use have their senses exercised to discern both good and evil.

CHAPTER 6

1 Therefore, leaving the discussion of the elementary principles of Christ, let us go on to perfection, not laying again the foundation of repentance from dead works and of faith toward God,
(NKJ)

SB,

Free that is only your opinion, and your opinion is not scripture.

And your reading of the passages is just your opinion, and your opinion isn't Scripture either. My position is much better supported by the Bible and what Paul is talking about. He is simply giving his account of what happened in his life after he met Christ. There is nothing in there to even remotely suggest that that is how one grows in the Christian walk.

you said

I said
You really dont know do you. Jesus Christ was our example of what we are to go through. Paul was our example of what we are to go through. If you dont use them as examples you make yourself an enemy of Christ.

John 13:15
15 "For I have given you an example, that you should do as I have done to you.
(NKJ)

Phil 3:17-19
17 Brethren, join in following my example, and note those who so walk, as you have us for a pattern.
18 For many walk, of whom I have told you often, and now tell you even weeping, that they are the enemies of the cross of Christ:
19 whose end is destruction, whose god is their belly, and whose glory is in their shame-- who set their mind on earthly things.
(NKJ)

Jesus Christ was our example of what we are to go through.

So, in order for you to be consistent, you must believe that one cannot enter the ministry until the age of 30, and that the ministry must be 3 years in length and end in one being crucified.

John 13:15
15 "For I have given you an example, that you should do as I have done to you.

Exactly. Following someone else's example of what they have done is very different from going through what they went through.

17 Brethren, join in following my example, and note those who so walk, as you have us for a pattern.

Neither of your passages proves anything that you have said. Again,
there is nothing in there to even remotely suggest that one must follow Paul's pattern of growth.

Paul was our example of what we are to go through.

You've dug yourself into a hole since you already stated that Jesus was our example of what we are to go though. Both Paul's and Jesus' timelines are very different. Which is it? Paul or Jesus?

Free does everything you post raise doubt about christianity?
you said
"The problem with Christianity is not that is has been tried and found wanting, but that it has been found difficult and left untried."

I dont know of anything you have posted that supports christianity. You said you were a muslim.

SB,

Why not just address the points I made.

I dont know of anything you have posted that supports christianity.

Just because you disagree with what I post doesn't mean that it doesn't support Christianity.

You said you were a muslim.

You first stated that you thought I was a Muslim and my reply was meant as sarcasm. I most certainly am not a Muslim. I am a Christian that defends orthodox Christianity, not a Muslim that defends orthodox Christianity.

Keep this thread on topic. I am not going to argue with you about this anymore.

Born again

In reply Jesus declared, “I tell you the truth, no one can see the kingdom of God unless he is born again.†JOHN 3:3

The concept is of God renovating the heart, the core of a person’s being, by implanting a new principle of desire, purpose, and action, a dispositional dynamic that finds expression in positive response to the gospel and its Christ.

Jesus’ phrase “born of water and the Spirit†(John 3:5) harks back to Ezekiel 36:25-27, where God is pictured as symbolically cleansing persons from sin’s pollution (by water) and bestowing a “new heart†by putting his Spirit within them.

Because this is so explicit, Jesus chides Nicodemus, “Israel’s teacher,†for not understanding how new birth happens (John 3:9-10). Jesus’ point throughout is that there is no exercise of faith in himself as the supernatural Savior, no repentance, and no true discipleship apart from this new birth.

The Thread is BORN AGAIN, Right??

Back on Topic! (I posted this on another site as Pastor N.B.=Elijah)
----------

I want to place this reply here below by me to a personal 'in box' message. I will not disclose the question's personal remarks or the name of the writter. But when I take the Lord's time, I think that as we are living in the New Testament times, we will make use of the Holy Spirits OMNIPRESENT workings, and Hosea 4:6 increased knowledge too, huh??

Hi,
The Holy Spirit was VERY ACTICE from day one of Gen. 1 on!! The Purpose of the Holy Spirit [IS] to uplift Christ. Christ was ONLY present in the Old Testament while He was in Israel's presense. Cloud by day & pillar of fire by night. After Christ's death & return & acceptance by the GodHead, (remember-touch me not?) He SENT THE HOLY SPIRIT to make HIM everywhere present! He, the Holy Spirit, DID NOT TESTIFY [of] Himself.

[*STILL IT WAS ALWAYS TO BE CHRIST PUT INTO ONES HEART THAT WAS TO BE DONE BY THE HOLY SPIRIT!] What purpose do you see in the Holy Spirits STRIVING UPON MAN to accept CHRIST in Gen. 6:3 if MAN CANNOT YIELD AND LET ***CHRIST IN??? See Rom. 8:1 & the SAVED ones again from these O.T. Born Again ones by faith of Heb. 11:13!! And LED by CHRIST (which is EQUAL too & in UNITY with the Holy Spirit) in the Cloud & piller of Fire, COMPARE Rom. 8:14.

How was poor Nicodemus, and ALL OTHERS from Christ's past fold to be Born Again if it was not possible to be so??? Christ stated "THAT YE MUST BE BORN AGAIN"!!! All would have been DOOMED from Christ back, if that was not a possibility!! No, it could be done, and it was done, just in a more local way is all. Being Born Again RECREATES CHRIST INTO THE HEART! 2 Cor. 3:3 The O.T. is FULL of such ones as this! King David was only one such person. Yet, his writings are full of such love for Christ & His Law!

So in the N.T. Christ is EVERYWHERE able to save at the same time. In the O.T. individuls were saved by being in the PRESENCE of Christ only. The END result was wanting for CHRIST to be placed INTO THE HEART BY THE HOLY SPIRIT? (or the Holy Ghost) Question mark is for you to answer, who is the greater????? CHRIST OR THE HOLY SPIRIT? Answer is folly! THEY ARE [GOD] as well as, who we CALL FATHER! {GODHEAD!]

So, the BOTTOM LINE as has been stated, is that as David for one was CONVERTED AND HAD THE LAW OF GOD WRITTEN IN HIS HEART, one on one, so were ALL of the saved in O.T. (Heb. 11:13) And in the N.T. time God could now do this work omnipresent by the Holy Spirit. Remember again that this work was to UPLIFT WHO? CHRIST & not Himself!!

Ask yourself: Did more miracles get done after Christs departure than during His stay on earth, even in the O.T. church? OK: Now ask yourself if ANY OF THESE MIRACLES were more POWERFUL than those that Christ Himself did? The BLIND SEE! The Leper CURED? The LAME WALK? THE DEAD RAISED TO LIFE? (the Conversion of me, if you ONLY knew!)

No. The Holy Spirit in Christ (AS CHRIST) was only a little bit hampered because of mans sin until Christ bought back Adams boundary line. (earth) See Christ's Words of Matt. 4:9-10!! This WAS TRUE, until Christ defeated satan at the cross!

----Pastor N.B. (slightly edited)

Everyone is born sinners. To be born again one has to die to what they were born to and live to another. One is born with the enfluences of feelings and emotions and thoughts(carnal). To be born again one has to crucify their flesh(feelings and emotions). Purge every thought that is contrary to the new testament.

Gal 5:24-25
24 And those who are Christ's have crucified the flesh with its passions and desires.
25 If we live in the Spirit, let us also walk in the Spirit.
(NKJ)

2 Cor 10:4-5
4 For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal but mighty in God for pulling down strongholds,
5 casting down arguments and every high thing that exalts itself against the knowledge of God, bringing every thought into captivity to the obedience of Christ,

Hi, Elijah here:
That is Truth! Then one comes to the 4th. Coimmandment, the Lord's Sabbath Commandments. Then just watch... most who would say a AMEN to your post, now come out of the 'woodwork' looking for flaws!, huh???

SABBATH
Deut 5:12-14 OLD TESTAMENT
12 'Observe the Sabbath day, to keep it holy, as the LORD your God commanded you.
13 Six days you shall labor and do all your work,
14 but the seventh day is the Sabbath of the LORD your God. In it you shall not do any work: you, nor your son, nor your daughter, nor your manservant, nor your maidservant, nor your ox, nor your donkey, nor any of your cattle, nor your stranger who is within your gates, that your manservant and your maidservant may rest as well as you.
Exod 31:13
13 "Speak also to the children of Israel, saying: 'Surely My Sabbaths you shall keep, for it is a sign between Me and you throughout your generations, that you may know that I am the LORD who sanctifies you.

NEW TESTAMENT
Mark 2:27-28
27 And He said to them, "The Sabbath was made for man, and not man for the Sabbath.
28 "Therefore the Son of Man is also Lord of the Sabbath."
Heb 8:13
13 In that He says, "A new covenant," He has made the first obsolete. Now what is becoming obsolete and growing old is ready to vanish away.
Rom 14:5-6
5 One person esteems one day above another; another esteems every day alike. Let each be fully convinced in his own mind.
6 He who observes the day, observes it to the Lord; and he who does not observe the day, to the Lord he does not observe it. He who eats, eats to the Lord, for he gives God thanks; and he who does not eat, to the Lord he does not eat, and gives God thanks.
Heb 10:25
25 not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together, as is the manner of some, but exhorting one another, and so much the more as you see the Day approaching.
1 Cor 14:12
12 Even so you, since you are zealous for spiritual gifts, let it be for the edification of the church that you seek to excel.
Matt 16:16
16 Simon Peter answered and said, "You are the Christ, the Son of the living God."
Matt 16:18
18 "And I also say to you that you are Peter, and on this rock I will build My church, and the gates of Hades shall not prevail against it.
Col 2:16-17
16 So let no one judge you in food or in drink, or regarding a festival or a new moon or sabbaths,
17 which are a shadow of things to come, but the substance is of Christ.
Luke 9:23
23 Then He said to them all, "If anyone desires to come after Me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross daily, and follow Me.
Luke 14:1-6
1 Now it happened, as He went into the house of one of the rulers of the Pharisees to eat bread on the Sabbath, that they watched Him closely.
2 And behold, there was a certain man before Him who had dropsy.
3 And Jesus, answering, spoke to the lawyers and Pharisees, saying, "Is it lawful to heal on the Sabbath?"
4 But they kept silent. And He took him and healed him, and let him go.
5 Then He answered them, saying, "Which of you, having a donkey or an ox that has fallen into a pit, will not immediately pull him out on the Sabbath day?"
6 And they could not answer Him regarding these things.
John 2:12-17
12 After this He went down to Capernaum, He, His mother, His brothers, and His disciples; and they did not stay there many days.
13 Now the Passover of the Jews was at hand, and Jesus went up to Jerusalem.
14 And He found in the temple those who sold oxen and sheep and doves, and the moneychangers doing business.
15 When He had made a whip of cords, He drove them all out of the temple, with the sheep and the oxen, and poured out the changers' money and overturned the tables.
16 And He said to those who sold doves, "Take these things away! Do not make My Father's house a house of merchandise!"
17 Then His disciples remembered that it was written, "Zeal for Your house has eaten Me up."
John 2:23
23 Now when He was in Jerusalem at the Passover, during the feast, many believed in His name when they saw the signs which He did.
John 3:2
2 This man came to Jesus by night and said to Him, "Rabbi, we know that You are a teacher come from God; for no one can do these signs that You do unless God is with him."
Luke 6:5
5 And He said to them, "The Son of Man is also Lord of the Sabbath."
Rom 14:4-10
4 Who are you to judge another's servant? To his own master he stands or falls. Indeed, he will be made to stand, for God is able to make him stand.
7 For none of us lives to himself, and no one dies to himself.
8 For if we live, we live to the Lord; and if we die, we die to the Lord. Therefore, whether we live or die, we are the Lord's.
9 For to this end Christ died and rose and lived again, that He might be Lord of both the dead and the living.
10 But why do you judge your brother? Or why do you show contempt for your brother? For we shall all stand before the judgment seat of Christ.
Acts 17:24-25
24 "God, who made the world and everything in it, since He is Lord of heaven and earth, does not dwell in temples made with hands.
25 "Nor is He worshiped with men's hands, as though He needed anything, since He gives to all life, breath, and all things.
(NKJ)
xxThe Sabbath is one of the ten commandments that doesnt show up in the new testament as a command.
