I'm really starting to think that it does. Cause whenever I start watching a stressful TV show like Dr. Phil, Steve Wilkos, or anything of the sort online I start thinking about really stressful situations that I have faced that might even be related to whatever is going on and my heart and mind start racing and my blood and anxiety levels start climbing. However once I'm finished watching it I become completely calm again and I forget what was stressing me out so much. Does anybody have a scientific explanation for this?

My explanation aren't always scientific so to speak, but it is possible for tv shows to evoke certain responses - stress, anxiety, fear, joy, etc. If the show ends, the triggered emotion probably ends because of closure and whatever is causing stress or anxiety has stopped.
