KJ Dictionary Definition: CHRIST, n. THE ANOINTED; an appellation given to the Savior of the World, and synonymous with the Hebrew Messiah. It was a custom of antiquity to consecrate persons to Priests and Kings into office by anointing them with oil

John 7:
38 He that believeth on me, as the scripture hath said, out of his belly shall flow rivers of living water

39 (But this spake he of the Spirit, which they that believe on him should receive: for the Holy Spirit was not yet given; because that Jesus was not yet glorified)
(NOTE: Jesus foretells of the giving/out pouring/seal of the Holy Spirit to be given to believers)

Christ is ANOINTED with the Holy Spirit

Lk 3:22 And "the Holy Spirit descended in a bodily shape like a dove upon him" and a voice came from heaven, which said, Thou art my beloved Son; in thee I am well pleased.

The PROMISE = Holy Spirit will be given

Luke 24:49 And, behold, I send "the promise" of my Father upon you: but tarry ye in the city of Jerusalem, until ye be endued with power from on high
(NOTE: Jesus teaches he will send "the promise" the Father made him)

Act 1:4 And, being assembled together with them, commanded them that they should not depart from Jerusalem, but wait for "the promise" of the Father, which, saith he, ye have heard of me
(NOTE: Jesus tells them to wait in Jerusalem for "the promise" of the Father)

5 For John truly baptized with water; but ye shall be baptized with the Holy Spirit not many days hence.
(NOTE: Jesus foretells the giving/baptism/out pouring of the Holy Spirit to come)

Act 2:33 Therefore being by the right hand of God exalted, and having received of the Father the promise of the Holy Spirit, he hath shed forth this, which ye now see and hear
(NOTE: After Christ's glorification/resurrection. Christ sends the Promise of the Father = Holy Spirit)

Acts 2:
1 And when the day of Pentecost was fully come, they were all with one accord in one place
(NOTE: When the day of Pentecost had fully come)

4 And they were all "filled with the Holy Spirit" and began to speak with other tongues, as the Spirit gave them utterance
(NOTE: Here it is "filled with the Holy Spirit" The Kingdom of God is manifest right here. Christ's Spirit dwelling in us)

Christ ANOINTS/SEALS believers with the Holy Spirit of God

Vine's Expository Dictionary of New Testament Words: Verb, G4972, sphragizo

"to seal" is used to indicate

(d) ownership and security, together with destination, Revelation 7:3-Revelation 7:5 (as with the noun in Revelation 7:2; See A); the same three indications are conveyed in Ephesians 1:13, in the metaphor of the "sealing" of believers by the gift of the Holy Spirit, upon believing (i.e., at the time of their regeneration, not after a lapse of time in their spiritual life, "having also believed," not as AV, "after that ye believed;" the aorist participle marks the definiteness and completeness of the act of faith); the idea of destination is stressed by the phrase "the Holy Spirit of promise" (See also Ephesians 1:14); so Ephesians 4:30, "ye were sealed unto the day of redemption;" so in 2 Corinthians 1:22, where the Middle Voice intimates the special interest of the Sealer in His act;

Oil keeps the light of the lamp lit.
Spirit of Truth keeps the light of our lamp (soul/heart/eye) lit, so we can see the truth of where we are going in life on earth.
To be anointed, is to be filled with spirit, or with the Spirit of Truth.
Truth illuminates those that welcome (allow to be anointed by) it.

Acts 2:38,39 When we repent of our sins and ask Jesus into our hearts we are also receiving the promise of God that his Holy Spirit will come and dwell in our hearts and teach us of all things we need to learn, John 14:26. The baptism that Peter was talking about in Acts 2:38 was a Spiritual rebirth through the word of God. Some people think it is being dunked or sprinkled with water the way John the Baptist did and there is nothing wrong with that for it is an outward appearance to man that you have repented and received Jesus and the Holy Spirit into your life, Matthew 3:11, but Jesus himself never baptized with water, John 4:2, for the baptism of Jesus was for receiving the Spirit of God (Holy Spirit) that helps us to know the will of the Father, 1 Thessalonians 4:1-12.

Water is a medium in relation to spirit, such as living water.
Humans contain more than 50% water.
Baptism by water, or by human hand, is a means to be filled with spirit.

Where is water mentioned in Acts 2:1-4; 38-41?

If you compare John 3:5 with 1 John 5:5-8 water means word as in the word being the living water (John 4:9-15) as in the Father, the word (living water Jesus) and the Holy Spirit. The three that bear witness is Holy Spirit, Gods living word, and the blood of Jesus who made atonement for sin that we can be reconciled back to the Father.

John's baptism was for the remission of sin preparing the way of the Lord as the Holy Spirit was not yet given to men, Mark 1:1-5. It wasn't by river water, but the water symbolized the washing away of sin as they repented of their sin. On the day of Pentecost they were all gathered together in the upper room where they were indwelled with the Holy Spirit as when Christ ascended up to heaven God sent down the Holy Spirit to indwell those who received Jesus as Lord and Savior, John 14:26. No water involved.

Acts 10:44-48 they received the indwelling of the Holy Spirit before they were water baptized.

I said water was "a means to be filled with spirit".
i did not say it was a must.

How can water be a means to be filled with the Holt Spirit as it is God who sends the Holy Spirit to indwell those of faith in Christ.

Christ ANOINTS/SEALS believers with the Holy Spirit of God
I don't think Christ is the only preacher/pastor that can give someone the Holy Spirit. Remember Peter could do it in the book of acts and the prophets in the old testament give kings and people Holy Spirit by using oil. A pastor at my church laid hands on people and proclaimed that they could receive the Holy Spirit.
