It's like listening to the same song over and over. It gets old really fast.

I heard a girl that listened to pop/hip hop/ say that about rock before. Though I'm not a fan of rap myself, and I could never even be lead to listen to heavy rock or metal. I've stopped listening to classic rock. Classic rock has a lot of satanic connections. The Beatles, Led Zeppelin, The Doors, David Bowie, and Ozzy (who I never really came to like anyway), and others are all influenced by Aleister Crowley, 33rd degree mason, and self-proclaimed beast of revelation. Look at Sgt. Pepper's. He's on the album cover art. To think they would have Jesus on the album cover, but opted that out.

It already is.

The post is to make a point. Not to provoke intentions.

There are better ways to make a point.

You may not want to provoke intentions but there are people who struggle with that issue and come here to get away from that stuff. There are also young children that frequent this site.

I'm not coming down on you. Just a friendly word of advice. We need to be careful what we say in these forums. We don't all wear the same size shoe.
.

Have you ever heard of Group1crew?

I don't listen to them, but I checked out the lyrics to some of their songs before. Pretty good and solid stuff.

LeCrae is good, too, but that's rap.

In all things, depend on God to bring out the truth of the matter. A reliance on Him, trusting in Him, will solve a lot of problems that
come up if there is just acceptance of anything anyone else says, especially related to the world things, culture , entertainment and tv and media in every field.

God is intimately concerned with His children, every part and every aspect of our lives. Jesus did not die on a whim, nor in vain, nor to save a people who didn't matter to Him. His concern and provision to be restored in fellowship to and with Him is complete and full and lacking in nothing.

Simple then, take all things to Him in prayer, test everything, and rejoice that He has such a great and awesome care for us that He has provided a way for us to become His sons.(and daughters- 'included or understood to be with 'sons' in many places ')....

Having believed that any contemporary music was evil my entire childhood, I approached changing my views on that very, very cautiously. That included prayer.
I don't feel that my music choices are harmful to either myself, my relationship with God, or in my relations with others so long as I'm careful to respect their convictions.

That is the conclusion I came to. I'm not going to assume it will necessarily be the case for everyone else.

I would even be careful with Christian music. I'm currently now leery of Jesus Culture who is under Bill Johnson of bethel church. I believe in the gifts, but their activity is questionable.

I remember also coming across an article in which bethel was doing "grave soaking" in which they placed their hands on graves for some sort of anointing.

Which kinda upsets me because I was liking the music of Steffany.

I used to believe Christian contemporary was evil, too, and that's what I was mainly referring to in my post. I listen to only a small amount of secular music.

I'm not implying that CCM, or other genre variants of Christian music are entirely harmful. I'm just saying keep your eyes peeled.

questdriven: It's mainly the lyrics that really count, right?

The style is more subjective.

Blessings.

I don't really like hip hop or rap but a friend of mine says the Christian stuff is now better than the non-Christian. I do know that the Christian stuff often has very strong lyrics. I've posted this one before:

This is about as close as I get, and I love this song (the video is kind of cheezy from the bit I saw but it had the best sound quality lol):

How long you gonna sleep
How long you gonna act like you gonna act
Be how you wanna be
So when you gonna see
You need to get the facts but you wanna laugh
At what I'm gonna speak
You steady sinking deep
Plus ya sinking fast why you running back
Man why you wanna leave
So whats it gonna be
You need to get with that but your missed the fact
That what I'm gonna speak
This aint all a dream
You can try to dash but you gonna have
To face your reality
So this is what I seen
One day it's gonna crash then you'll understand
Everything I'm gonna mean

Wake up wake up
Wake up wake why are you falling asleep

So what you wanna do
You turn off the lights then you run and hide
And act like you never knew
Man you aint gotta clue
But you think you're right every single time you
Do what you wanna do
So when you gonna choose
When you gonna try to find your peace of mind
It's right there in front of you
It's time to make a move
You can still deny but the time's running out
Very very soon
So what I gotta prove
Why you walking blind when the signs
Is so obviously coming thru
Man this is now for you
You can try to lie and just still deny
But can't change what is true

The second one sounds more like metal to me.
