25 ish or so years ago I thought I wanted to be an accountant. My private college teacher was Catholic and had spent time as a Nun, but couldn't fight her biological urges so she stopped being a Nun, but was very active in her faith as was her husband and child.

One day she asked the class what we thought the church taught on sex before marriage. I raised my hand and said I thought God would be ok with it as long as they really loved one another.

Sometimes things aren't always that straight forward and sometimes we're just blinded to the truth for whatever reason it may be. But I also think that our lack of humilty, or put another way we might say our pride prevents our eyes from seeing Gods truth.

Deborah the dinosaur,.. has a nice ring to it. :wink Are you a herbivorous dinosaur, carnivorous dinosaur, or an omnivorous dinosaur? :lol (I think there were such things.) Sorry, it was getting all dark and serious and I really wanted to lighten the mood a bit. :)

Our ways are not God's ways nor our thoughts His thoughts. We need to throw away that box that so many want to keep Him in.

It's really rather funny how my mind sometimes likes to still play tricks on me. Thank God we aren't saved by what goes on in there because sometimes it isn't pretty and even though they really are so miniscule anymore,.. I find my mind with thoughts trying to fight the fact that I'm not truly saved and that I'm not going to Heaven because Jesus doesn't know me. A lot of the time I think that the mind is really controlled by the devil. For he is the one who wants me to feel that way, but I already know that he's a liar because I believe in my heart in the Risen one and so that's what truly determines my salvation. :cross

There is no place in the Bible that constitutes having to have a marriage license. Man incorporated this into the law. In the Hebrew tradition a mohar or dowry was paid to the father of the bride by the groom in exchange for the daughter, Exodus 22:17. Genesis 2:23-25 explains the bond of marriage. The two are united as one in the eyes of God.
 
Jesus was invited to a wedding.

When the wine ran out, the mother of Jesus said to him, “They have no wine.” And Jesus said to her, “Woman, what does this have to do with me?

Lol. If I called my mother "woman" she would probably get offended.

The law of Moses stated that and since was a theocracy ,

Should a church have such power to decree divorces ,as moses said .

You,can't go,there as each culture had its way ,any one could simply,say they are and well,good luck for land rights,property passing upon,death without a physical acknowledgement before all.

My,grandparents married under the chuppa ,which goes back to before Christ .as its mentioned where they have the bride announced its not as long,as it was bit its not that different and yes there a marriage contract signed by the couple .my,dad has his dads one,its in Aramaic ,that also was started before Christ ,it was in Hebrew but since the first diaspora it was in Aramaic since .

That is how property rights were established by the local synagogue in that that they would marry ,birth would be known so that land bought could be passed,contracts buried in jars,on the land disputes settle by judges,and before

Idk what that has to do with this but I would never call my mother "Woman" unless I was just joking around with her lol! It was just different times back then. :lol

Actually, I am wrong about there being no marriage licenses mentioned in the 613 laws. #69 That there shall be no harlot (in Israel) that is, that there shall be no intercourse with a woman, without previous marriage with a deed of marriage and formal declaration of marriage

A contract called the ketubah spells out the terms of marriage and divorce.

which is what I,mentioned .I,knew its old ,just not water of it in,the bible
