Just to start a discussion of studying the bible chronologically.

Why would I do this?
In my studies, I found out to my surprise, that the Old and New Testament were neither assembled chronologically, as they were written catagorically in groupings of topics, and being that I was deep into studying the New Testament at the time, I wanted to approach it in the order it was written, and see if that had an affect on any bible doctrines that we accept today.

The New Testament wasn't assembled chronologically, or in the order, date wise, that it was written.
It was assembled in groupings, using the Old Testament as a model, which made the New Testament flow better, in some cases. The Old Testament too.
I spent nearly a year researching the accepted Chronological order of the New Testament by scholars. As in most biblical topics there are a number of opinions, and so I researched and read hundreds of opinions and commentaries, until I was able to come to a conclusion for myself that would give me a proper foundation for my study.

What I ended up doing was wanting to purchase a chronological bible that would represent something I could read and study as the initial bible was written, with each book in order as it was written.
Unfortunately the chronological bibles I did find were incredibly complicated, and almost impossible to follow, at least for me.
So what do I do?

I prayed and asked the Holy Spirit to lead me, and I would be patient, as I felt I was being led into this.
At some point I decided to create a chronological bible for myself, one of three bibles I rearranged or modified to better study the fullness of scripture, and Gods intentions, as it had been initially delivered by God to man.

I went on a website where they sell everything by bidding or buy it now, and eventually found a used bible that was in very good shape.
It turned out this was a very popular publication and there was quite a number of these for sale all the time, so later on I could use the same bibles for some other projects too, to help me in my deeper studies.

I cut the first bible up, separating each New Testament book, and got some New Testament tabs for identifying each book, and proceeded to reassemble my bible "CHRONOLOGICALLY."

What I will say here, as I'd like this to be a challenge to do the same thing, when reading in the order the books were written, it becomes obvious that some things we believe today are impossible to be true, because the order of things in their proper place don't support some of today's doctrinal beliefs, because dates are out of order for them to be accurate.

I did the work, so I'm suggesting that others here do the same. Many of you will be surprised if you set out as I did.

This is part of the process of maturing, so don't ask me what the questions or answers are to what I discovered, as that is a theological discussion, best left to those who put in the time and invest their money as I did, for new deeper discoveries in Christ, led by the Holy Spirit, otherwise what I tell you won't make any sense because you won't have the learning and knowledge foundation to mature properly, and go deeper into understanding God's word, and be able to ask the proper educated questions.

Chronological order of the NT can not be exact in date according to the letters that were written by the disciples and Mark and Luke in whom Mark was a companion to Peter and Luke a companion to Paul and not part of the twelve disciples who were first called by Jesus. . The dating of each book begins 40 + years after the death of Jesus, but the various dates can not be pinpointed. What's most important is who Christ is in every book of the Bible and our relationship with Him.

Absolutely true. But if a person takes enough time researching, the written order can become somewhat accurate, but doesn't need to be perfect in order to see how doctrines can be affected.

For me, it was a fun exercise to put the bible in a closer order, as well as realize that the bible was not assembled as written, so what people accept today as a beginning of salvation, according to the books proper order, that means of salvation wasn't available.

As an example

Conversion by inviting Jesus into your heart Rev. 3:20, but it's good to read 14 - 22 for the entire context thought.

The problem with this particular example, is that this is JESUS SPEAKING to an entire church of believers, already converted, the church of Laodicea, that Jesus was admonishing for being lukewarm in their faith, and Jesus is telling the entire congragation to repent, and open their closed hearts back open to Jesus, and let Jesus back into their hearts.

The second problem is that the book of Revelation was the last book written and as it's placed in the bible, written long after any examples of conversion earlier in scripture so their is a large problem with a doctrine that has this belief.

God bless you all.

If we start with "In the beginning" and end with "The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with you all. Amen." we can see from the beginning to the end is all about God's grace from Genesis to Revelations. We can see by God's grace comes faith in Christ Jesus in all 66 books of the Bible. History is needed within the chronologic for the timeline of events that proceed each other in that which has already occurred in order and that yet which will come.

Here is a couple websites I found to be very interesting.

britannica.com - Biblical literature - Old Testament canon, texts and versions...

The Hebrew Bible is often known among Jews as Tanakh, an acronym derived from the names of its three divisions being Torah (Instruction, or law also called the Pentateuch), Neviium (Prophets) and Ketuvim (Writings).

The Torah contains five books: Genesis, Exodus, Leviticus, Numbers and Deuteronomy

The Neviim comprise eight books divided into Former Prophets containing the four historical works Joshua, Judges, Samuel and Kings. (Notice there were no 1st or 2nd Samuel or Kings) The Latter Prophets, the oracular discourses of Isaiah, Jeremiah, Ezekiel, and the Twelve Minor Prophets, Hosea, Joel, Amos, Obadiah, Jonah, Micah, Nahum, Habakkuk, Zephaniah, Haggai, Zechariah and Malachi.

The Twelve were all formerly written on a single scroll thus reckond as one book. The Ketuvim consist of religious poetry and wisdom literature, Psalms, Proverbs and Job, a collection known as the Five Megillot (Five Scrolls; i.e., Song of Songs, Ruth, Lamentations, Ecclesiastes and Esther, which have been grouped together according to the annual cycle of their public reading in the synagogue) and the books of Daniel, Ezra, Nehemiah and Chronicles (No 1st or 2nd Chronicles).

You can read more at that website that goes into greater detail.

The whole OT is not law according to the break down I just gave. Psalms has nothing to do with the law as it's about poetry, song and music instruments according to the the Ketuvim. In the Tanakh (Hebrew Bible) there is no OT or NT as Jews would not recognize the Bible we use today as many Jewish writings were not added to our Bible.

Hebrew Bible - en.m.wikipedia.org Books of the Tanakh/Mikra (Hebrew Bible) divided into three parts:

1. Torah/Pentateuch (teaching) five books:

Bereishit - Genesis
Shemot - Exodus
Vayikra - Leviticus
Bemidbr - Numbers
Devarim - Deuteronomy

2. Neviim (prophets) eight books divided into two groups:

Former Prophets (Neviim Rishonim) -
Yehoshua - Joshua,
Shophtim - Judges,
Shmuel - Samuel,
Mlakhim - Kings

Latter Prophets (Neviim Aharonim) -
Yeshaayauh -Isaiah
Yirmyahu - Jeremiah
Yekhezqiel - Ezekiel

Twelve Minor Prophets - Hoshea (Hosea), Yoel (Joel), Ovadhyah (Obadiah), Yonah (Jonah), Mikhah (Micah), Khavhakuk (Habakkuk), Tsephanyah (Zephaniah), Khaggai (Haggai), Zkharyah (Zechariah), Malachi) Malachi

3. Ketuvim (writings) eleven books divided into three subgroups:

The three poetic books:
Tehillim (Psalms), Mishlei (Proverbs), Lyyobh (Job)

The Five Megillot/Hamesh:
Megillot Shir Hashirim (Song of Solomon), Ruth, Eikhah (Lamentations), Qoheleth (Ecclesiastes), Ester (Esther)

Other Books: Daniel, Ezra, Nehemiah, Divei ha-Yamim (Chronicles)

Were you aware that there are NT books in loose leaf form? It would then be very easy to rearrange it.
TD:)
