‘My Confession’ by Ben Stein

I don't like getting pushed around for being a Jew, and I don't think Christians like getting pushed around for being Christians.

I think people who believe in God are sick and tired of getting pushed around, period.

I have no idea where the concept came from, that America is an explicitly atheist country. I can't find it in the Constitution and I don't like it being shoved down my throat.

Or maybe I can put it another way; where did the idea come from that we should worship celebrities and we aren't allowed to worship God as we understand Him?

I guess that's a sign that I'm getting old, too.

But there are a lot of us who are wondering where these celebrities came from and where the America we knew went to.

In light of the many jokes we send to one another for a laugh, this is a little different.

This is not intended to be a joke; it's not funny, it's intended to get you thinking.

In light of recent events... terrorists attack, school shootings, etc., I think it started when Madeleine Murray O'Hare (she was murdered, her body found a few years ago) complained she didn't want prayer in our schools, and we said OK.

Then someone said you better not read the Bible in school. The Bible says: thou shalt not kill; thou shalt not steal, and Love your neighbor as yourself.

And we said OK.

Then Dr. Benjamin Spock said we shouldn't spank our children when they misbehave, because their little personalities would be warped and we might damage their self-esteem (Dr. Spock's son committed suicide).

We said an expert should know what he's talking about.

And we said okay. Now we're asking ourselves why our children have no conscience, why they don't know right from wrong, and why it doesn't bother them to kill strangers, their classmates, and themselves.

Probably, if we think about it long and hard enough, we can figure it out. I think it has a great deal to do with 'WE REAP WHAT WE SOW.'

Funny how simple it is for people to trash God and then wonder why the world's going to hell.

Funny how we believe what the newspapers say, but question what the Bible says.

Funny how you can send 'jokes' through e-mail and they spread like wildfire, but when you start sending messages regarding the Lord, people think twice about sharing.

Funny how lewd, crude, vulgar and obscene articles pass freely through cyberspace, but public discussion of God is suppressed in the school and workplace.

Are you laughing yet?

Funny how when you forward this message, you will not send it to many on your address list because you're not sure what they believe, or what they will think of you for sending it.

Funny how we can be more worried about what other people think of us than what God thinks of us.

Pass it on if you think it has merit.

If not, then just discard it... no one will know you did. But, if you discard this thought process, don't sit back and complain about what bad shape the world is in.

never to late if we the church would get revived first become the salt and light we should.. crave the hunger and thirst for righteousness ( i put me at the top of the list ] things might turn around.. the Body of Christ is full of division .what did Jesus say about a house divided against it self .will not stand take a look around us look at the forum we ca,t even agree on baptism .the church just below pastor has resigned after being there just better than a year . my understanding couple families was always nipping at his heels.. when a church brings in a pastor he is the manager of the spiritual affairs of the church . he becomes a servant NOT A DOOR MAT he is the under shepherd trying to follow directions from the great shepherd. be the church the body of Christ .

totally agree

if we are on fire for God then others are attracted

God is so amazing - what is there NOT to be excited about?

the Almighty God is our Father Savior Redeemer Healer Teacher Protector -
HE loves us with an undeserved everlasting unconditional unwavering love -
HE made plans here on earth and in the future in heaven for us -
HE forgave us all our sins - taking our sins on HIMSELF and giving us HIS righteousness -
HE patiently and compassionately helps us get our lives healed restored and straightened out -
HE answers when we call -
HE lifts us up when we fall -
HE dusts us off when we mess up -
HE erases our sins by Jesus' blood -
HE keeps inspiring us to do the right thing -
and much much more

best deal i ever found in my entire life

exactly put we will tip toe around the tulips .so we dont offend ..i realize when preaching we are to build up not tear down but sometimes things needs to said how they are .we should be excited
amen

i agree we should say the truth because the truth sets people free

but the key is to speak the truth in love

i have made the mistake many times of judging someone and assuming that they are willfully sinning or willfully ignorant

one time i met a young unmarried couple in church

they were sweet people - and i ignorantly assumed they must have known that they were living in sin

well God constrained my tongue and i very kindly and gently told them about the blessings from God for a couple who are married

they thanked me and very soon after did get married

what i found out that day is they hadn't read the bible enough to know what God said about marriage

as soon as they heard the truth it affected them positively

i'm so glad i didn't tell them the truth offensively

the kindness i showed them caused them to fully accept the truth and act on it

that taught me to forever assume the BEST about people instead of the worst

ALSO people often rise to my HIGH opinion of them - so i love to find people's best points

i think we all been guilty sometimes we have to let the holy spirit convict there are ways of saying things at the right time with the right words. in the case of the church pastor stepping down .1. he never had much chance one family didnt care for him 2. he was the wrong type baptist. all this should have been headed off . but when leadership in the church is afraid of offending when someone is wrong. actually steps need to be taken is go to the person in private and talk to them. that dont work two go to the person and speak.that dont work you take it before the church . really being a family things should be able to be worked out.. but instead we resort to the flesh and it goes wrong ==the devil way

It already has started turning around. Don't you Brothers and Sisters remember just a couple years ago, when Obama was nearing the end of his term? It was like an evil black cloud was over the United States. The atmosphere was totally dark and everything was going crazy.

Most people could sense the evil and corruption. War drums were beating hard and loud. It was then, that people started to pray and return to the Lord, for help. The Lord had mercy on this nation and gave us an extension of time. When Trump took office things were immediately better. He may have his faults, but things got better. The atmosphere is better now. There has been a revival. I hear about it. I see it. I feel it.

We have to keep praying though. This is not a time to be slack in prayer or fasting. The Lord is at the door and we better be ready. What I don't understand, is why Christians do not walk in the power and authority of God. No one can stand against God and His people. If the Lord be for us, who could be against us? Yet the majority still seem content to be told what to think and do. I don't get that. Where are the acts of faith?

great points - great post

imo it's because they don't see anyone else doing that - so they do what they see

that is why imo we can be the GREATEST influence on others NOT by telling them what to do but by SHOWING them what to do

may we all be living examples of a life lived fully to the glory of God - so that others will see that powerful life and crave it for themselves - in Jesus' name i pray this over us all

Luke 9:23 And he said to them all, If any man will come after me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross daily, and follow me. 24 For whosoever will save his life shall lose it: but whosoever will lose his life for my sake, the same shall save it. 25 For what is a man advantaged, if he gain the whole world, and lose himself, or be cast away? 26 For whosoever shall be ashamed of me and of my words, of him shall the Son of man be ashamed, when he shall come in his own glory, and in his Father's, and of the holy angels. 27 But I tell you of a truth, there be some standing here, which shall not taste of death, till they see the kingdom of God.

2 Chronicles 7:14 If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land.

It's time to get out of our comfort zone and be that servant God has called us to be. The Church being the body of Christ needs to leave the four walls and start going to the four corners of the earth giving no concern for ourselves as we need to be more concerned about the lost sheep that Jesus came to save.
