What is the answer for Christians as they see the death and destruction spreading around the world. As looks like this is going to be repeated in the fall, it will become the new normal...

"The Coronavirus Will Return In The Fall...

Topline: Dr. Anthony Fauci, the director of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases, said at a White House press briefing Monday he anticipates the coronavirus will come back in another wave later this year—but added the U.S. will be much better prepared to deal with another outbreak, if it happens, in the fall.
  • Medical experts have been warning the coronavirus could be cyclical, meaning it could come back in the fall even if its spread is halted in the next few months.
  • Fauci said he “anticipates” such an event happening in the U.S. “because of the degree of transmissibility” and the fact that countries in the Southern Hemisphere are seeing more cases as they transition into their winter season.
  • He added an outbreak in the fall would be a “totally different ballgame” because the country’s increased ability to test, identify and isolate those who are infected will be “orders of magnitude better than what it was just a couple of months ago.”
  • Clinical trials are also underway for a number of treatments and Fauci hopes one or more of them will be available
  • Fauci also raised the possibility of a vaccine being available next season under an emergency use “if we start seeing an efficacy signal” in any one of the multiple candidate vaccines.
  • Other medical experts have warned that if there is a dip in cases during the summer months, the U.S. needs to stock up on ventilators and other supplies to handle another wave."...The Coronavirus Will Return In The Fall, Fauci Predicts, But The U.S. Will Be Better Prepared

To answer your OP question in the title...

Because everyone is afforded a measure of grace that allows them to continue to live after sinning.
The Earth is a holy self regulating system and seeks to remove error filled mankind from itself even though there is supposed to be a symbiotic relationship between the two.
Mankind has exceeded its level of "common grace" and is paying the price with this virus.
This is a good place to discuss corporate sin versus individual sin.

The old addage:
No one snowflake feels responsible for the avalanche is true...but we all are guilty to some measure. And so we must pay the price on an earthly level for our crimes...and it is just. The air is cleaner from the reduced carbon emissions from jets and automobiles, fires, and industry.
Maybe we'll catch a break from this...and the next one.
But the Earth doesn't forgive (hence it is doomed to destruction one day)and we are going to see this plague run its course completely.

Pain, evil, tragedy, suffering. Why does God allow these things ???
My short answer is I don't know

It's a popular question that countless people have asked.
With something like the Chinese virus this wasn't created by God but by man
It was brought to this world by the horrible slaughtering of all kinds of animals in a market place.

Feces from live animals and blood from slaughtered animals provide a heaven for all kinds of bacteria at these markets. Bats, rats and many other animals contain disease which gets passed onto us.

The question of pain, evil, tragedy and suffering was a hurdle for me when I was coming back to God. Why some people become disabled? Why are others born disabled?

I really feel for disabled people. As i was waiting at the traffic lights once I saw a young teenager in a wheelchair with some kind of neurological disease. He was a quadriplegic, couldn't speak, may have had a mental disorder as well. He sat motionless while a woman, I presume his mother, pushed the wheelchair across the road. She was in good spirits as she spoke to the boy most of the time and she passed a cup with a straw to his lips for him to have a drink.

Now put your self in his shoes. Actually close your eyes and try to imagine what it would be like to live like that... The despair and suffering is too much for me to even imagine and i snap out of it feeling this overwhelming sense of sadness and emptiness.

How? Why? I came to the conclusion that this is the result of evil, randomly destroying lives. But that's not what Jesus said...

"As he went along, he saw a man blind from birth. His disciples asked him, “Rabbi, who sinned, this man or his parents, that he was born blind?”
“Neither this man nor his parents sinned,” said Jesus, “but this happened so that the works of God might be displayed in him." John 9:1-3

To me this is the most dissatisfying passage in the NT. In fact it's the most dissatisfying thing that Jesus said while on earth. He basically says that this man was born blind so that he could cure him. One could probably find another meaning in there but I've read a few bible commentaries on this passage and they all say the same thing.

If you search for answers to this question you will find people trying to give different answers. But I don't find any of them to be very convincing when applied to this scenario. Therefore I choose to just say "i don't know" and submit to God by trusting in his greater plan...:pray

This isn't a man created virus...none of the markers of lab creation are present.
That isn't saying that it wasn't being played with and it got loose.

Two completely different scenarios.
I tend to believe that someone found it, was playing with it, and due to a lack of oversight it got loose .

That's because of the agreement of not looking at the anthropology in order to promote a doctrine.
It's a refutation of both Calvinism and Armenian doctrines.
If you continue reading the story that one question is central to a debate very similar to the current version of C vx A.

There are no "just another miracle stories " in John...each one (especially this one) had a very specific point to make.
It ought to be very telling when no one has a good explanation.

When I ask God "why"? he always answers either "it is too complicated" or "more shall be revealed."

History shows us that what may seem like Satan is sometimes God rearranging things through trial and tribulation. I don't know why, but Jeff gave me an idea when he said "God has chosen to perfect us through pain and suffering."

I actually stopped asking why in 1982 because it became obvious that there was an historical pattern of trials here on earth that always ended with a transformation.

When Christ died on the cross that was the beginning of a great transformation. When we lose our job or our apartment that is always the beginning of a great transformation.

My own personal story and the story of others authenticates that things like pandemics are just a means to an end for God. Therefore we must look at the bright side even it is only the size of a mustard seed.

I find the path to peace is through acceptance of life on life's terms. The terms are simples according to David Richo:

We are ultimately alone
Life is about change
Life is suffering
Life is unfair

I think David Richo was wrong about being alone. We have God and each other.

So to answer your question of why God is doing this to us, the answer is that it is part of being perfected.

My own personal view is that God is giving us a wakeup call with regard to materialism. He is taking away a lot from people so they will hopefully get their priorities straight. The homeless problem is out of control and they are now being given rooms in a hotel. Good people are stepping out into the light and sharing what they have.

This is all just my opinion . . .

Covid reveals serious problems in the society and economy. Inequality. Downsides of neoliberal capitalism. Ill effects of austerity measures. Not on God.

I submit the inability of men via the state to fund a safety net .the elderly were refused healthcare in Italy and new York .

God is showing us if we are open that He alone will provide ,deliverance via healing or death with him.there is no bad position for the sinner,I didn't say no pain ,loss or suffering but this world is temporal

I disagree. An imperfect safety net is better than the alternative.
When the state tells you ,we will charge you for being married and having better insurance, when the state taxes your disability ,as my,wife has that because I,work ,or like many, you, must sue to collect.

You won't have to sue God to,collect what he says he gives .yet with va ,ss you, will.

The state damn well knew of agent orange, the burn pits and lies .

I can rant way more on this said stimulus may negate my bankruotcy, owe the its and you can't pay ,bankruotcy is dismissed.

That is what God does, people like you view the state as one who doesn't ration.it does .

I,never said capitalism was perfect ,I simply counterbalanced your statement statement because I lived some of it

They are the answers I get as well. Our human brains have a very limited degree of wisdom and are only capable of processing some earthly things

I think that all will be revealed when we die leaving us feeling in awe of Gods glory

IMO, I see this as a precursor of those things that will come in the end of days. We are not to fear this, but stand strong and trust God who is in control of all of this for His purpose under heaven. I believe that purpose is to draw others unto Him as with any pandemic as there is no greater time then that of spreading the Gospel message to give others hope in times of distress and uncertainty.

Why God allows us to go through trials and tribulations:
1. Training as God prepares us for the future
2. Patience as we rely and trust in God's timing
3. Perseverance through trials that we remain in Gods will
4. Trust as God's ways are not our ways and He has a better plan for us
5. To learn from our mistakes
6. To humble ourselves before Him
7. To discipline us
8. Teach us to be dependent on Him alone
9. To spend quiet time with God so He can speak to us
10. To teach us of His protection
11. That we also share in the sufferings of Christ that we be not ashamed
12. Strengthen us to become more like Christ
13. To develop character
14. Build up our faith in the Lord
15. For a testimony and witness to help others
16. To show us sin in our lives that we need to own up to having
17. To remind us that God is in control
18. Helps us gain knowledge and understanding God's word
19. Teaches us to be thankful
20. To take our mind off the things of the world and and put them back on God

He doesn't allow it - we do - the stupid things people do hurt others - eating strange wild animals from a wet market it pure foolishness - the result is what we have now

hiding the fact that your country has a pandemic from the rest of the world hurts the rest of the world

not closing your borders when you do find out where the virus is coming from is a foolish way to harm your country

if we love God with all our heart and seek Him - and if we love our neighbors as ourselves we wouldn't have these terrible things on earth

God gave us a free will - we should use our free will to do the things HE says so things will work out well

eating bats etc from a wet market is clearly the first thing God told us not to do

that is one way to look at it but i am not going to blame this evil on God when Jesus said in John 10:10 the devil comes to steal kill and destroy but HE came to give life and life abundant - and when God clearly said in Deuteronomy 28:1-14 and Joshua 1:8 and Joshua 24:15 for us to do everything God says and choose good rather than evil

He gave us dominion - so it's back on us - Genesis 1:26

if God had retained dominion then i would agree with what you said

funny that the only place God gave us authority/dominion is a mess

everything else God did not give us authority over is doing just fine

Ok,thats really not biblical.

So because man sinned and Adam didn't die that instant ,God didn't plan that?he didn't allow man to sin, proclaim a curse upon the earth ,so powerful is man that God has no power over the earth?

Long before the cross.

Heaven is my throne ,the earth I'd my footstool.

All of the earth and the souls there in are mine,I raise nations ,I raise kings ,nations are but a drip to me.

I,raised pharoah up.. seems like God is on,control here.
I,never said God was to be blamed, war does things to my,mind ,I could allow the fact that i didn't get the jobs I applied for ,i could let that take my mind yet God is in control ,he sees things ,this world is temporal .he never lost his throne .

Satan had to ask per mission to put diseases on Job!Satan couldn't kill job ,God said he cant kill job .

I have no problem with saying or believing God allows pestilence, castophre and other things driven by nature to slay men.

He allows it and all that is good or bad is for His glory .

For it is appointed for all men to die then the judgement .do you really think little ole us can decide our time of death ,without God allowing it.look I have been seconds from death,my dad spared from drowning and God told me he spared me and my dad.

I know kids whose parents prayed for their kids who drowned and was told by God had you not prayed,i would have taken both. One lived in a coma for a week and prayers of faith healed him,God wanted that boy to live.

My own granddaughter Rosie, her mother went into a coma while pregnant they found her passed out ,doctors said she may not live,or the child, they saved both but it was close, autumn ,her heart stopped twice ,she wasn't able to breathe on her own for a month.

God choose not to take her .

Also God didn't have to save ,or show mercy to anyone.

For I will have mercy upon whom i have mercy upon, compassion upon, compassion upon I,will have it upon.

He chooses to be merciful.he controls his anger until,he decides to act.

God waited 400 years to slay the cannaanites.

good points - but then what do you do with Genesis 1:26?

for me Genesis 1:26 is God's will for us - but most people do not understand Genesis 1:26 enough to put it into practice - so God's mercy applied to situations is for sure a theological default position to take - thank God for His mercy and grace toward all of us in our time of need

God has an awesome provision for all of us in all situations - those who take authority dominion - those who only know grace and mercy

God bless you and your loved ones
