Here in Hawai'i, the rich property owners have the poor in a pressure cooker. Rent is sky high as is real estate. Mobile homes are not allowed nor are travel trailers because everyone would flock to them. The rich don't want that. Rent control greatly needed here.
Rent control creates slums because people sublease their places and everything goes back to market price except for the property owners who get the lowered income and can't afford to repair the property correctly.

Trust me...you don't want rent control.
What you need is for people to leave the island.

Most people in the USA have a roof over there head. It's reported about 0.17% are homeless each night.

0.17% is still a lot of people as the population is in the hundreds of millions. What would that be something like a few hundred thousand homeless each night?

What I don't get is people who cry poverty when they have a roof over there head, some food, and clothes. It's like some people cry poor when the basic needs are already covered. Just because some don't save anything and have to live very tight they cry poverty. They have the essentials it's not poverty. Or can also be just bad money management.

I literally had no choice but to live in a tent and stone age it for a while because there is nothing I can rent and prices are high and a million people apply, and I never cried poverty. I still had shelter and food. I now found somewhere temporary.

Most of the"homeless" here in America have both mental health issues and chemical dependant issues. They receive a check and are eligible for housing but would rather be homeless.
They are there by choice pure and simple.
Don't buy into the lie that they have no choice.
I've done extensive work with the homeless...they get angry when the mask and veils are removed...but the truth is mental health and chemical dependant.

Since you imply, that as a church we should just ignore the elderly deacon of 5 or 6 decades in such times ,and help the youth?

Is that Christ like ?

C'mon now that's not fair. I didn't say or imply that.
Both my parents are in their 70's and i dread the day they will pass away cos im not sure how I will handle it.

I could ask if it's Christ like to ignore the youth to help the elderly
Or who should jump in the life raft and who should stay on the sinking ship
But that's not fair either cos none of us is saying that

Im saying that the youth should be allowed to continue to work while the elderly can stay home given the low numbers in Australia, under 30 deaths. There is not point in making everyone suffer

Yes , I know many people prefer to be homeless. I have seen a few interviews. So for some that is there preference.

Jesus chose to be homeless.

"And Jesus said to him, “Foxes have holes and birds of the air have nests, but the Son of Man has nowhere to lay His head.”

We know that he always had somewhere to live if he really wanted he had lots of fans and followers that would have taken him in to live, but he choose not to as he was on a mission. He was materially homeless and choose to be.

I said the elderly should isolate, i didn't say to send them to hospital.

What I meant was that many young adults need a hospital's help to get them through 19. The CDC says 14.3% of those age 20-44 were hospitalized. If all the young adults get sick at once, there won't be enough hospital beds for 14.3% of them.

Im talking about Australia which has only had 21 deaths from C19.
Wide scale temperature testing of everyone is what the eastern countries have done with success..

I said the elderly should isolate, i didn't say to send them to hospital.

While Trump is looking to get things happening again soon our leader is talking about a "six month hibernation". This will cause the loss of countless businesses and jobs. Young people will have to default on mortgages sending them homeless. There will be more young people dyeing from suicide and other stress related mental illnesses like PTSD.

And we are prepared to sacrifice our young generation who have already have the biggest mountain to climb in the form of the average wage vs average house price gap.

Why? For who? The elderly baby boomers who only have a few years left to live anyway and are rich if not well off from being lucky to live in a prosperous era. They should be reasonable here and not ask this generation to take such a hit for them
you have the wrong attitude in the usa we take care of our elderly which is bible

My dad has dementia and we are trying to figure out what type.

Since you imply, that as a church we should just ignore the elderly deacon of 5 or 6 decades in such times ,and help the youth?

I lost my grandfathers to dementia.so please ,while I can joke about this with snowbirds ,and I have ,my,dads state of mental health is not good.my mom, pleas with me to call my dad.for some reason my dad thinks I live behind him,and his grandson also lives with me despite the fact he,the grandson lives with my parents .

My dad time is short ,I can call him but I won't subject them to a risk of covid
my mom gma aunt all 3 had alzheimer's very sad

What a horrible generalization to make about homeless people
You sure do like being the judge don't u. But ur not a very fair one

U said they have mental illnesses then claim they choose to be in that situation
Can u see the contradiction there? I doubt it so il just stop here and agree with u

Ye mate, all homeless people are pathetic, their all junkies that don't wanna work hard like u did. U deserve everything u have and they deserve everything they have

Christ the King
Do you think that also in many socialised medicine systems isn't or hasn't happened?
Given that ss in America is already at beyond capacity and broke same with Medicare ,is it fair to the youth to tax burdened for their grandparents.

Slipery lope.I'm not into how safety nets are created as the constitutional law requires it to be a tax,Medicare and social security are taxes

Its not an easy solution.

Without the elderly in my county ,the youth wouldn't be working..

Disney will ,and all of orlando have closed, watch my state start to falter ,if this doesn't end the state will have to borrow money or increase taxes, tourists, and snow birds drive the economy .

I fear for my second job ,and just saw my work papers Given me allowance to be at work ,driving to and from.

My county had few cases now we have 50.my state has more of a population then yours.I can't see if they allow open travel that it won't spread ,sure you can isolate the elderly but if you think the youth won't be carriers when they visit ,serve the elderly you are mistaken.

I have no easy answer as it became clearer on how we have to try to stop it.the 6ft rule i hear isn't enough .doctors already have said it ,so I hear

Where did i say not to take care of the elderly???
I care for my parents so what ur claiming about me is rubbish
What u did is called a strawman

Example. We don't abandon our children like you.
We nurture them like Jesus told us to

I'll repeat what i said and people can do what they like with it...

Im saying that the youth should be allowed to continue to work while the elderly can stay home given the low numbers in Australia, under 30 deaths.

Not much empathy for the youth up in here

As far as I am aware you did not. You said the elderly should be isolated, so that is thinking about there health during this issue.

Most are, they stay at home or in rest homes all day most days in there retirement.

Most of the elderly don't go out much in general.

I have several years of experience working intimately with these people. I know exactly of what I speak. It's not judging them...it's a fact.

I'm talking about the truly homeless and not the people blatantly panhandling on the streets...they have apartments.. some of them were my neighbors when I lived in another part of town.

Those who don't want to live on the streets are afforded lots of assistance to live a normal life...but they refuse to. We can't incarcerate people for living on the street here.
The involuntary incarceration for mental illness was rescinded here in America in the 60's at the same time that recreational drug use became popular. Those with bipolar disorder have no chance to escape narcotic drug addiction. Maybe less than 10% of bipolar ever have successfully escaped chemical dependancy.
We have had very very low unemployment here... usually we are understaffed at most places of employment.
So...your accusations are baseless and groundless.

there needs to be some stipulation on rent. i understand investment and some fail to take care of the property . market price is out of control to a brand new truck basics starting at 50 thousand or close to . i can build a home for that
