France and the USA are neck and neck for new cases...but France is still the leader.
Germany, Spain, Iran, and Italy all had rough days today...not going to let up any time soon.

They are finally starting to take is seriously. Now I feel better about what they are doing.

They should take the flu seriously every year. This is no different from any other flu. Every year millions of people get the flu and thousands of people die and many are hospitalised. No one ever talks about that or seemed to care.

Corona is the same, millions of people probably have it, they get light flu symptoms for a few days bit of a cough and runny nose, then get over it and carry on as normal. Where others get hit harder and go to hospital.

The only thing is I don't think they have a vaccine for this one, but I never get flu jabs anyhow so my immune system builds up.

Yes, I agree.

What I'm not understanding is why they are taking this one more seriously. Did people just wake up? The symptoms are the same as any flu, and death is rare, where people with some medical conditions and the elderly, im also guessing young babies as well?, can get hit way harder and need to be careful. That is the same as any flu and all flues.

What is making this flu being taken more seriously?. What am I missing?

And what are they saying, just do what you can not to spread it, that's just common sense with the flu. Don't go to work, stay hygienic and wash hands, whatever.

Because what they call serious is when you have to go to the hospital. And regular flu very very few ever get hospitalized for it.
You go to the doctor, get your prescription, and go on about your day for regular flu if you didn't get vaccinated for it before flu season.

This one strain there is no vaccines or cure, you're going to be sick for at least a month or two, older people who have diabetes or something else that compromised their immune systems have a small chance at recovery. (They die). This accounts for roughly 12% of the population. Which, when you look at Italy, the peak of the total number of people who are going to be sick at the same time hasn't happened yet...but the hospitals are overwhelmed already.

Meaning that if you catch this and you have some kind of medicine you take on a regular basis you don't have a good chance of getting better. People don't go to work when sick...there's no one working at the grocery store and the shelves are empty anyway because deliveries aren't getting done.
The gas stations run out of gasoline because they haven't had any deliveries. (Drivers are sick)
Fast food? Nope...not happening.
Movies, power, water, and gas work intermittently.

It becomes like every zombie movie out there except for the zombies chasing you.

Seasonal flu kills 291,000 to 646,000 people worldwide each year, who knows how many are hospitalised that's just deaths, it would be much higher then again there is not enough room for everyone to be hospitalized each year.

The system and media have majorly dramatised this one and created mass fear, what are we all being distracted from?, what bills are they passing why everyone is corona brianwashed.

Yes,
But countries like India, Pakistan and etc have yet to really get going with their pandemics yet. So far it's the wealthier nations which have travellers that have the largest numbers. Those are the places that really suffer from flu pandemics.
Your wealthier nations don't have near the deaths because of readily available medical care... unless the system gets overwhelmed...which is what is happening and going to continue to happen. That's the reason for the fear.

The latest news around here is that nursing homes are being shut down, prison visitation is being suspended, (good thing I already got to visit Joey last month) and schools all a crossed Ohio are going to be closed starting next week. (Even though they were getting ready for spring vacation anyways.)

I seriously debated about whether or not I should go to Yoga today and although I did wind up deciding to go, (we don't really get too close to each other anyways or go around touching a bunch of stuff) they might cancel classes anyways starting next week as well.

Buying toilet paper like oh 100 rolls, wiping out supplies of wipes isn't perfectly rational .
Sams and target out of both.

Where was the one article I saw about them canceling the coronavirus meeting due to the coronavirus? Would it be evil of me to say that that actually cracked me up a bit? Lol!

Virus can remain viable "in aerosols up to 3 hours, up to 4 hours on copper, up to 24 hours on cardboard and up to 2-3 days on plastic and stainless steel" a Princeton study awaiting peer review has found...

This ain't good either...

What I have seen is the coronavirus death rate is 3%. In North America it is more like 2%. Influenza's death rate is 0.1%, which basically makes coronavirus at least 20 times worse than having the flu. The flu usually knocks you out for a week. Coronavirus knocks you out for 2.

I can see the logic behind these extreme measures to try and slow and flatten the bell curve, while the health care system revs up for the influx. I'm still keeping my eye on possible conspiracy theories and thoughts of the hysteria being overblown, though.

Store was SUPER busy today! And it's a small chain grocery store....hate to think what bigger ones like WalMart were like today and probably right now. Probably so many people that it's hard to get from aisle to aisle.
