Not really, as there are many covenants in the Old Testament, including the New Covenant.

I said
I believe that is just your opinion. Which apparently I dont share.

That was no insult. Mostly humor. You look at the "theme" I look at what is written.

No big deal about this insult thing as but as for your last statement, did you get the point that the word "covenant" is not written and that we must use theme and context to determine what he is talking about?

That is where your wrong. It is Gods Word, and if we cant have faith in what is written we cant have real faith.

Rom 10:17
17 So then faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.

Do you not understand that our english bible is not original? It is a translation upon a translation? And do you not know that a word in italics in the bible means that it was added by the translators to try to clarify the passage and that it is not in the original Greek manuscripts?

Do you understand that the real God can put His Word in any language He so chooses. Do you think He is so cruel that He would only put it in one language and expect everyone in the world to learn that language.

2 Tim 3:16-17
16 All Scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness,
17 that the man of God may be complete, thoroughly equipped for every good work.
(NKJ)

1 Cor 14:10
10 There are, it may be, so many kinds of languages in the world, and none of them is without significance.

Yes, he can, but he didn't do it in English. Men have done it English, and as such, there are many of translations out there. Some are significantly different. Man chooses and adds words in English to put into an English bible so as to make it better understandble, or make it fit his theology. Such is the case in Heb. 8:13, imho.

I suppose that ends this conversation, lol. No hard feelings.

Do you have any real academic interest in this topic, Squeakybro, or is this no more than a game of tennis to you?

As for you, wavy, I've been reading your posts with great interest. You sound as if you know what you're talking about and I'd like to hear more from you.

??? My opinion ??? Huh? :o

There are many covenants in the Old Testament. Which do you consider to

be the Old Covenant? You can't think all of them are because even the

New Covenant are in the Old Testament.

So I'm asking you which covenant do you consider to be the Old

Covenant? JM provided a list;

1) The Edenic covenant - God and man pre fall
2) The Admaic covenant - Just post fall
3) The Noahic covenant - Post flood
4) The Abrahamic covenant - Children of Isreal
5) The Mosaic Covenant - Salvation through Works of the Law
6) The Palestinian Covenant - Promise of Land
7) The Davidic Covenant - Christ through David seed
8) The New Covenant - Forfilment of all other Covenants
9) The Everlasting Covenant - Predestination, (Doctrine of Grace)

The Covenant of Redemption (Covenant of Grace)

a. Covenant of Commencement - Gen.3:15

b. Covenant of Preservation (Noah) - Gen. 6, 8, 9

c. Covenant of Promise (Abraham) - Gen. 12, 15, 17

d. Covenant of Law (Moses) Exod. 20, Deut.

e. Covenant of the Kingdom - 2 Samuel 7

f. Covenant of Consummation - Jeremiah 31:31-34

So which of these (or any other) do you consider to be the Old Covenant?

God Bless!

I can make it easy for you. there was one before John the baptist and one after.

Luke 16:16
16 "The law and the prophets were until John. Since that time the kingdom of God has been preached, and everyone is pressing into it.
(NKJ)

Matt 11:12-13
12 "And from the days of John the Baptist until now the kingdom of heaven suffers violence, and the violent take it by force.
13 "For all the prophets and the law prophesied until John.

You could have made it real easy and just have said it. :)

(NKJ)

It seems you beliee that the law is the Old Covenant. It's not;

Gal 3:17 And this I say, [that] the covenant, that was confirmed before of God in Christ, the law, which was four hundred and thirty years after, cannot disannul, that it should make the promise of none effect.

Gal 3:18 For if the inheritance [be] of the law, [it is] no more of promise: but God gave [it] to Abraham by promise.

The law was an addition to the Old Covenant.

God Bless!

Joh 7:24 Do not judge according to sight, but judge righteous judgment.

Only let Yahweh lead you to truth. We all have a lot to learn.

I didnt say that. Try reading alittle slower. You ask me what I thought. I think everything before John the baptist is the old testament and everything after John the baptist is the new testament or covenant.
