raccoons and well roaches are here in our homes because we built over there homes. by nature they love trees. i have seem them almost an inch long in the woods.
i hate tics.rats. work on garbage trucks and rats will be seen and dealt with by you. i have removed a few dead ones and roger has killed a few.

Last nite was so beautiful still warm enough to have the windows open a gentle breeze then the SKUNK!

While falling asleep i was wondering if you guys had skunks 'downunder' . Gee Nick is downunder a rude term? Do you have an animal similar? We have civic cats also not quite as stinky....

Our dog killed a family of skunks about a month ago... Drug one home and was playing with it in the driveway. I drove up to it thinking it was dead and it raised it's tail... Ended up putting it out of it's misery with the 20 gauge.
I can't believe our dog took a direct hit and then drug it home to play with it being half dead.
The smell is in her glands and I'm told it can take several months before the smell leaves her. Yuk

We don't have a problem with coons, possum or any other critter including squirrels. Dog takes em out every chance she can. It gets so bad in the spring when all of em are having their babies we have to keep the dogs in just to give em a chance.

rats here get huge. i have killed a five pounder with a wheel balencer cone
dropped on his neck and he was done.

we have bobcats, they eat rabbits and chickens. they arent unique to florida. and then there's mr. armadillo. on the roaches. i kill those with automotive brake cleaner at work.
cheap and works quick.

Coon doesn't have much of a chance with our Rat Terrier... She's a killing machine.
My dad said he used to have a cat that would kill squirrels and leave squirrel tails all over the yard.

The more I hear about what dogs and cats will take care of the more I want to get one or the other. Too bad we just can't afford one at the moment, though it would have to be a dog since my wife hates cats.
Real problem with roaches and ants. Recently had to take care of a mouse. Crafty little devil. Kept putting peanut butter on the snap trap, but the darn little thing kept stealing it without tripping the trap. Finally, tied a piece of cheese to it with some fishing line. That finally did it.

you havent seen the coon here. they are large. just like your deer are huge and ours are small.
One of our Boston Terriers took a blast of skunk in the face--probably had his mouth open, barking. He had skunk breath for the rest of his life. We had his teeth cleaned and everything we could think of. We even gave him tomato juice to drink. And guess who got to give him a tomato juice bath? Me of course since I had a bad cold and couldn't smell anything. Several years later and 2 other Boston Terriers: they cornered the skunk in our back yard in town at 2AM. And once again guess who gave them the tomato juice bath. Right again. My husband got to comb the grocery stores for tomato juice.
Nick, I think we already sent you some of our rabbits. Can we share some skunks with you, too? We wouldn't want anyone to miss out on the experience---.
However, we rarely have roaches. We have spotted a couple of raccoons in the 30 years we have lived in this house. There are squirrels that tease our dogs unmercifully. 'used to have a cat but all she could catch were grasshoppers, which she both ate and fed to her babies. I still remember her with grasshopper legs hanging out of the corners of her mouth. Both mountain lions and moose are being spotted here every year or 2 and I do mean in the city limits. I see coyote running through peoples yards all too frequently. Deer are all over the state and we have large herds of elk that roam fairly close by. But ants are another story. My husband hates them and takes a propane torch to their nests as well as to paper wasps that build nests under the eves. Hummm.

No thanks. Australia has a really bad experience with introduced animals - rabbits (the English introduced them, actually), foxes, cane toads and much more. You guys can keep the skunks!

Actually, we in Canada have our fair share of skunks here (especially when I run over them in the car and they start to offend the olfactory organs...)
Not metro but not really rural--about 250,000 +, which makes it amazing to me. .
No surgery yet, I still have to call for the appointment. Thanks anyhow.
