The company can’t afford the type of truck driver my dad is anymore.

I just can't help but have a hunch he will find work soon. It is a strong feeling. Maybe he can get on with Walmart? I hear they have excellent benefits/pay etc...

Yeah I was thinking about doing this, expect my mom would have to be with me while I drive there. Since I wasn't to get my license before they stopped doing tests at the DMV here because of the virus.

My dad can get a job at pretty much any business I think. The problem is that my dad is an owner operator. And trucking for a business pays significantly less than what we need to pay bills. But God's got us, I trust Him, I'm just trying to convince my parents of that, please pray that they will lean on Him during this.
Praying for you Brock, and John,.. that only happened to you because of this whole entire Coronavirus thing right?

Yep...
All contracts are on hold.
They have stopped car making.
I was supposed to go to a car plant supplier and swap out 1800 lights.
That building is locked down completely...no one in or out... including those electricians who are to swap out lights. So the lights are just sitting there waiting to be installed.
The HVAC and fitters/plumbers are waiting for plants that are "non-essential" to unlock their doors as well.
We are the commercial/industrial workforce and are sitting still waiting to go to work.
And this is going to create the opposite problem that you would think.
We were suffering from a labor shortage to start with. Knowledgeable Craftsman who know a lot about what to do in every situation.
With the trades shutting down and people finding work in other fields it will create a huge huge shortage when the work comes back with a vengeance. (It will explode with all the projects put on hold but catching up with new projects at the same time as the clock keeps ticking)
The Fed is at negative interest rates... meaning that there's a penalty for deposited money. So they find it easier and cheaper to loan out money...and our entire industry works on credit...lots of it. From my paycheck to materials and equipment. Not just the building owner.
Oh and I meant to say that Brock, I'm praying for you and your family.

Let me try to explain this way...
A friend (dentist) wanted a camera/light installed on his home. Needed an electrician to do it.
He tried to hire one. Was Gonna have to pay $200 for the service call.
Couldn't get one to come and work for so little a job.
I finally got some free time and helped him out at my usual "Friends and Family rate". (Free)
Made him help me too.
But he did try for three weeks to hire someone to come do the job... unsuccessfully too.
