If you do not why do you not believe in "hell"?
Can you tell me what you mean by hell?
If you mean a place of eternal conscious torment where the wicked dead go to be tormented alive for all eternity, then no. I do not believe in that since the Bible clearly and directly states that the wicked will perish and will be no more.

If you mean "Gehenna", which is translated as hell, then yes. I believe in that.
If you mean "Sheol", which is translated as hell (sometimes, but erratically), then yes I believe in that. It is the grave.
If you mean "Hades", which is the Greek translation of Sheol, I believe in that the same as Sheol. If you mean Hades as the Pagan Greeks thought of it, as a place where the dead are alive and conscious, then no. I don't believe in that.

I just believe what the Bible says.

Dear Sister Kathi, I do believe in Gehenna/Hades/Sheol, also translated as hell eleven places of the New Testament such as in Luke 16:23. “And in hell he lift up his eyes, being in torments.”

The following are not the same. The grave or the sea is the abode of dead bodies. Hell is the prison as it were of the spirits of the unrighteous awaiting judgment. Paradise now in heaven, once known as Abraham’s bosom before Christ died on the cross is the place of comfort of the righteous.

One day future the bodies of the righteous will be caught up from their graves to heaven also, whereas we read of those bodies of the dead (unrighteous) in Rev 20:13 And the sea gave up the dead which were in it; and death and hell delivered up the dead which were in them: and they were judged every man according to their works. Rev 20:14 And death and hell were cast into the lake of fire. This is the second death.

G86 = Gehenna/hades/sheol, and hell.

G3419 = Grave, sepulcher, and tomb.

Just my thoughts.

Why do you think that "Hell is an expression of Gods compassion"?
When we talk about Hell, what we are talking about it the wrath of God. There can be no Love without Wrath. Hell is the ultimate place where Gods justice is carried out. Some will say that Hell is a place for those who want to be there. Others will say that Hell is a place for those who suppress the truth of God, but either way Justice is served in Hell.

The late Hunter Thompson was once asked if he believed in God. He said he did and that He and God where both interested in the same thing; JUSTICE. That's what Hell is; justice. We cannot say that about Heaven. Heaven is not a place of Justice because not one in Heaven deserves to be there.

Interesting....... Do you say, "My parents love me... and I have the scars of beatings to prove it?" I kind of doubt it.

BTW, you might find the definition of God's justice to be interesting. It is not "vengeance", but rather "setting wrong things, right." (Read Isaiah 61... all the way through, AND INCLUDING verse 8.)

And when you get that "Ah Hah!" moment, and want to say that you saw the word "vengeance" in there, seriously ask yourself WHY Jesus very deliberately left that word out when He quoted this passage in the temple.)

The question is, do you believe in Hell. Not how would you like Hell to be.

Of course I believe in something other than the kingdom for unbelievers, but the problem with all our declarations of knowing all about lakes of fire and torment, there is really no direct description of what that will be.

Yes.it is JUSTICE.And those who are there have put themselves there.

True, and we'll never know.

I dont think hell is what many people think. I dont want to comment on it because i dont really know.

I think too many things have been taken way out of context. Even things like early day 'slavery'. I guess a 'slave' was just the name for what we now call today a 'farm hand' for example. Anyone who works for someone else is there 'labourer'.
The Bible does say that hades and hell are very, very bad.You just don't want to go there.I think it would be a huge mistake to tell yourself that you are curious and want to find out.It would be easier to do than to be obedient to God and go to heaven. The Bible does say that broad is the road to hell but narrow is the road to heaven and not alot of people are going to make it.

I should have just done the dishes and stayed home. I got nothing. Seldom do i catch nothing. Something is not right.
