The seed of Abraham are all in Christ, both Jew and Gentile.

Merry:
There's a scripture that says "YOu are a peculiar people, a royal priesthood a holy nation a people belonging to God" Can I ask please who these people are? What is this holy 'NATION' that God refers to here?

Yes, that's 1Pe 2:9.

1Pe 2:9 But you are a chosen race, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a people for his own possession, that you may proclaim the excellencies of him who called you out of darkness into his marvelous light.

Peter is speaking to the Jews. Here are some of the verses that let us know that;

1Pe 1:1 Peter, an apostle of Jesus Christ, to the "strangers" scattered throughout Pontus, Galatia, Cappadocia, Asia, and Bithynia,
The strangers are the sojourners from a foreign land, which are the Jews, who are now in the land of the Gentiles.

1Pe 1:10 "Of which salvation the prophets have enquired and searched diligently,...
1Pe 1:12 Unto whom it was revealed, that not unto themselves, but unto 'us they did minister' the things,..."

The prophets prophesied to the Jews.

And finally, after 2:9 in v. 12,

1Pe 2:12 Having your conversation honest among the 'Gentiles':

Peter tells us clearly he's speaking to the Jews because he tells them how to speak with the Gentiles. It's crystal clear.

Then who are the seed of Abraham?

Hi Heidi,

You have come to an incorrect conclusion based upon not considering exactly what Paul wrote. Here's a closer look;

Heidi:
Romans 9:6-8, "For not all who are descended from Israel are Israel.

Descendants of Israel are those born of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob. That EXCLUDES Gentiles, as Gentiles have no descendant connection to either Isaac or Jacob. Therefore, Gentiles are EXCLUDED from inclusion in the statement.

Nor because they are his descendants are they all Abraham's children.

This statement would EXCLUDE Ishmael and his descendants from claiming to be of Jewish descent. They are Gentiles, and therefore also EXCLUDED.

On the contrary, 'It is through Isaac that your offspring will be reckoned.' In other words, it is not the natural children who are God's children, but it is the children of the promise who are Abraham's offspring."

Correct. ABRAHAM'S OFFSPRING, not Isaac or Jacob's offspring. Those coming to Christ are Abraham's seed, whether Jew or Gentile. But those of JEWISH descent (born of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob) are Israel, and it is them ONLY. Gentiles (EVERYONE not born of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob), are EXCLUDED from being Israel.

Pauls goes on to say in Romans 9:11, "Yet before the twins were born or had done anything good or bad-in order that God's purpose in election might stand; not by works but by him who calls-she was told.

In other words, all those chosen before the creation of the world are Israel.

Notice that Rom 9:11 doesn't use the words you use. You have included 'other words'. Paul was speaking of the election of Jacob, and not Esau. Esau the Gentile was EXCLUDED. Jacob, the one that Israel was to come out of (Jacob becoming Israel) was the ONLY ONE included in this election.

It is through Isaac that Christ came and redeemed the world.

And we Gentiles are not through Isaac. We are not descendants of Isaac. Therefore, we are not of Israel.

God Bless!

My questions:

what are the commandments the born again Christians are supposed to keep, as mentioned in the first page.
What are those commandments?
Jesus said "IF..you love me, keep my commandments", (John 14:15).
The Bible student knows that it was Christ, that wrote the 10 commandments on Mt. Sinai.
I think I know, but, I'd like to hear others comment.
And, Jesus said , "For I say unto you, That except your righteousnes shall exceed the righteousnes of the scribes and Pharisees, ye shall in no case enter into the kingdom of heaven."
Yes, Jesus mentioned that the Pharaisees made a big deal of the Law of Moses.
But, they broke God's law of the 10 commandments, because they tried to kill Jesus, more than one time.
Sounds like a very tough requirement. The scribes and Pharisees were fanatical in their following of the law of Moses.
The Law of Moses has been abolished (system of sacrifices, feast days).
The person who has studied their Bible knows that the 10 commandments is not ..the Law of Moses, and therefore has not been abolished, as Jesus said in (Matthew 5:17,18)

Question: Do you know where to find the New Covenant in the Bible ?

Do you know what it says ?

"Behold, the days come says the Lord, when I will make a new covenant...with the house of Israel, and with the house of Judah......for this is the covenant that I will make with the house of Israel after those days says the Lord; I will put my laws...into their minds, and write them in their hearts.....and I will be to them a God, and they shall be to me a people", (Hebrews 8:8-10).
Without the New Covenant....no one has a God ?
