I am currently doing an experiment on the old saying about never working with animals or children when it comes to Hollywood, and finding out why some people hate animals but love children which are much more challenging to raise. As I already wrote on the other thread I love children because I'm basically a big kid at heart and I can't wait to have some (or at least one) of my own someday. :)

Also pretty much everybody on here already knows that I'm a huge animal lover and I already have a cat and wishing for a dog to go along with it. :yes That's basically because I love the companionship and my favorite thing about it is being able to cuddle up to something warm and furry as well as playing with them and giving me something to do when I'm bored. In fact I've got my kitty all snuggled up to me as I'm writing this right now. :biggrin2 (Also, I had a dog before I just really miss having one. :sad)

Cats, dogs, and birds are what I grew up with. Even had a brother with a pet rat for a while. Currently have a few cats, but who knows in the future. Might have rabbits or something else too.

Yeah I like animals. Helps to not be alegeric to them. And to have good pets as a kid instead of having something bite you and hate or fear them long after.

Well I don't really care for rats but yes I love the other three animals that you just mentioned. :) When I was a little kid I used to be allergic to cats but I'm glad that I don't seem to be anymore and that I became immune to them because cats truly are my favorite. :biggrin2

The rat my brother had was pretty cool. He was going to be a feeding rat for science teacher's snake. My brother asked if he could have him and surprised my parent when he brought him home. Our mom wasn't happy about the deal, but we kept the guy and grew to like him.

I can't stand snakes either! Hey JohnDB are you with me on this one? Or are you like Crocodile Dundee and you eat them as well? :lol Sorry, I had to make a Crocodile Dundee joke because I love those movies but unfortunately most of the clips aren't appropriate for here. Especially my favorite one which is you can eat it but it tastes like you know what. Hopefully I can get away with that one. :tongue Even if I couldn't normally, I really don't think that you would tell on me. :wink

A cousin had a snake he brought over once. Pretty neat too. How they move is a weird feeling if they go over your arm or hand. I've never had a snake, but I bet they can show affection in their own way like most other animals can. That said, I don't think it's a good idea to house a wild predator as a pet. Love of animals is one thing. Having a crocodile, a lion, or any other exotic predator is a bad idea I hear happening occasionally to rich eccentric people who don't realize fluffy is big and wild.

What I mean is there are limits. If snakes and rats are the limits for you, that's ok. At least you have the sense to have those limits, whatever they are. Personally I hope to see the day when a lion and a lamb can rest together, and a child is safe with a snake. Wouldn't it be awesome if that promise in the old Testiment is a literal promise for a new earth and the kingdom of heaven on it, (instead of the animals being symbolic of something else as some interpret simular prophecies to be like).

Imagine going to the zoo and seeing all the animals there. Now imagine being able to live with those animal with them confined by the zoo for our safety (and theirs). If tgat happens I can't wait. :)

Game meats are very exotic and expensive. And on the menu at high end restaurants.

Lions, tigers and bears...oh my!

Umm,.. isn't lion and tiger meat illegal? :confused

I've heard it, but doesn't it refer to not performing with children or animals because they tend to steal the scene?

Umm Idk,.. maybe. :shrug

I'm sorry but I'm still living in this lifetime, I really can't picture myself snuggling up with a snake. *shudders*

Nope. There are varieties that are farm raised and available to purchase for human consumption. All USDA inspected.

But let's put it this way.
Venison (the least expensive game meat) is farm raised and available for around $14-$15 per pound. (For the cheap cuts)

And the price only goes up from there.

So most people don't have that kind of money for a variety meat.

What do you mean that there are varieties though? Does that mean just anybody can go out and shoot and kill a lion or a tiger that they're planning on eating?

No...how many types of dear exist?
Types of lions?
Types of tigers?

First of all it's deer not dear (yeah grammar Nazi remember? :lol) and second of all I didn't study because I didn't realize that you would be giving me a pop quiz today. :thinking
