An archer draws its bow, sets their eye to the target then releases the arrow.

We as a child of God draw on the word of God, set our site on God's will as taking the Gospel message out to the world and then we release the word of God on those who have ears to hear.

Have you read (I'm trying to accurately remember) the 18th Psalm and then the 23rd chapter of either first or second Samuel...they are the same but changed slightly. It's David's last psalm he wrote.

It's one of the most blatant uses of the arrow metaphor in Hebrew. Where arrows and lightning are used interchangeably.

The Holy Spirit brought me to Psalms 18 back in 1997 when I was going through one of the worst times of my life as those words seemed to leap off the page right into my heart.

Also read Deuteronomy 32 as it goes along with Psalms 18 and 2 Samuel 23. Arrows are sometimes used figuratively for bolts of lightning like in Psalms 7:10-17; 144:1-8; Zechariah 9:14.

In scripture a bolt of lightning represents the punishment of God while the arrow represents defense an protection of God.
