Why would it or better yet how could it? Our DNA never changes.

Paul gives directions regarding the Lord’s Supper in 1Corinthians 11:23-29. Some have misunderstood verse 26, which says: "As often as ye eat this bread and drink this cup," and interpret it to say "take it as often as you please" But it does not say that!

It says "as often" as we observe it, "ye do show the LORD’S DEATH till He come." And Jesus commanded, "This do ye, as oft as ye drink it, in remembrance of me." (Verse 25.) We do it in remembrance of THE LORD’S DEATH - a memorial of His death. And memorials of momentous occasions always are observed annually, once a year, on the ANNIVERSARY of the event they commemorate.

How would it or could it? By the power of the spoken word. (and Jesus told them and us to do it). ...and, "As often as ye eat this bread and drink this cup,"...doesn't exactly say to limit our partaking of Communion to once per year.

Sanctification and purification is a drawn out process and takes time. As far as I know, there is no scripture which prohibits our taking Communion privately in our homes or even daily. Ritz crackers work great and any wine will do. There may be a big benefit to taking Communion that many do not realize, that it is in fact. more significant than we have realized.

I don't think that Communion is symbolic in the least. Before we receive it, we give thanks and bless it, and declare, this is the Body of Christ, this is the blood of Christ...and...no one really knows what effect this may have in the unseen spiritual realm or to us here on earth. All we know is that, life and death is in the power of the tongue, we are seated in Heavenly places with Him, and it was HE that created everything with a word...then must have thought that for us to take Communion was important enough to tell us in His book to us...

So, why? I think because it is part of the sanctification process and very seriously helps in that process. It's main effect is within the spiritual realm that we do not see, but Communion is in no way symbolic because of our spoken word before partaking of it. We do do it in remembrance of Him and His sacrifice for us, but there is more to it. It must help.

Our God is a nice guy so did not require for us to actually eat bloody flesh in the natural realm so makes the change from bread and wine to flesh and blood in the spiritual realm when we give thanks and bless the bread and wine.

i've kind of wondered...OK, in The Gospels, when Jesus healed the disabled, the blind, etc...did -their- DNA change? when miracles or at least...intense divine intervention...occur these days...

does the DNA change, then?

not that God relies solely upon what's in our bodies to achieve His purpose. I saw an article...this 5 year old, his dad threw him off a balcony or something, most ridiculous situation I've heard of in a while...and he sustained massive head injuries. and yet...

in day to day life, he's not showing any -signs- of brain damage...but I'm guessing the CAT scan or whatever is probably showing some damage. so...that's kind of interesting, on a number of levels (and great new for the boy and his family, of course).

Epigenetics (people changing their DNA through behaviors) is a hot field of study.

Because some genes can become active or inactive depending upon how you environmentally treat your body. And the environment can be anything from romantic relationships to foods to toxins to "healthy" things.
The research scientists are currently trying to understand the triggers of the genes because understanding these triggers are a leg up on understanding why some people get cancers and others don't.

So...
Where regular, active participation in the observance of the Lord's Supper may change your DNA...it also may not. Nobody knows yet.

I see the bread and the wine being symbolic and not literally eating His flesh or drinking His blood, but that it represents His flesh that was bruised for our iniquity and His blood that washes us clean from our iniquity through the sacrifice He made for all who will believe in Him.

Jesus said do this in remembrance of me that as often as we take of it, which is not limited to how often we take, but that we do this in remembrance of that day of His crucifixion where all our sin was nailed to the cross.

Before we partake of His sufferings we need to pray and examine ourselves that we are worthy, meaning we need to repent of any sin in our life and ask forgiveness before we take of His communion.

1 Corinthians 11:29 For he that eateth and drinketh unworthily, eateth and drinketh damnation to himself, not discerning the Lord's body. 30 For this cause many are weak and sickly among you, and many sleep. 31 For if we would judge ourselves, we should not be judged.
