The first known attempt at creating genetically modified human embryos in the United States has been carried out by a team of researchers in Portland, Oregon, MIT Technology Review has learned.

The effort, led by Shoukhrat Mitalipov of Oregon Health and Science University, involved changing the DNA of a large number of one-cell embryos with the gene-editing technique CRISPR, according to people familiar with the scientific results.

Until now, American scientists have watched with a combination of awe, envy, and some alarm as scientists elsewhere were first to explore the controversial practice. To date, three previous reports of editing human embryos were all published by scientists in China.

Now Mitalipov is believed to have broken new ground both in the number of embryos experimented upon and by demonstrating that it is possible to safely and efficiently correct defective genes that cause inherited diseases.

As it was in the days of Noah, so shall it be in the day of the coming of the Son of Man. Be perfect in your generations as Noah was. There's nothing to be gained from modifying God's creation, and a whole lot to lose. These people who receive these modifications will not be able to be saved is how I understand it. Revelation 9:6 says people will long for death and not be able to find it...

This is what they're doing. Trying to eliminate disease and prolong lives. This may sound attractive at first but it is against God's creation and will. I believe they will have a certain amount of success (Rev 9:6) but this is the spirit of anti-Christ so don't be deceived into thinking it is a good thing.

It is said that the mark of the beast must be taken willingly. I wonder if this is how they will sell it to the people? If you walk in and ask for it and even pay for it...what excuse would you have on the day of the Lord? Too dangerous IMO.

You can donate adult stem cells and we'll if it's a marrow that it grew into ,well the original dna is in your body of the donor. Certain cells have dna produced by the marrow. Blood cells are made from other cells,usually white blood cells.

You do realize organ donation is disqualified In you argument. The organ doesn't loose its dna aND its mitochondria. When it replaces it's cells it's the donors dna.just saying.

We may be talking about two different things here. They are specifically trying to rewrite DNA so the disease isn't in there. Having an organ donated may not be the same thing. Doctors can do a lot of good...but there's a limit to what they should be doing.

Editing isn't creation but splicing out the bad,and correcting. We can't make up genes in a lab.we can splice a gene into another.

During the 1950s, Stalin toyed with the idea of having scientists try to breed a race of super soldiers immune to fear and pain, with extraordinary physical abilities. It was impossible at the time. Maybe not now.

I am a free market person but this is certainly a place where government regulation....effective regulation with stringent oversight and consequences for failure to follow should be employed. We can't unlearn what we have learned to do but we certainly can enforce standards upon it.......and I emphasize the word standards. Gene splicing ? No but as barb pointed out with gmo we bred slaves .certain traits were bred into slaves. We did the same with dogs,certain races have disposition to sickle cell trait,and sickle cell anemia.

If it's a gene from your own body and we have done this with stem cells as we can store them for years ,it's not modufication.you simply trigger the.stem cell to grow where it's needed.a stem cell has your dna but isn't shaped to function as just one cell.

I know of persons who had minor knee repairs by this method.

Stem cells are used to transplant marrow.no surgery is used to cut and remove ,only a needle to extract and to insert into the patient along with blood plasma

Cancer was a death sentence, diseases we have either eradicated or controlled now ran rampant, and surgeries and treatments have improved greatly. Procedures that would have people laid up for a week or more are no outpatient practices, and many debilitating problems can be aided or solved through basic medication. The way the government treats it's people. Lying to us, stealing our money, hiding cures for diseases so they can make more money off of us as we die. I've several times where people have copme up with absolute cures for cancer, and they supress it. Water powered cars, free energy, all that stuff is available with technology but the oil companies have to keep us enslaved so they can get rich...the list goes on.

I guess you guys trust the government more than I do. In the book of Daniel, an Angel comes to Daniel when he's been fasting for 21 days...and tells him that he got held up by the Prince of Persia (or something like that), which is an evil spirit (Daniel 10:13)

We fight against principalities and powers, evil spirits and such. So this prince of the power of persia was an evil spirit which (probably ran persia through it's leaders...) tried to stop the Angel from delivering a message to Daniel...Right? The kings and leaders got help from the evil ones and this has prolly always been. Well that's the same sort of thing that we hear about our leaders, being satanists, holding rituals at bohemian grove and all like that...
So what makes you think that the United States doesn't have a "prince of the power of the United States"

It would explain why our country continues to go down the tubes no matter who gets voted (ha!) into office. How they've systematically degraded the nations values & morals, the family unit, all that. They've been working on it since this nation began. It seems obvious that they are helping our leaders to destroy our country.
From what the tin foil hatters have been saying for a long time is that the "aliens" (demons & evil spirits) have been trading technology to the world leaders for permissions.

So yeah, we can't trust them at all. Any modifications to the human bodies are bound to be demonic in nature and evil at their core, and heading us towards the mark of the beast. Their biggest tool is deception and they're good at it. I'd take their new pretty little packages with much skepticism just in case.

I heard about this back in the 90's. You see, treating cancer is a multi billion dollar industry. If a cure was to get out then it would destroy their industry. The way it is now, cancer is a death sentence for the most part, and their treatments may prolong life, and this is good for them because they can make more money on us on our way out.

Now I'm no doctor or scientist so can't say if it works or how or anything. What I do know is that their chief tool against us is deception, misinformation and ignorance. So they can't be trusted, and it seems likely that someone could (or has) come up with a cure for cancer (like is said) and they are suppressing it. Not positive, but I think the guy who came up with it committed suicide by shooting himself in the back of the head six times. It seems likely that they would suppress it just for the money. Follow the money.
