Hello everyone! I guess since I'm a new member, it is only right for me to introduce myself, and hopefully make new friends through Jesus Christ our Savior. I am 18, formally atheist. I decided to give Jesus a shot. I read the Holy Bible, and was amazed at the power that it had over me. I felt like a presence of peace was flowing throughout my body, and i have never been happier since. I gave my life to Jesus Christ my Lord and Savior. Now life makes perfect sense. I battle with depression, and many other things. But all of that has changed now that I am saved my Christ. I never understood the meaning of "born again", until i was actually born again! Because that is exactly what it feels like. So I started at the New Testament at Matthew, and now i am at 1 Thessalonians. It has been just a few weeks since i went from Matthew to where i am at now, and in only these few weeks my life has transformed, and i can't seem to stop reading God's Word. I use NKJV, since i could not understand the KJV. But I'm hoping to make new friends through Christ, new friends that can help me along my journey of following in His footsteps, and anyone who can help give any advice to me when needed, and i will do the same for you! (: Thank you for anyone who is reading this, thanks to anyone who will reply, and God bless you all for your kindness. I pray that whatever struggles i go through, i will find help from you fellow Christians! In Jesus name. Amen. :biggrin

Thank you questdriven! (: Feels good to be here. Feel like a completely new person with Christ. Thanks for the reply, and any tips on anything to do with this forum would be gladly appreciated, since this is also my first forum experience.

The FAQs would probably be helpful if you wish to know how a forum works and what features there are, though they're about vBulliten forums in general and not just this one. It should be listed among the links at the top of the page.

Welcome :)

Random question. Have you told other atheists that you were an atheist before you were a Christian and did they believe you?

Hey grazer thanks! and thanks to Classik as well, I'll have to check that out ;)
Back to Grazer. I have a few atheist friends, they knew i was an atheist as well, and they now know i am a Christian. They think now though that maybe i was agnostic, rather than atheist at the time, but I don't get into different terms for people who don't have any certain religion. They do respect I am a Christian now though, but they have said I have already changed a lot. But I've changed for the better that's for sure! No more getting drunk! No more intentional sinning. But they do respect that. So I'm thankful i have friends that accept that, and a God who is forgiving, and also parents who are forgiving, because they knew I were an atheist at the time as well. They never went to church, but read the Bible at home. But they have accepted me in with open arms too! :biggrin And i felt no pressure whatsoever to be a Christian. Totally my choice, and it's been the best choice I've ever made! (:

Question to anyone.... Since I'm new to the Christian life, and I've never been to church, or my family really hasn't taught me much about it, I have had to spend A LOT of time learning about things on my own. And being a new Christian, it is still new to me, because it is a new way of life. I still haven't completely transformed yet into the common "great Christian guy" i guess you could say. By that I mean i still ACCIDENTALLY slip up and curse a few times a day, just out of old sinful habits. And i still find myself getting angry at people sometimes and raising my voice, yelling at them, and then i look back and think wow...Jesus would not have done that...since I'm trying to follow in his footsteps to ensure my eternal life with Christ. So my questions (Sorry, more than one) are If you become a new Christian, is this normal to have old habitual slip ups still? Because it makes me feel guilty. And it's never purposely done. It just comes out, like a bad habit i once had. I guess it's like a smoker trying to quit smoking. I had a pretty bad mouth to say the least, I've really worked on controlling it, but I slip up EVERY day still. I feel guilty. I confess my sins. And I still feel bad. How do i know if my sins are forgiven when i don't feel forgiven? And can sins keep on being forgiven every day if you aren't INTENTIONALLY trying to sin, but still slip up accidentally? Any answers or advice would help! Thanks!

TJ, not one of us is without sin. Anybody who says they don't sin is kidding themselves. As for "slipping up" into old habits. So do I. It is very hard to overcome a lifetimes worth of cursing. (especially with the drivers here:tongue
You said yourself it is unintentional. There is a big difference between breaking God's laws on purpose and slipping back to your old life. I'll tell you right now, it DOES get easier, with prayed and by Reading His word everyday. Remember, He knows you are trying to please Him and to overcome a lifetime of swearing and sinful behaviour. He loves you and want's whats best for you and has eternal patience. Just keep fighting the good fight through prayer and meditating on His word.
You might like to try this. Every morning when I wake up,after my prayer of thanks, I breathe in very slowly and deeply. (your chest AND stomach should rise) when you are completely full of air, slowly breathe out until there is no air left. 1 breath cycle should take about 30 seconds. Repeat it 10 times. (5 minutes) As you control your breathing, focus on ways to please God or on the sin you are determined to beat that day. I'm not going to lie and say it works every day,but after doing that in the morning,if something that would spark me in the old days happen, I'm less likely to react in a sinful way.
I hope this helps TJ
God bless you and your loved ones.

PS: By the way, I'm an Aussie ex oil rig worker and fisherman and we use swear words as punctuation marks,so if I can do it anyone can.:biggrin
