what are we going to do with Easter? sunday is 2 days away .we will hold our special Easter services , the week before most churches have had Communion . as oft as ye do this do it in remembrance of me... if not careful we will treat it like Christmas put the decorations up till next year .Christmas and Easter should be observed every day in our hearts. had it not been for His birth there would be no savior . had it not been for the cross there would have been no payment for our sins.. had there not been the resurrection there would be no eternal life.
1 Corinthians 5:7-8 King James Version (KJV)
7 Purge out therefore the old leaven, that ye may be a new lump, as ye are unleavened. For even Christ our passover is sacrificed for us:

8 Therefore let us keep the feast, not with old leaven, neither with the leaven of malice and wickedness; but with the unleavened bread of sincerity and truth.
the remembrance should be every day

Hebrews 13:8 Jesus Christ the same yesterday, and to day, and for ever.

Paul gives directions regarding the Lord’s Supper in 1Corinthians 11:23-29. Some have misunderstood verse 26, which says: "As often as ye eat this bread and drink this cup," and interpret it to say "take it as often as you please" But it does not say that!

It says "as often" as we observe it, "ye do show the LORD’S DEATH till He come." And Jesus commanded, "This do ye, as oft as ye drink it, in remembrance of me." (Verse 25.) We do it in remembrance of THE LORD’S DEATH - a memorial of His death. And memorials of momentous occasions always are observed annually, once a year, on the ANNIVERSARY of the event they commemorate.

Jesus instituted this New Testament ordinance ON THE EVE OF HIS DEATH. It was the 14th Abib, March/April Hebrew Lunar calendar. He was our Passover, sacrificed for us and He was sacrificed on the same exact day of the year that the Passover lambs always had been slain! As the Old Testament Passover commemorated Israel’s deliverance from Egypt, a type of sin, so the New Testament Lord’s Supper is a continuation of the Passover with different emblems commemorates Jesus' death, and our deliverance from sin. Immediately after the last Supper, Jesus and His disciples went out to Gethsemane, where, later that night, Judas Iscariot led the bloodthirsty mob who seized Jesus, and led him away to be crucified during the daylight part of the same 14th day of the month of Abib.

:pray Praise you Jesus from all blessings flow. Praise Father, Son and Holy Ghost, amen.

28 But let a man examine himself, and so let him eat of that bread, and drink of that cup.

29 For he that eateth and drinketh unworthily, eateth and drinketh damnation to himself, not discerning the Lord's body.

30 For this cause many are weak and sickly among you, and many sleep.

31 For if we would judge ourselves, we should not be judged.

32 But when we are judged, we are chastened of the Lord, that we should not be condemned with the world.

33 Wherefore, my brethren, when ye come together to eat, tarry one for another.

34 And if any man hunger, let him eat at home; that ye come not together unto condemnation. And the rest will I set in order when I come.

a pastor buddy of mine used this scripture sunday . a woman spoke up very concerned on the damnation to himself, not discerning the Lord's body. talk about Holy Ghost conviction . so often we fail at times to take the seriousness of the Lords Supper .the kids we take to Church the oldest was asking questions we would not allow them. 1. they dont understand 2. not saved.. she asked me after as i was putting the cups up after serving how old you had to be..i told her you had be saved.. monday i explained to her about being saved. told her she would know. God has been speaking she just needs understand

Preparation day, the day before the Passover, John 19:14
The four gospels agree, the Lord was laid in the sepulchre on the preparation day, which was Nisan 14, immediately before the "High Sabbath", Nisan 15.
Matt.27:62, Mark 15:42 Luke 23:54 and John 19:31,42

Therefore He was crucified on Wed, 14 Nisan.
3 days and 3 nights...

The trials continued throughout our Tues. Night
Matt.26:57-27:31,Mark 14:53-15:19,Luke22:54-23:25, John 18:12-19:13

About the 6th hour, our Tuesday midnight, Pilate said, "Behold your king" John 19:14,15

It was the 3rd hour, and they crucified Him, our 9am Wed. Mark 15:25,26

The 6th hour, our Wed.noon, and the darkness, Matt.27:45-49,Mark 15:33, Luke 23:44,45

The 9th hour, our Wed.3pm, and the expiring cry,
Matt.27:50, Mark 15:34-37,Luke 23:46 John 19:28-30

Buried in haste before sunset, our Wed.6pm, before the "High Sabbath", the first day of the feast began, our Wed.sunset..Matt.27:57-66, Mark 15:42-47, Luke 23:50-56,John 19:38-42

Thus, the Resurrection of the Lord took place at our Sat.sunset or there abouts "the 3rd day".

The Lord was crucified on our Wed. Was buried on that day before sunset, and remained "3 days and 3 nights" in the tomb, as foretold by Him in Matt.12:40, rising from the dead, on the 3rd day, the first day of the week.

Regardless, Passover is already over, usually 15 days after the Spring Equinox is when it begins.

Just thankful, that He died for us...
Which should be everyday.
He became our Passover Lamb..

How was it that Jesus rose from the dead on the first day of the week, which is Sunday morning, not the Sabbath.

Then he took it down, wrapped it in linen, and laid it in a tomb that was hewn out of the rock, where no one had ever lain before. That day was the Preparation, and the Sabbath drew near. And the women who had come with Him from Galilee followed after, and they observed the tomb and how His body was laid. Then they returned and prepared spices and fragrant oils. And they rested on the Sabbath according to the commandment.
Now on the first day of the week, very early in the morning, they, and certain other women with them, came to the tomb bringing the spices which they had prepared. Luke 23:53-24:1

He died on Friday, was in the tomb all day Saturday and rose on the first day of the week, that is Sunday.
count them. There are three days. it does not say he was dead for all of the third day, only that he rose on the third day.
As many buisness will charge for a whole day including part of a day, so return a hire car first thing in the morning and you pay for that days hire. In the same way Jesus is counted as being dead for Sunday even though he rose very early in the morning.

I couldn’t agree more. :amen

What I disagree with is, He was crucified on Wednesday and rose on Saturday morning the Sabbath.

People claim this because of the passages that say “three days and three nights”.

The Sabbath is Saturday.

How was it that Jesus rose from the dead on the first day of the week, which is Sunday morning, not the Sabbath.
The answer is quite simple. The end of the Sabbath (sunset) is also the beginning of the first day of the week (immediately after). So Sunday morning actually began right after sunset. However, it is more than likely that Christ arose after midnight and before dawn on the first day of the week. But in order to fulfil the Feast of First Fruits, Christ rose on "the morrow after the Sabbath".

Communion has become more a tradition taken to lightly. The Pastor reads the scripture, the congregation takes the bread and wine (usually grape juice) and maybe there is a little prayer and then all is soon forgotten. Not to many put any emphasis on taking communion unworthily and does cause damnation in many.

this is the importance there will always be questions.. like what was he doing the 3 days in the tomb? personally i believe he was presenting the Blood sacrifice to the heavenly father .
The Resurrection of the Dead
12 But if it is preached that Christ has been raised from the dead, how can some of you say that there is no resurrection of the dead? 13 If there is no resurrection of the dead, then not even Christ has been raised.14 And if Christ has not been raised, our preaching is useless and so is your faith. 15 More than that, we are then found to be false witnesses about God, for we have testified about God that he raised Christ from the dead. But he did not raise him if in fact the dead are not raised.16 For if the dead are not raised, then Christ has not been raised either.17 And if Christ has not been raised, your faith is futile; you are still in your sins. 18 Then those also who have fallen asleep in Christ are lost.19 If only for this life we have hope in Christ, we are of all people most to be pitied.

and that is my belief also it becomes more of CEREMONY than a celebration/memorial what he done for us .everything done in church should be done under the anointing. i went to a Gospel singing to hear kevin spencer at a bro of mine church.. there was a man and wife sing a special when i get carried away.. i watched him turn on the Charm of impression .

Yes, He rose on Sunday morning after Saturday night.

It actually should be called Good Thursday.

Matthew 12:40 For as Jonas was three days and three nights in the whale's belly; so shall the Son of man be three days and three nights in the heart of the earth.

Luke 24:1 Now upon the first day of the week, very early in the morning, they came unto the sepulchre, bringing the spices which they had prepared, and certain others with them. 2 And they found the stone rolled away from the sepulchre. 3 And they entered in, and found not the body of the Lord Jesus.

Matthew 27:45 Now from the sixth hour there was darkness over all the land unto the ninth hour. 46 And about the ninth hour Jesus cried with a loud voice, saying, Eli, Eli, lama sabachthani? that is to say, My God, my God, why hast thou forsaken me? 47 Some of them that stood there, when they heard that, said, This man calleth for Elias. 48 And straightway one of them ran, and took a sponge, and filled it with vinegar, and put it on a reed, and gave him to drink. 49 The rest said, Let be, let us see whether Elias will come to save him. 50 Jesus, when he had cried again with a loud voice, yielded up the ghost.

Three days and three nights and Jesus being raised early on the first day of the week being Sunday at sunrise would mean Jesus had to be crucified on a Thursday according to our calendar. The first day would be Thursday to Thursday night at sunset (1 day, 1 night) to Friday sunrise to sunset (two days, 2 nights) Saturday from sunrise to sunset (3 days 3 nights). Sabbath day being from Friday at sunset to Saturday sunset and Christ being raised early on Sunday at sunrise being the first day of the week shows it had to be a Thursday around the 9th hour when Jesus died.

Thursday at the 3rd hour according to Jewish tradition noon time (12 PM) was the 6th hour of the day as the break of dawn would be the 1st hour of the day. So Thursday morning sometime before the 6th hour Jesus was nailed to the cross. From the 6th hour to the 9th hour (three hours 12 PM to 3 PM) there was darkness over the land where Jesus hung on the cross. Around the 9th hour Jesus yielded up the ghost and died.

From the day being late Thursday afternoon (first day, first night) brings us through to Sunday at sunrise being three days and three nights with Christ being raised from the grave early Sunday morning.

The Passover meal was eaten the night before, as the Passover began the previous evening.

So Jesus kept the Passover meal with His disciples on the night before He would be crucified.

That would have been Thursday night when the Passover began.

The Passover began on Thursday evening.

He was crucified on Friday, which included Thursday night since Friday began Thursday evening.

He was laid in the tomb Friday before the Sabbath.

He rose on the third day, being the first day of the week.

By what you say here would mean Jesus would have been risen from the grave early Monday morning. Three days and three nights beginning on a Friday would make it Monday morning, not Sunday morning. You can't get three days and three nights from Friday to Sunday sunrise.

The Jewish Luna Calendar begins with the new moon being Abid/Nisan - March - April.

On the 15th day of the month of Nisan (April) would make it a Saturday before sunrise. Friday at sunset begins the Passover of Unleavened Bread that last for seven days before the High Sabbath. According to Exodus 12:14-16 on the 13th day one had to remove the leaven (yeast) from their house for the week ahead as well as preparing food for the Passover of Unleavened Bread and the High Sabbath day before sunset which began Passover.

Now according to scripture we know Jesus was raised from the tomb on the first day of the week early in the morning around sunrise for the seven days of Unleavened Bread would have ended at sunrise. This festival of the Passover of Leavened Bread lasted seven days making it a Wednesday that Jesus celebrated with His disciples. That evening of Wednesday Judas betrayed Him and Jesus was arrested, faced trial and nailed to the cross sometime Thursday morning. At the ninth hour of Thursday Jesus gave up the ghost, died and placed in a tomb. From Thursday to Sunday at sunrise would make three days and three nights.

Do you believe Jesus rose on the Third day?

Of the statements below, could you please indicate the one you disagree with?

  • So Jesus kept the Passover meal with His disciples on the night before He would be crucified.

  • He was crucified on Friday, which included Thursday night since Friday began Thursday evening.

  • He rose on the third day, being the first day of the week.
