Being a communication major, one thing I always enjoy is taking the opportunity to teach. Whether it’s a devotional thought for my sorority or a lesson for children’s worship at church on Sunday, I value the chances I have to teach. One tool that I was lucky enough to find that has made things easier is iLumina’s new Parent/Teacher edition. I first started using the iLumina Gold software last spring and, I loved it. I attend a private Christian university and iLumina has been a great asset in my daily bible classes. Recently, the company expanded their software to include an edition especially for teachers and parents.

As with the original iLumina Gold, the parents and teachers edition offers a full copy of the Bible, a visual Christian encyclopedia, an extensive time line chronicling important dates from Bible times through the present, and a media center that displays stunning digital animations. Plus, special features include a study center that allows teachers to search iLumina’s database for information, display that information, and then export the gathered material for a document or presentation.

The only shortcoming I have found in using this software is the absence of any type of computer game. Children are so interested in gaming that I think the software would be even stronger if games were included for kids. Understandably, this resource is for parents and teachers. I would though be excited to see a companion version of the software for kids that included games.

I would be pleased to highly recommend iLumina’s Parent/Teacher edition to anyone looking to spice up devotionals, Sunday school lessons and presentations. As with the Gold edition, the Parent/Teacher edition is fantastic.
