Happy Valentine's Day to all members.

Take a minute to see the history of it if you can.

Happy Valentine's Day to you too Pops! :hug I must admit that due to the current circumstances it hasn't been my favorite holiday for the past few years, but I am going to post why that's sort of changed for me recently before I go eat breakfast, and on the upside,.. I'm going to go see my fiancée tomorrow which is a day after Valentine's Day and only just a few days before my birthday! :wootOh and btw, I'm just wondering something. Is it Valentine's Day or Valentines? :thinking

Good question HeIsRisen201. Now I am not sure just how to write it but here goes anyway:

Happy Valentine's Day to all! ( I am thinking that since we write St. Patrick's Day we should do the same for St. Valentine.:cool2

This day is a little bitter sweet for me as it brings back memories of when my late husband and I had only been engaged a few months and on that day (in 1961) he had a friend who was a fellow student of his at the community college bake me a very special Valentine's Day cake. We were married the following July and stayed together through thick and thin for 56 years. I feel just a bit sad whenever this day arrives; but this year I am getting better. The greatest Valentine giver of all is really the Lord and He does watch over all of us widows. Still I miss my special guy! Always will until we meet again. Cherish the day!

That spelling and reasoning makes sense to me. :) You know I'm a very good speller but sometimes things like that confuse me. I guess when you actually talk about giving Valentines to somebody that's when you minus the apostrophe. Anyways I a hundred percent agree with you btw, and that's why I wrote my own Valentine's Day thing for today. :biggrin2

Happy Valentine's Day to you sir and everyone else.
Sadly I'm dining alone this evening; well, I say alone, however Jesus will be with me. I hope He likes takeaway food! :chin
I've never though to research the history of this well-known day, however I will have a look at the information provided by the link which JohnDB has kindly included in a preceding post.

St. Valentine's skull (why they do that to dead saints is beyond me) is the gross part.
The "Pneumetos Xristos" on top of his box is a classic though.
That's the "P &X" in gold.... standing for "in the Spirit of Christ"

I forgot to mention that I was speaking of the beheading part,.. (I looked it up on my own because the Wikipedia version was way too complicated for me to read and understand.) let me guess though, his skull is in some museum somewhere right?

Happy Valentine's Day.

Might take myself out fishing later then cook myself dinner. :)

I used to fish all the time back when I was a kid. I didn't eat them back then though I just threw them back. Which is probably just as well because who actually wants to go through the process of cleaning them out. :erm

Well if you are one of those people who even the carton of milk has a date on Valentine's Day but you don't...
You still are loved around here...

So are you. You just want to be everybody's friend and I think that you pretty much are. :hug You're just one of the best and nicest staff members that I ever met. All the staff around here is awesome for the most part. :thumbsup

Hubby and I usually by-pass this day, but he surprised me with flowers and two lottery scratchers and I won 6 dollars. We don't need a special day to say I love you as we say that everyday for the past 21 years.
I know how that feels.
My first wife and I had that going on.
This wife however, I'm taking no chances whatsoever. I celebrate even if she doesn't.
I want there to be no doubt whatsoever that I am madly in love with her.

There should never be any doubt as love needs to be displayed everyday, not with gifts all the time, but always being there for each other and also neither should ever go to bed angry after an argument.

There aren't gifts all the time...we can't afford that kind of thing. And we really aren't into "stuff".
But new clothes (especially dresses) at Easter, gifts at Valentine's, Christmas, birthdays, and anniversaries are kinda a prerequisite for normal life.

My wife is going to groan and whine about getting a new dress this year...but I'm going to be firm about her getting one.

I'll get a bag of candy and shirt and tie..
Maybe some new slacks.

(Easter is coming and on my mind)
