I would like to post a biblical study on the famous Olivet Discourse by harmonizing all 3 Gospels that contain it.

Most Bible theologians I know of agree that Jesus is speaking about the future destruction of the Temple, Sanctuary and Jerusalem in 70ad, but that is a discussion for another thread.

All 3 mention the Temple and stone upon stone being demolished [Luke 19:44 gives more detail concerning the destruction].
Matt and Mark mention the buildings
Mark and Luke mention the manner of stones

Isaiah 61:2
[Luke 4:19]
To call Year of good pleasure of Yahweh,
And a Day of Vengeance of our Elohim, To comfort all mourners

Matthew 24:1
And Jesus coming out, departed from the Temple.
And His Disciples approached Him to show to Him the buildings of the Temple.
2 And Jesus said to them, “ are ye not seeing all these?
Amen I am saying to ye,
not no may be being left here stone upon stone, which not shall be being thrown-down.”

Mark 13:1
And He going forth out of the Temple, one of His Disciples is saying to Him “Teacher! behold!
what manner of stones and what manner of buildings

2 And Jesus answering said to him, “thou are beholding these, the great buildings?
Not no may be being left here stone upon stone which not no may be being thrown-down

Luke 21
5 and of some saying concerning the Temple,
that to goodly stones and votive-offerings<334> it has been adorned<2885>
6 “These which ye are beholding.
Shall be coming days in which not shall be being left stone upon stone here which not shall be being thrown-down

Luke 19:44
And shall be leveling Thee, and Thy children within Thee;
and they shall not leave stone upon stone in Thee;
because Thou knewest not the time of the visitation of Thee.

Let's look at the word "Temple", G2411.
One thing I found curious is that this particular interesting is this Greek word is never used once in the Book of Revelation.

Strong's Number G2411 matches the Greek ἱερόν (hieron),
which occurs 71 times in 67 verses

STRONGS NT 2411: ἱερόν
ἱερόν, -οῦ, τό, (neuter of the adjective ἱερός, -ά, -όν; cf. τὸ ἅγιον), [from Herodotus on], a sacred place, temple: of the temple of Artemis at Ephesus, Acts 19:27; of the temple at Jerusalem twice in the Sept., Ezekiel 45:19; 1 Chronicles 29:4; more frequent in the O. T. Apocrypha; in the N. T. often in the Gospels and Acts; once elsewhere, viz. 1 Corinthians 9:13.
τὸ ἱερόν and ὁ ναός differ, in that the former designates the whole compass of the sacred enclosure, embracing the entire aggregate of buildings, balconies, porticos, courts (viz., that of the men or Israelites, that of the women, that of the priests), belonging to the temple; the latter designates the sacred edifice properly so called, consisting of two parts......

One can google seach "pics of Herod's Temple"

I would like to discuss the "stones" in the next post.
Any comments?

As I mentioned earlier, the Greek word #2411 is never used once in Revelation, tho most Bible versions us "Temple". [YLT does correctly render those words correctly]

Rather the Greek word #3485 is used, which designated the Sanctuary inside the Temple..
1st and last time #3485 used in Revelation:
Rev 3:12 He who is overcoming -- I will make him a pillar in the sanctuary of my God, and without he may not go any more, and I will write upon him the name of my God, and the name of the city of my God, the new Jerusalem, that doth come down out of the heaven from my God -- also my new name.

Rev 21:22 And a sanctuary I did not see in it, for the Lord God, the Almighty, is its sanctuary, and the Lamb,
=========================
Matthew 24:1
And Jesus coming out, departed from the Temple.
Mark 13:1
And He going forth out of the Temple, one of His Disciples is saying to Him “Teacher! behold!
Luke 21
5 and of some saying concerning the Temple,

=========================================
1 st verses it is used in the Gosples.
YLT]
Mat 4:5 Then doth the Devil take him to the holy city, and doth set him on the pinnacle of the temple,

Mar 11:11 And Jesus entered into Jerusalem, and into the temple, and having looked round on all things, it being now evening, he went forth to Bethany with the twelve.

Luk 2:27 And he came in the Spirit to the temple, and in the parents bringing in the child Jesus, for their doing according to the custom of the law regarding him

Jhn 2:14 and he found in the temple those selling oxen, and sheep, and doves, and the money-changers sitting,
================
It is used only in the book of Acts and 1 verse of Pauls' Epistle

1st verse in Acts:
Act 2:46
Daily also continuing with one accord in the temple, breaking also at every house bread, they were partaking of food in gladness and simplicity of heart,

Last verse in Acts:
Act 26:21
because of these things the Judeans -- having caught me in the temple -- were endeavouring to kill me.

Last time used in the NT:
1Co 9:13 Have ye not known that those working about the things of the temple -- of the temple do eat, and those waiting at the altar -- with the altar are partakers?

All 3 passages ask the same 2 questions:

What the sign and when shall these be.
I will explore these verses more in depth in the following posts.
Comments?

Matthew 24:3
Yet of Him sitting on the Mount of the Olives, the Disciples came toward to Him according to own saying "be telling! to us,
when? shall these be,
and what? the sign<4592> of Thy parousia<3952> and together-finish<4930> of the age.

I would like to focus on this particular Greek word G2952.
I it used 24 times in the NT, only 4 times in the Gospels, all in Matt 24

Matthew 24:3Yet of Him sitting on the Mount of the Olives, the Disciples came toward to Him according to own saying "be telling! to us,
when? shall these be,

whenever may be being about<3195> these.

Luke 21
7 Yet they inquire<1905> of Him, saying, “Teacher!
when? then shall these be
And what? the sign<4592> whenever may be being about<3195> these to becoming<1096>?

This link can show where exact forms of Greek words are used in other verses. There are 4 different forms of the word.

This particular form used in Matt 24:3 is used 1 time in the Gospels, and 4 times in the Epistles.

Strong's Number G3952 matches the Greek παρουσία(parousia),occurs 24 times in 24 verses

παρουσία — 6x
παρουσίᾳ — 9x
παρουσίαν — 3x
παρουσίας — 6x

παρουσία/parousiaV<3952> — 6x

A few commentaries on G3952

EXEGETICAL (ORIGINAL LANGUAGES)

Expositor's Greek Testament
The main subject of interrogation is the predicted ruin: when will it happen, and how shall it be known when it is at hand, so as to be prepared for it? Cf. Mk. and Lk., where this alone is the subject of question.—παρουσία (literally presence, second presence) and συντέλεια τοῦ αἰῶνος are the technical terms of the apostolic age, for the second advent of Christ and the close of the present order of things, and they occur in Mt. only, so far as the Gospels are concerned. Do not the ideas also belong to that age, and are not the questions here put into the mouth of the Twelve too advanced for disciples?....................

Cambridge Bible for Schools and Colleges
3. when shall these things be? and what shall be the sign of thy coming] The twofold question points to the nearer and the more distant event. See note at beginning of chapter.

thy coming] Rather, thy presence (parousia). The precise word “coming,” or “advent,” which the Church has adopted in reference to the second “presence” of Christ, does not occur in this prophecy.
====================
Pulpit Commentary

Sign of thy coming (τῆς σῆς παρουσίας), and of the end of the world (συντελείας τοῦ αἰῶνος). They look upon these two events as synchronous, or very closely connected.
The word parousia, which in classical Greek means "presence," or "arrival," is used in the New Testament specially for the second advent of Christ to set up his eternal kingdom in full power and glory (see in this chapter vers. 27, 37, 39; and comp. 1 Corinthians 15:23; 1 Thessalonians 2:19; 1 Thessalonians 3:13, etc.). Referring to the same event, we find in some places the term "epiphany" used (see 1 Timothy 6:14; 2 Timothy 4:1), and in others "revelation" (ἀποκάλυψις, 1 Corinthians 1:7; 2 Thessalonians 1:7); but the three expressions denote simply the open establishment of Messiah's kingdom, indefnitely as to time and manner. The phrase translated "the end of the world "means literally the consummation of the age (cf. Matthew 13:39; Hebrews 9:26); consummationis saeculi (Vulgate); i.e. the close of this present seen, in contradistinction from the future aeon, or the world to come. This is "the last time," "the last days," spoken of elsewhere (see 1 Peter 1:5; 1 John 2:18; and comp. Isaiah 2:2; Micah 4:1).
=======================
Vincent's Word Studies

Coming (παρουσίας)
Originally, presence, from παρεῖναι, to be present. In this sense in Philippians 2:12; 2 Corinthians 10:10. Also arrival, as in 1 Corinthians 16:17; 2 Corinthians 7:6, 2 Corinthians 7:7; 2 Thessalonians 2:9; 2 Peter 3:12. Of the second coming of Christ: James 5:8; 1 John 2:28; 2 Peter 3:4; 1 Thessalonians 4:15.

Of the world (αἰῶνος)

Rather the existing, current age. They do not ask the signs of the Messiah's coming at the end of all time, to judge the world.

And finally, the Grk word G4930

Matthew 24:3 and what? the sign<4592> of Thy parousia<3952> and together-finish/consummation<4930> of the age.

Mark 13:4 ...........and what? the sign<4592> whenever may be being about<3195> these.

Luke 21:7 ............And what? the sign<4592> whenever may be being about<3195> these to becoming<1096>
===============================
Matthew 24:3 .......and together-finish/consummation<4930> of the age.

Strong's Number G4930 matches the Greek συντέλεια (synteleia) occurs 6 times in 6 verses.

This particular Greek word is used on in Matthew and Hebrews. Hebrew 9:26 uses plural "ages"
Since there are only 6 verses, I will go ahead and list them...

Mat 13:
39
and the enemy who sowed them is the devil, and the harvest is a full end of the age, and the reapers are messengers.
40 'As, then, the darnel is gathered up, and is burned with fire, so shall it be in the full end of this age,
49 so shall it be in the full end of the age, the messengers shall come forth and separate the evil out of the midst of the righteous,

Mat 24:3 And when he is sitting on the mount of the Olives, the disciples came near to him by himself, saying, 'Tell us, when shall these be? and what is the sign of thy presence, and of the full end of the age?'
Mat 28:20 teaching them to observe all, whatever I did command you,) and lo, I am with you all the days -- till the full end of the age.'

Heb 9:26 since it had behoved him many times to suffer from the foundation of the world, but now once, at the full end of the ages,
for putting away of sin through his sacrifice, he hath been manifested;

===================

All 3 Gospels use:
"take heed".
"will be deceiving ye"
"many will come in My Name"

Translation taken from: https://www.scripture4all.org/

Matthew 24
4 And Jesus answeing said to them: “be heeding<991> no any ye should be deceived<4105>.
5 “For many shall be coming upon My name, saying,‘I AM the Christ,’
and many they shall be deceiving.”

Mark 13
5 Yet Jesus answering, begins to be saying “be heeding no anyone ye should be deceiving<4105>.
6 “For many shall be coming in My name, saying, 'I AM' and many they shall be deceiving<4105>

Luke adds "the time has drawn near"........That phrase is repeated twice in Revelation, again showing how well the discourse in Luke's Gospel harmonizes with Revelation [Luke is actually my favorite Gospel, besides John].

Josephus had said false deceptions were going on as the Jewish rebellion started, leading up to 70ad

Luke 21:8
The ye He said: “be heeding no ye may be being deceived<4105>.
For many shall be coming upon My name saying that 'I Am'
and 'The time/season<2540> has drawn nigh'. No then ye may be being gone after them."

Revelation 1:3
Blessed/happy the one reading and the ones hearing the words of the Prophecy and keepings in it having been written/gegrammena <1125> (5772),
That the time/season<2540> is nigh<1451>

Revelation 22:10
And He is saying to me "no thou should be sealing the Words of the Prophecy of the Scroll, this.
That the time/season is nigh"

2540. kairos kahee-ros' of uncertain affinity; an occasion, i.e. set or proper time:--X always, opportunity, (convenient, due) season, (due, short, while) time, a while. Compare 5550.
1451. eggus eng-goos' from a primary verb agcho (to squeeze or throttle; akin to the base of 43); near (literally or figuratively, of place or time):--from , at hand, near, nigh (at hand, unto), ready.

All 3 mention "the End".
Matt 24:8 and Mark 13:8 has
"All these are the beginning of sorrows.”
Some versions leave out "pestilences" in Matt 24:7.
===========================
Matthew 24:6
“Yet ye shall be being about to be hearing battles and tidings of battles, be seeing! be not be being troubled<2360>, for is binding to becoming,
but not as yet the End<5056>
Mark 13:7
“Yet whenever ye should be hearing battles and tidings of battles, be seeing! be not be being troubled for is binding to be becoming,
but not as yet the End<5056>

Luke adds "tulmuts". That Grk word only occurs in 1 verse of the Gospels and 4 verses of the Epistles

Luke 21:9
“Yet whenever ye should be hearing battles and tumults<181>, no may be being frightened<4422>, for is binding these to be becoming,
but not immediately the End<5056>

181. akatastasia ak-at-as-tah-see'-ah from 182; instability, i.e. disorder:--commotion, confusion, tumult.
Strong's Number G181 matches the Greek ἀκαταστασία (akatastasia), occurs 5 times in 5 verses

A very good video showing the rebellion, wars of the Jews as witnessed by Josephus:
==================
The entire documentary on the Roman Siege of Jerusalem in 70 AD. This massive battle is one of the most stunning of all antiquity. On display were impressive siege works and feats of bravery on both the Roman and Jewish sides as they fought mercilessly over every inch of Jerusalem. Fighting would even make its way up the the inner sanctums of the Temple Mount and witness the destruction of the Second Temple.

All 3 have:
nation vs nation, kingdom vs kingdom, famines, quakings,
Matt and Mark have "beginning of sorrows/travails"
Luke has "great signs from heaven"
Matt and Luke have "quakings and famines and pestilences" while Mark has "disturbances"

Matthew 24:
7 “For shall be being roused/raised<1453> nation against nation, and kingdom against kingdom.
And there will be famines, pestilences, and quakings in various places.
8 “Yet all these beginning of sorrows/travails<5604>.”

Mark 13:
8 For shall being roused/raised<1453> nation against nation, and kingdom against kingdom.
And shall be being quakings various places, and there shall be being famines and disturbances<5016>.
These beginning of sorrows/travails<5604>.”

Luke 21:
10 Then He said to them, “shall be being roused/riaised<1453> nation against nation, and kingdom against kingdom,
11 Great quakings and famines and pestilences<3061> in various places. They shall be being fearful-things<5400> as also shall be being great signs from heaven.”
============================
This happens before and during the great battles [as shown in the previous verses[.
Josephus seems to imply that this occurred during the 1st century Jewish revolt starting in 66ad and then Rome coming against Israel and Jerusalem

Hosea 5:2 The rebels are knee-deep in slaughter. I will discipline all of them.

CAST OF CHARACTERS:

The Siege of Jerusalem (70 AD) - Assault on the Antonia Fortress (Part 3/4)
Wall of circumvelation

All three show "ye shall be being hated"
Mark adds "Sanhedrins"
Luke adds "Jails"

Mark and Luke both show "synagogues" [tho Matthew 23:33-35 shows them being flogged in synagogues]
Matthew 23:34 Therefore behold! I send to ye prophets, wise men, and scribes.
From out of them ye shall be killing and crucifying, and out of them ye shall be scourging<3146> in synagogues, and persecuting/persuing from city to city;
[as shown in1 Corinthians 4:8-13 2 Corinthians 11 22-27]

Matthew 24:9
Then they shall be delivering ye up in to tribulation and shall be killing ye
and ye shall be being hated by all of the nations because of My Name

Mark 13:
9 Yet be ye looking out yeselves!
For they shall be delivering ye up into Sanhedrins and into Synagogues, and ye shall be being lashed<1194>
And upon Governors and Kings to be standing on account of Me, into a witness/testimony to them.
13“And ye shall be being hated by all [*men] for My name’s sake.
Yet the one enduring into end, this one shall be being saved.”

Luke 21:
12 Yet before all of these, they shall be laying the hands upon ye and shall be persecuting/pursuing ye,
delivering ye up into the Synagogues and Jails,
Being led upon Kings and Governors on account of My Name
17 “And ye shall be being hated by all for My name’s sake.
18 “and hair of head of ye not no should be perishing
==============================

Synagogue is also mentioned in Revelation [the word "gog" is included in that word]. Synagogue the usual worship places for Jews.

Revelation 2:
9 “I know your works, tribulation, and poverty (but you are rich);
and I know the blasphemy of those who say they are Jews and are not, but are a synagogue of Satan.
13 “I know your works, and where you dwell, where Satan's throne is. And you hold fast to My name, and did not deny My faith even in the days in which Antipas was My faithful martyr, who was killed among you, where Satan dwells.
================================
The Apostle Paul describes the hardships him and the others had to endure from some of those corrupt murderous Jewish Rulers that hounded them from city to city.

1 Corinthians 4:
8 Already you have all you want. Already you have become rich. Without us, you have become kings. How I wish you really were kings, so that we might be kings with you. 9 For it seems to me that God has displayed us apostles at the end of the procession, like prisoners appointed for death. We have become a spectacle to the whole world, to angels as well as to men.
10 We are fools for Christ, but you are wise in Christ. We are weak, but you are strong. You are honored, but we are dishonored.
11 To this very hour we are hungry and thirsty, we are poorly clothed, we are brutally treated, we are homeless.
12 We work hard with our own hands. When we are vilified, we bless; when we are persecuted, we endure it;
13 when we are slandered, we answer gently. Up to this moment we have become the scum of the earth, the refuse of the world.

2 Corinthians 11
22 Are they Hebrews? So am I. Are they Israelites? So am I. Are they descendants of Abraham? So am I. 23 Are they servants of Christ? I am speaking like I am out of my mind, but I am so much more:
in harder labor,
in more imprisonments, in worse beatings, in frequent danger of death.
24 By Jews five times forty minus one. 25 Three times I was beaten with rods, once I was stoned, three times I was shipwrecked. I spent a night and a day in the open sea.
26 In my frequent journeys, I have been in dangers of rivers and to dangers of bandits, in dangers from fellow race,
from the Gentiles, in city and in wilderness, in danger on the sea and to dangers in false brothers,
27 in labor and toil and often without sleep, in hunger and thirst, and often without food, in cold and exposure
===================================
Those enduring trial and keeping the faith of Jesus and obeying His commands till death receive the greates crown in the universe.....the CROWN OF LIFE!

James 1:12 Happy a man who is enduring trial<3986> that approved becoming, he shall receive the Crown of the Life, which the Lord did promise to those loving Him.

Revelation 2:10 No yet one thou be fearing! which-things thou are being about to be suffering.
Behold! the Devil is being about to be casting ye into a prison<5438>, that ye may be being tried<3985>. And ye shall be having tribulation<2347> of ten days,
Be thou becoming! faithful until death! and I shall be giving to thee the
Crown of the Life.

Matthew 24:10/10:21
According to Josephus 1st century Wars of the Jews, this also was happening during the 1st century Jewish uprising, leading up to the 70ad destruction of Jerusalem and Temple.
A fairly good commentary concerning that:

..........While Jerusalem was a prey to these ferocious and devouring factions, every part of Judea was scourged and laid waste by bands of robbers and murderers, who plundered the towns; and, in case of resistance, slew the inhabitants, not sparing either women or children. Simon, son of Gioras, the commander of one of these bands, at the head of forty thousand banditti, having with some difficulty entered Jerusalem, gave birth to a third faction, and the flame of civil discord blazed out again, with still more destructive fury. The three factions, rendered frantic by drunkenness, rage, and desperation, trampling on heaps of slain, fought against each other with brutal savageness and madness.
Matthew 10:21Now brother will deliver up brother to death, and a father his child; and children will rise up against parents and cause them to be put to death
=======
Matthew 24:10 and then shall many be stumbled, and they shall deliver up one another, and shall hate one another.

Mark 13:12
'And brother shall deliver up brother to death, and father child, and children shall rise up against parents,
and shall put them to death,

Luke 21:16 'And ye shall be delivered up also by parents, and brothers, and kindred, and friends,
and they shall put of you to death;

This also appears similar to these 2 verses:

New American Standard Bible
Ezekiel 38:21 "I will call for a sword against him on all My mountains," declares the Lord GOD. "Every man's sword will be against his brother.

Matthew 10:34 “Do not think that I came to bring peace on earth. I did not come to bring peace but a sword.

Revelation 6:4 And another, a red horse, went out; and to him who sat on it, it was granted to take peace from the earth,

Let me give you some advice that was given to me years ago since you are fairly new here. No one is going to sit and read through long post. It's best to keep them short and to the point and allow others to respond before placing more into the thread. This gives others a chance to discuss in small potions as you add to them.

God bless :)

Thank you for that advice. Sometimes I get carried away with my zeal for the Scriptures and "wag the tongue" too much.
I will just post the verses of the O D and let others add to and/or comment on them.

Act 13:6 Now when they had gone through the island[fn] to Paphos, they found a certain sorcerer, a false prophet, a Jew whose name was Bar-Jesus,
2Pe 2:1 But there were also false prophets among the people, even as there will be false teachers among you, who will secretly bring in destructive heresies, even denying the Lord who bought them, and bring on themselves swift destruction.

Rev 16:13 And I saw three unclean spirits like frogs coming out of the mouth of the dragon, out of the mouth of the beast, and out of the mouth of the false prophet.

A few verses from the OT
Jer 14:14
And the LORD said to me, “The prophets prophesy lies in My name. I have not sent them, commanded them, nor spoken to them; they prophesy to you a false vision, divination, a worthless thing, and the deceit of their heart.

Eze 13:9 “So My hand will be against the prophets who see false visions and utter lying divinations. They will [fn]have no place in the council of My people, nor will they be written down in the register of the house of Israel, nor will they enter the land of Israel, [fn]that you may know that I am the Lord GOD.

Luke has "gain your souls"

Matthew 24:13
The yet one enduring into a finish
<5056>, this one shall be being saved;

Mark 13:13
and ye shall be being hated by all because of the Name of Me,
the yet one enduring to a finish<5056>, this one shall be being saved.

Luke 21:19 By your patient endurance, you will gain your souls.
====================
Matthew 16:25 For whoever desires to save his life will lose it, and whoever will lose his life for My sake will find it.

Hebrews 12:
1
Therefore, we also having so great a cloud of witnesses set around us, every weight having put off, and the closely besetting sin, through endurance may we run the contest that is set before us,
2 looking to the author and perfecter of faith -- Jesus, who, over-against the joy set before him -- did endure a cross, shame having despised, on the right hand also of the throne of God did sit down;

1Peter 4:12 Beloved, do not think it strange concerning the fiery trial which is to try you, as though some strange thing happened to you;
James 1:12 Happy a man who is enduring trial<3986>, that approved becoming, he shall receive the Crown of the Life, which the Lord did promise to those loving Him. ["crown of life" Revelation 2:10]

Revelation 2:3 and thou didst bear, and hast endurance, and because of My Name hast toiled, and hast not been weary.

I did read through all of this and it is an interesting study with the Greek.

When I study Matthew Chapter 24 it is actually an outline Jesus gives from the time of the Olivet Discourse where the disciples ask Him three questions, tell us, when shall these things be? and what shall be the sign of thy coming, and of the end of the world?

In vs. 2 Jesus tells them of the future destruction of the Temple. Vs 3-28 Jesus starts to explain all things that will come to pass, including the abomination of desolation that will stand in the Holy place meaning the very Temple Mount of God. Vs. 29-31 Jesus gives details of His second coming and we being caught up to Him at that time. Vs. 32-35 is the lesson of the fig tree as generation means all generations that will see all these things being fulfilled as we even see today unfold before our eyes. Vs. 36-51 Jesus tells his disciples that no one knows the day or the hour of His return, but that it will be like that in the days of Noah when the flood came and no one except Noah was prepared.

This outline needs to be studied in greater lengths which begins in Genesis and ends in Revelations. This is one of my passions studying this in great lengths.

Thank you for responding. I do go to great lengths and time with this study.
Some have said that Matthew's O D is written more for a Jewish audience, whereas Luke's is more for a non-Jewish audience.
Much of Luke is in Revelation and why I try to quote Revelation as much as I can with the O D.

For instance:

I believe Daniel 11 may be showing the Olivet Discourse and Revelation [that could be for another study thread].
Note Luke 21:24 / Revelation 13:10

Daniel 11:33
And ones being intelligent<7919> of thy people they shall cause to understand to many-ones,
and they stumble<3782> in sword and in blaze<3852>, in captivity<7628> and in plunder days<3117>

[Sword and captive/captivity are mentioned together in only 2 verses of the NT: Luke 21:24 Revelation 13:10]

Luke 21:24
And they shall be falling to mouth of sword and they shall be being led captive into all the nations. And Jerusalem shall be being trodden by nations until which may be being filled times of nations.
[Deuteronomy 28:68/Revelation 11:2/13:10]
==================
Revelation 13:10
If any to-captivity into captivity is going away.
If any in sword to be killed, is binding him in sword to be killed.
Here is the endurance<5281> and the faith of the Saints [Luke 21:24]
========
Jeremiah 15:2
“And it shall be, if they say to you, ‘Where should we go?' then you shall tell them, ‘Thus says the LORD:
“Such as are for death, to death;
And such as are for the sword, to the sword;
And such as are for the famine, to the famine;
And such as are for the captivity, to the captivity.” '

I particular like this site concerning Josephus and the Olivet Disourse [I find Josephus to be a fascinating study,and he may have had access to the Book of Revelation?]

The Destruction of Jerusalem

The day on which Titus encompassed Jerusalem, was the feast of the Passover................

Of the Jews destroyed during the siege, Josephus reckons not less than ONE MILLION AND ONE HUNDRED THOUSAND, .................Of the captives the whole was about NINETY-SEVEN THOUSAND.

........the tallest and most beautiful youths, together with several of the Jewish nobles were reserved by Titus to grace his triumphal entry into Rome.
After this selection, all above the age of seventeen were sent in chains into Egypt, to be employed there as slaves,
or distributed throughout the empire to be sacrificed as gladiators in the amphitheatres ;
[Deuteronomy 28:68]

Various translations and commentaries here for those interested:

Matthew 24:14
and this, the Gospel of the Kingdom, shall be being proclaimed in the whole land/earth<3625>, for a testimony to all the nations, and then shall be arriving the end<5056>

Mark 13:10
and into all the nations first it is binding the Gospel to be proclaimed

Luke 21:13

and it shall become to you for a testimony.
========================
Matthew 24 and Luke 21 use an interesting greek word,

#3625 is used only 4 times in the Gospels...1 time Matt and 3 times Luke.
It is used 3 times in Revelation.

Most translations have "world". Not really sure how to render this word.

G3625 matches the Greek (oikoumenē), occurs 15 times in 15 verses

3625. oikoumene oy-kou-men'-ay feminine participle present passive of 3611 (as noun, by implication, of 1093); land, i.e. the (terrene part of the) globe; specially, the Roman empire:--earth, world.

1st time used:

Luk 2:1 And it came to pass in those days that a decree went out from Caesar Augustus that all the world<3625> should be registered.

#2050 used only in these 3 verses. It is formed by other Gk words denoting.....wilderness

2050. eremosis from 2049; despoliation:--desolation.

Matthew 24:15
Whenever then ye may be seeing the abomination<946> of the desolation/ἐρημώσεως<2050>

Mark 13:14
Whenever yet ye may be seeing see the abomination<946> of the desolation/ἐρημώσεως<2050>.........
Luke 21:20
Whenever yet ye may be seeing the Jerusalem surrounded by war-troops, then be knowing that come nigh the desolating/ἐρήμωσις<2050> of Her

2050. eremosis er-ay'-mo-sis from 2049; despoliation:--desolation.
2049. eremoo er-ay-mo'-o from 2048; to lay waste (literally or figuratively):--(bring to, make) desolate(-ion), come to nought.
2048. eremos er'-ay-mos of uncertain affinity; lonesome, i.e. (by implication) waste (usually as a noun, 5561 being implied):--desert, desolate, solitary, wilderness.
2047. eremia er-ay-mee'-ah from 2048; solitude (concretely):--desert, wilderness.

#2049 used 5 times......1 each in Matt and Luke concerning a Kingdom divided against itself shall be desolate...and 3 times in Revelation

Rev 17:16 “And the ten horns which you saw, and the beast, these will hate the harlot and will make her desolate G2049 and naked, and will eat her flesh and will burn her up with fire.

Rev 18:17 for in one hour such great wealth has been laid G2049 waste!’ G2049 And every shipmaster and every [fn]passenger and sailor, and as many as make their living by the sea, stood at a distance,19 “And they threw dust on their heads and were crying out, weeping and mourning, saying,
‘Woe, woe, the great city, in which all who had ships at sea became rich by her [fn]wealth, for in one hour she has been laid G2049 waste!’ G2049
==========================
And G2048:
This was said in the chapter preceding the Olivet Discourse:

Matthew 23
37 - “O Jerusalem, Jerusalem, the one who kills the prophets and stones those who are sent to her!
38 Behold! the House of ye is being left desolate/wilderness<2048>

Luke 13:
34 - “O Jerusalem, Jerusalem, the one who kills the prophets and stones those who are sent to her!
35 Behold! the House of ye is being left desolate/a wilderness<2048>,

All 3 have "fleeing Judea".
Luke includes "days of vengeance"

Matthew 24:16
then those in
the Judea let them be fleeing! into the mountains

Mark 13:14
Whenever yet ye may be seeing see the abomination of the desolation<2050>, the one being declared by Daniel the prophet, standing where it is not binding, (whoever is reading let him be understanding!)
Then those in the Judea, let them be fleeing! into the mountains

Luke 21:
21 then those in the Judea, let them be fleeing! into the mountains;
and those in midst of Her, let them be coming out! to country; [Revelation 18:4]
and those in the countries placed, let them not come be entering into Her
22 That days of vengeance these are, of the to be fulfilled<4130> all the having been written [Isaiah 61:2]
======================================
Isaiah 61:2
To proclaim the year of the good pleasure of Yahweh,
And the day of vengeance<5359> of our 'Elohim, To comfort all mourners. [Luke 21:22]
5359 naqam naw-kawm' from 5358; revenge:--+ avenged, quarrel, vengeance.

Luke 4:
17 the scroll of the prophet Isaiah was handed to Him. Unrolling it, He found the place where it was written:
21 and He began by saying, “Today this Scripture is fulfilled<4137> in your hearing.”

The word G1557 "vengeance" only occurs in 3 verses of the Gospels, all in Luke.

Luke 21:
22 That days of vengeance<1557> these are, of the to be fulfilled<4130> all the having been written
23 “But woe to those who are pregnant and to those who are nursing babies in those days! For there will be great Distress in the land and Wrath<3709> upon this people. [Revelation 6:16]

1 Thessalonians 2:
15 who killed both the Lord Jesus and their own prophets, and have persecuted<1559> us, and they do not please God and are contrary to all men,
16 forbidding us to speak to the Gentiles that they may be saved; to fill up their sins always: but the wrath is come upon them to the uttermost. [Luke 21:23 Revelation 6:16]

Rev 6:16 and they said to the mountains and rocks, “Fall on us! and hide us! from the face of Him who sits on the throne and from the wrath of the Lambkin! [Hosea 10:8 Luke 23:30]
===============================
This vengeance occurred upon apostate 70ad Jerusalem and it's corrupt murderous Rulers [which many believe is that great City in Revelation 17-19]

Luke 18:7 The yet God not no should be doing the avenging<1557> of the chosen-ones of Him, the ones imploring to Him of day and night and is far-feeling on them?. [Revelation 6:10]

Revelation 6:10 And they cried with a loud voice, saying, “How long, O Master/Owner<1203> holy and true, until Thou judge and avenge <1556 > Thy blood on those who dwell on the earth?”

Revelation 19:2 “For true and righteous are His judgments, because He has judged the great Harlot who corrupted the earth with her fornication; and He has avenged <1556> on her the blood of His servants shed by her.” [Matthew 23:30 Luke 11:50]
================================
You can use a lexicon/concordance and see how many forms of the word for "vengeance" there are and where they are used.

G1557 (ekdikēsis) occurs 9 times in 9 verses

1557. ekdikesis from 1556; vindication, retribution:--(a-, re-)venge(-ance), punishment.
1558. ekdikos ek'-dik-os from 1537 and 1349; carrying justice out, i.e. a punisher:--a (re-)venger.

G1349 δίκη díkē, dee'-kay; probably from G1166; right (as self-evident), i.e. justice (the principle, a decision, or its execution):—judgment, punish, vengeance.

the Judea let them be fleeing! into the mountains<3735>

Pulpit Commentary
Verse 16. - Then; i.e. when they shall see "the abomination of desolation," etc. Them which be in Judaea. Not only in Jerusalem, but in its vicinity, as most exposed to danger from the invading army. Flee into (ἐπὶ, over) the mountains. The Christians seem to have taken this advice when the city was attacked by Costius Gallus, about A.D. , some three or more years before the siege under Vespasian. Gallus had appeared before the walls, and apparently had every hope of taking the city, when, for some reason not certainly known (either owing to a supposed defeat, or ignorance of his own success, or the advice of his generals), he suddenly withdrew his forces (Josephus, 'Bell. Jud.,' 2:19, 6, 7).

The Christians, bearing Christ's warning in mind, and having, as we may conjecture, seen the predicted sign, took the opportunity of flight from the doomed city, and made their escape to Pella, a town of Decapotis, southeast of Bethshean, and the ruins of which are known now by the name of Fahil. Euschius probably refers to this migration ('Hist. Eccl.,' 3:5), narrating that, owing to a certain revelation given to holy men among them, the whole body of the Church, before the war, removed across the Jordan to Pella, and dwelt there in safety during those troublous times. We probably, however, do not know the exact time of the flight, as we are ignorant of what was the warning of imminent danger which rendered this hurried proceeding necessary.
==========================
This commentator mentions Euseblus. Not sure if that is the same Eusibius who witnessed the leveled Jerusalem.....

Cambridge Bible for Schools and Colleges
16. let them which be in Judea flee into the mountains] Many Christians, warned by this prediction (according to Euseblus, H.E. iii. 5, “by a certain oracle”), took refuge at Pella in Peræa during the siege of Jerusalem.

Thus was this great City, which only five months before, had been crowded with nearly two millions of people, who gloried in its impregnable strength, entirely depopulated, and levelled with the ground. And thus, also was our LORD'S prediction, that her enemies should "lay her even with the ground," and "should not leave in her one stone upon another, " (Luke xix. 44.) most strikingly and fully accomplished ! --

This fact is confirmed by Eusebius, who asserts that he himself saw the city lying in ruins ; and Josephus introduces Eleazer as exclaiming "Where is our great city, which, it was believed, GOD inhabited ? It is altogether rooted and torn up from its foundations ; and the only monument of it that remains, is the camp of its destroyers pitched amidst its reliques !"
