Have you ever been in a long distance relationship?
Or what’s your opinion with LDR?

I think there are even different categories here.

The first is that you meet someone face to face, and then afterwards keep in touch, by email, etc. Maybe the email communication transcends a large distance, but this isn't the essential aspect.

Then there are ppl who have never met, but because of their Web connections, imagine themselves to know the person. This can be tricky.

So there is no one thing called a long distance relationship, really.

For the believer, a lot of caution and prayer is highly advisable in whatever category.

I thought there needed to be a few more options as well.I would have tried it if the need arised, but it neve did. There was one gal I would have done it for it a heartbeat in my younger days, but that wasn't what God has in mind. I was really blessed that He didn't.

BB:

Well, yes. Otherwise you wouldn't have married the nice, Christian tattooist, would you.

Um... she's not a Tattoo artist anymore. That was from a different time in life before we met. Yes, thoguh, we met at college.

BB: Okay, fine. I guess there is room for Christian tattoo artists, anyway, only if they want to be, that is. Blessings.

(PS: I guess meeting at college is the opposite of a long-distance relationship, though.)

You really need to see someone in all kinds of situations to really get to know them and over a period of time. An LDR doesn't afford that kind of opportunity. That being said, I have known of some LDR's that work out well.

My first relationship was an international long distant relationship. We lasted almost six months (two weeks off from it). I wouldn't condone them. It was way too much for me to handle! But if you can do it, by all means, try. It never hurts to. I have a friend who's now married to her sweetheart. He lived in England and she was in Pennsylvania for four years of their relationship until he could move here! So, they can make it, but I personally had a bad experience so. Good luck if you want to try it! :)

i'm having a concrete plan to work abroad next year ( advancing my career hopefully), been processing my applications and papers since early this year so if i meet him ( my prospect lifetime partner) now i mean this year, and then i've got to leave for next year... for sure that will be a big consideration for both of us you know( i'm talking as if i already meet the " him " hahaha;):lol )....for me LDR chances to workout is like one in a million...but again i'm not sure today with the help of technologies and computers and cellphones there will be no distance for love as they say in the commercial.

:shrugi should not really stress out my self to that right now actually..... i will just step the bridge when i get there....i'll just keep in mind that God is in control.:shrughays

If you're an honest person, you are honest everywhere, on the internet and outside internet. The long distance is not necessarily the reason of breaking up, we can see people breaking up even when they live in the same area.
There are good and bad parts about it. One of the good parts is that you develop patience, commitment, trust in the Lord, not living for the moment etc. The bad part is that you cannot hang out together at different places YET.

i just noticed your reply today , thanks that is very true Hephzibah. At last ......., I think i might have found him already i mean a potential LTp. I think he's perfect for me and there's nothing in him that i would change. He's my classmate in highschol actually. The only problem is that we're distance apart , we're both working in different cities. Well, it's not like he's very far coz he's just 2 hours travel via plane from here . But i think it's just very wrong timing right now because of our pursuit to each careers. Hays...sigh...this guy actually is willing to try to work out a relationship with me through distance and i still have to really pray for this..............hays and sigh again

I am in one right now! I know a lot of people say that they grow apart, and distant but I find that it makes my love stronger! Being apart helps me to appreciate the love we have even more. I am grateful for everything that he does, and find myself loving him more, and not getting caught up in the "little things". I think for a lot of people, a long distance relationship is not the way to go, and it can bring negative feelings, while not letting the individual live in the moment and experience what is around them. That being said, having a date that you will be together again is good because it allows you to have something to look forward to. A lot of people say that they would never do long distance, but sometimes the right person comes along and it feels right :)

I have never been in a long distance relationship of the romantic variety, but my best friend lives two thousand miles away, so I have a bit of an idea of what it's like for someone you love to be far away. And it's crazy hard.

Personally, I would rather not become involved in a long distance relationship, but I'm not so opposed to it that I wouldn't try. The guy would have to be pretty amazing though...

My first relationship was long distance. We never actually met in person and he got so abusive, I'm glad we didn't.

My current one is sort of long distance. We see each other a few times a month and we did physically meet in person before even falling for each other so I think I've got the best of both worlds with him. I can't vote in the poll but it's working out really well with him right now.

My wife of 25 years was in a distant city when we met. I moved there to be married and then we moved back to my city later on.

Well, I met my wife when I was 16. We worked in Red Lobster together. Began dating soon after. It became long distance after I joined the Marine Corps. First three months of boot camp, then infantry school, two combat deployments that lasted a year each, and long times being stationed stateside. Our relationship worked out very well. We're now married for over a year and a half and are about to have our first child.

Thought I already posted on this, but can't find it and haven't got a message that I've been banned yet...

I think I might possibly be in an LDR right now maybe. There about a 40-70% chance that I am.

Close distance relationship make it easy to neglect certain problems that would tear an LDR apart. The problem is not that LDRs are too hard, but rather that close distance relationship are deceptively easy. There's no room for childish silliness in an LDR. But if your relationship is solid (or even just meh) and you act like a rational adult, you will be fine in an LDR.
