Have you ever found spiders when cleaning your room?

YES! I found a brown recluse a couple of weeks ago, just sitting there, confident as you please, on the computer desk. It wasn't reclusive at all, though. Not scared a bit and didn't flinch at the kids screaming. I sucked him up into the vacuum.

Um, those can kill you. :crazy

I get spiders sometimes. I'm not bothered by them. I got moths trying to set up camp in my place. I chase them into the spiderwebs. :lol

I was looking at an economy apartment after graduating college. A roach crawled up on my shoulder and whispered in my ear, "This place has ants" :gah

Well, I've been looking at pictures of brown recluse spiders and they are pretty similar to hobo spiders. It's possible that it might have been a hobo spider in my house. I hope so, because I believe they aren't poisonous. Not sure. I'm definitely no spider expert. *shudder* Anyway, no one got bit so that's good!

I have. My old house had wolf spiders. They can get pretty big, but are usually harmless. :)

I don't know how you all live with those kinds of things down there. Spiders here don't get very big at all and very few are poisonous. The Black Widow is the only one I know of and I've never seen one. The only real benefit of a colder climate....

Hate to break it to you JoJo, but Hobo's are poisonous as well. I don't think they are as poisonous at the Recluse though. My b-i-l was bit by a brown recluse and boy, that was bad.

I have spiders all over the place. There is just no way to keep them out here. Most are common household spiders and non-poisonous. Every now and then we've come across black widows, usually hiding in farm equipment, but not often.

The problem was, I was bit by a common household spider. Non-poisonous (at least not very, I've heard all spiders have a certain amount of venom) ordinary spider. It was in a toilet paper roll of all things. I was changing the tp, because naturally the kids wouldn't dream of replacing a roll and went to grab a new roll out of the cupboard and got bit. The little spider bit me on my finger tip and before you know it, my arm was swelling up, my heart was racing, my breath was getting short and I was on my way to the ER.

So, just because a spider isn't poisonous, doesn't mean it won't cause an allergic reaction. If you get bit by a spider, keep a close eye on things and don't hesitate to go the the doctor if you start feeling weird.

LOL, as we speak, there is one of those common spiders climbing the wall in my office at work. :lol

Jojo, it may be one of wolf spiders Lance mentioned above.

Whoa, Dora! :crazy

I get bit by them a few times a year. They get me on the arm, leg or foot when I'm sleeping. It gets red and as round as a dime sometimes, with those two little fang marks in the middle and ... itches like mad for days! But never such an allergic reaction like that. I feel for you. :sad

I can identify with that. Several years ago I rented a small (ancient) trailor. I was in such a pinch and needed a place quickly and it was cheep so I took it. Later that week I realized that the window in the front room leaked like crazy when it rained and there was mold under the carpet and in the walls :sad Well, the place was so damp, and being pushed half into the woods I had camel crickets everywhere, HUGE centipedes and millipedes, and grubs living in the wooden porch outside, ticks everywhere, and gargantuous wolf spiders in the tub.....but the worst thing I ever had was Scorpions, yes SCORPIONS in the bathtub!!!!!! :mouthdrop Eeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeek
