There is salvation in no other, for there is not another name under heaven having been given among men, by which it behooves us to be saved."

Have you or anyone you have personally known ever had a "near-death" or other "supernatural" experience?

I can share some stories. For now I'll share this. A female accountant in a company where I worked relayed to me the extreme difficulty she experienced when giving birth to her child. She said that she even "flatlined". I had to ask her "Did you experience anything"? She said that she found herself floating in incredible peace and comfort. She knew she was dead but it was, in her word, "ok". But then, she thought about her baby girl and other children growing up without their mother, felt regret, and suddenly found herself awake and conscious and, yes, in her physical body. She said that she didn't meet Jesus or anyone else and she wasn't "dead" for more than a number of seconds.

I believe her account because she was normally a very quiet, reserved, woman. As well, I didn't get the impression that she was "religious".

I'll share more later, if you like.

Do you have any to share?

No stories of my own.
I would have rejected this and other stories untill I heard Habermass talking about nde's. He had plenty of documented accounts that made it difficult to reject them as fantasy.

That said there is only one way of evaluating them.

What effect has that experience had on the person's relationship with Jesus?
Are they now a Christian, or more devoured as a Christian?

If nothing changes in this respect then the story is valueless.

So is that lady accountant a born again Christian visibly living out her faith?

I was once banned from a forum. But miraculously I came back to life one month later. Born again!

I am frequently banned for a month from the Christian forum.com. I currently am because I quoted scripture on a orthodox thread.

One forum banned me permanently because I challenged the super spiritual hits wh like to post random verses of scripture and don't say why.

I do not have any NDE's myself, but I have several "other supernatural" experiences.

Here's one. I call it, When Jesus steps into the room, you know it! I did not see Him. But I felt Him enter the room and His presence was powerful and I knew that God had just stepped in. Even before He spoke. Then He spoke audibly and told me to pray for a certain Brother in Christ that I knew, he needs help right now...

So I did the stupidest thing possible. I began to question God. Why? What happened? Is he ok? And then He answered and said, He needs help right now pray for him to receive help...

But when He said that to me, He changed His tone ever so slightly. Do you know that tone of voice that parents use on the kids where the tone itself delivers the message of, you better do this right ow and with no backtalk...? That tone. That is the tone that He used. It struck terror into me most immediately and I responded, Yes Lord. And went into prayer for my friend and Brother. I said my Amens and as I did the presence of God went away and I was left sitting alone and feeling very curious as to what had happened to my Brother. He didn't tell me. So I contacted my Brother and he told me what happened and how he did need help and then suddenly a stranger wearing a suit was there saying, I'm here to help what do you need? So everything turned out ok with him, praise the Lord.

That was the most powerful presence of God that I have ever felt before, or since. And when He spoke, I recognized His voice, even though I have no recollection of having ever heard it before. And I thought about Zechariahs incident of being struck dumb so he could not speak until the baby was born because he questioned the Angel...and I felt very lucky that I was not! Praise the Lord for that!

I learned a very valuable lesson that day. The correct answer is, Yes Lord.

tail end of age 20, i was put in a private, for profit psych hospital, owned by a big chain of private, for profit psych facilities. and...

their 'treatment' for my so-called 'personality disorder' involved a lot of humiliation, not permitted to have counseling or participate in group therapy (parents and insurance -were- billed for these treatments, though), and...

ok, it was the most secure ward. cameras in every room, 2 (same sex) to a room. my night time sedative was Restoril, a benzodiazepine (Valium-family of drugs) used for sleep. Unlike -most- benzodiazepines, Restoril overdoses can be fatal. I forget why, exactly...usually, benzodiazepine ODs aren't lethal, unless they're combined with other drugs (look at how many opioid OD deaths were/are caused, in part, by benzodiazepine co-prescriptions...side note, scary stuff)...

but a Restoril OD can be lethal. so, I'm trying to sleep, and the workers keep harassing me..."he has malignant narcissism" "he got passed around" "he's ugly" "he can't handle his emotions" and...

I kept waking up. fun fact about taking any sedative for sleep: its easy to forget that one has taken them. so, I'd go up to the med counter on the ward, and they'd give me...

more Restoril. Restoril comes in a couple sizes, for whatever reason, they were giving me The Big Ones-- 30mgs per capsule. and...

I remember wanting to get up, to use the bathroom. too sedated. wet the bed. woke up, someone was saying "he needs to be in (local hospital); his lips are turning purple," and then I gasped for air, and...oxygen mask. emt was called in, I guess they were afraid of a lawsuit?

no treatment for the OD. there is a benzodiazepine-antagonist...just injecting me with that could have helped, but...no, no, no. that's the sheer cruelty of psychiatry, btw. and...

age 23, in another city, I had to get a brain scan. I should not have survived the overdose (massive brain damage from oxygen deprivation), and they'd done both shock 'treatments' (not voluntary, btw) and some sort of operation that, combined, had caused -massive- brain damage, hence the 2nd (private psych ward) facility's nickname for me: Frankenstein. :-(

I'm 36, now. somehow, 8 years to truly knowing Jesus, I have a "high IQ" (145-150 is the estimate, apparently), and...

yeah. God is Good! the world, in general, is fallen and run by the evil one, the prince of lies...

but psychiatry, psychology, etc.? watch yourselves with the 'helping professions.' :)

One near death for me was almost dying from double pneumonia as a young boy. Mommy had dressed me up warmly for bed and said "it's going to get very cold tonight." I asked "Why is that thing on?" pointing to the window A/C directly over my bed. "Can't you just turn it off?" I asked. She said that Dad wanted it on. Later that night a man entered the room. I was awakened by the man pulling all the covers off of me even removing my pillow. He stripped me naked and ordered me to stay in bed and not call my mother. I curled up in a tight little ball but still wound up in a hospital under an oxygen tent.

That is horrific. Dan I don't know what to say. The Lord must have been with you all your life even though you may not have known it.

I don't know. As I said, she was normally a very reserved, quiet person. Maybe that's why she was an accountant. LOL. I was only mildly acquainted with her. I imagine the impact on her life must have been enormous.

I have seen seemingly countless stories from people who have claimed such experiences. Many were from people who were atheists, Satanists, hardcore criminals, drug addicts, etc., that said that they went to "Hell" and were then saved by Jesus and that, after being revived, they totally changed their lives.

With that said, I've also seen plenty of testimonies from people who I am confident were not being truthful, particularly alleged "preachers" that have claimed numerous NDE's. Riiiiiiight.

There are conmen in every facet of society including, unfortunately, many churches.
