The Hebrew approach to hermeneutics (the theories of interpretation) views four levels of interpretation: 1) Peshat, the literal, direct meaning; 2) Remez, an allegorical significance; a hint of something deeper; 3) Derash, the homiletical, or practical application; and 4) Sod, the mystical or hidden meaning.
Yes, I'm familiar with the four levels of Hebraic interpretation. I do disagree with what they were saying in that article though, concerning Proverbs 30. Bad example of using any of them, imo.
But many believers only use half of these four levels of understanding. Mostly literal/pashat. They miss out on a lot of clues and hints to what's really going on in the NT because of it, also. They don't understand (and I don't a lot either, I admit) how Rabbi's like Paul and Yahshua taught or what they ment when they said certain things, so most people, unlearned while reading both testaments, really, miss out on the truth.
